Let's Explore Puerto Morelos 🌊🐚 The Chillest Beach Near Cancún 🥥🌴 Riviera Maya Travel & Adventures

Hey there, ramblers & rovers! Puerto Morelos, a charming coastal town between Cancún and Playa del Carmen, offers a relaxed and authentic Mexican experience. Puerto Morelos retains its small-town charm despite being nestled between two popular tourist destinations. Its tranquil beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and laid-back atmosphere attract travelers seeking a quieter getaway.
Here's a travel guide to help you make the most of your visit:
HOW DO I GET TO PUERTO MORELOS?
-- From Cancún: Puerto Morelos is approximately 33 kilometers (20 miles) south of Cancún. You can take a taxi, rent a car, or use public transportation like buses or colectivos (shared vans) from the downtown area or the Cancún International Airport.
-- From Playa del Carmen: If you're coming from Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos is about 36 kilometers (22 miles) north. Similar transportation options are available from Playa del Carmen to reach Puerto Morelos.
TRAVEL TIPS FOR VISITING PUERTO MORELOS:
-- Weather Considerations: Check weather forecasts, especially during hurricane season (June to November), and plan accordingly. Puerto Morelos, like other coastal areas, might be affected during these months.
-- Currency and Language: Carry Mexican pesos for local transactions, although USD is widely accepted. While many locals speak some English, knowing basic Spanish phrases can be helpful for smoother interactions.
-- Respectful Tourism: Embrace the local culture and environment by being mindful of the marine life and ecosystems. Follow guidelines for responsible snorkeling and diving to preserve the reef.
WHAT CAN I DO IN PUERTO MORELOS?
-- Snorkeling and Diving: Explore the underwater wonders of the Mesoamerican Reef. There are guided tours available for all skill levels, catering to both beginners and experienced divers.
-- Reef National Park: The town is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling and diving. The protected marine area boasts diverse marine life and coral formations.
-- Visit the Town Square: Stroll through the town's main square, where you'll find charming cafes, artisanal shops, and a relaxed ambiance. The leaning lighthouse is a notable landmark to visit.
-- Relax on the Beach: Enjoy the serene beaches of Puerto Morelos. Lounge on the soft sands, swim in the clear waters, or simply bask in the peaceful atmosphere.
-- Culinary Delights: Indulge in fresh seafood at beachfront restaurants or try authentic Mexican cuisine at local eateries in town.

Hey Scott! Thanks for tuning in! I believe it was at El Merkadito, right on the beach relatively near the tilted lighthouse.

Nobody is swimming. What good is the beach if you cant get in the water with all that seaweed?

I made a separate video about the unfortunate seaweed situation in the Riviera Maya. When it's seaweed season it can get pretty bad, as you can see. But there are parts of the year when the beach is clear and you can swim freely. It takes a bit more planning, but it's probably worth it if you really want to visit.
