I feel like that is applicable to every K-Pop group because after all, K-Pop is still categorized as actual genres of music. LOONA stands out amidst the pool of K-Pop group because they are more unique and different.

They probably had a lot of stuff they had to fit in for the storyline and it’s hard to fit in choreo too. For me tho, I’d probably be happier seeing diversity and ppl that look like me rather than choreo, but that’s just me. But, yes I totally agree with u :(

So What was the first music video after Haseul went on hiatus, and she's been on hiatus since. The feathers at the end of So What represent her in the lore, as her representative animal is a white bird. It's theorized by some fans that the feathers represent an attempt by the girls to bring her back, but we haven't really figured out why she's gone afaik (lore-wise ofc, we know the actual reason for her hiatus). Thankfully Haseul has started posting updates for us again, and they're hinting at a full ot12 comeback soon, so we're very excited to see mama bird again with her kids :)

LOONA is called "Idarui Sonyeo" in Korean which literally means "girl of the month". It is a 12-membered girl group formed by Blockberry Creative. The group was introduced to the public by revealing each of the twelve members in a periodic fashion. Each member has their own debut songs and debuted as a whole after revealing all the members.

Loona have no official positions. They’re meant to be able to do everything, which makes sense, as each member debuted with their own solo and solo single album. There are also three subunits, each with a mini album and two with repackaged albums. While the members themselves have said they much prefer being known for dancing or singing, all of the members have rapped at some point. The girl with purple hair was Choerry. The girl who’s voice you liked in butterfly is Olivia Hye. And the girl who was going off with the vocals in So What was Jinsoul. Tbh you could roll a die to figure out who does adlibs among the 6 that almost always do them. 😂 From this point, I’d recommend Hi High, their debut song, and Favorite, their pre-release single that was released before Hi High. Those are their last OT12 MV’s. Hopefully a comeback happens soon, which will give us more.

Loona did a dance cover of cherry bomb by nct and it was so great that even SM (Lee Sooman) was impressed. Ever since then, he’s had a hand in making loona songs. I believe he had a hand in making Why Not and So what. The person killing the background vocals in so what was one of the most prominent rappers, Jinsoul. P.S. srry for all the info but I literally love Loona so much.

I actually like "Why Not" a lot cause I think that has some sort of SM touch to it. The production feels immaculate with the quirky vibes Edit : p/s : I know LSM are heavily involved in both songs. That's why i said I love it because of the SM touch lmao.

@@simpofmongmongie4345 that's actually what it really means. When the director/editor adds a black cut in a video, it usually implies that the viewer is part of the video. And as with LOONA's "to all Loonas around the world", it fits so perfectly..

those details you pointed out from Butterfly are somehow connected to the lore but it's not required to know everything about it to understand it! generally speaking the whole MV and concept behind it is pretty much connected to women empowerement, "fly like a butterfly" is almost like an invitation to search for freedom and it's a message to every woman in the world (hence all the different girls from all over the world appearing in the MV, that is something that happens also in the following MV and I'm sure we'll see more shots from all over the world in the future too, cause that is literally a core point of the group, each member during pre debut shot and released MVs as solos AND in different sub units from different parts of the world, and all with different concepts to showcase the "coming together" of the group, which will from the debut sing more about the empowerement and search for freedom while unifying diversities!)

Loona's roles are really flexible, so there aren't really typical roles like main rapper, main dancer, main vocalist, etc. There are members that are known for being very good dancers and vocalists, but they rotate around how they're being used a lot, and I'd say their roles are more about their vocal textures and sounds needed for specific songs. Things are a little different in the subunits and solos though, which you should definitely go through after you've seen all of the ot12/11 music videos. Stanning Loona is kind of a journey, where if you watch things in order, you get to experience each member individually and watch the group being built over a couple years of predebut concepts. There's really nothing like it, and it makes learning members and their styles easier and very interesting.

I was really intimidated by the number of members too, but when I tried to get into them a few months ago it was surprisingly easy to learn and fall in love with each of the girls. They're all amazing, and LOONA's discography is fantastic. Full of bops! I was waiting for your reaction to that So What bridge, I knew you'd love it haha. Definitely one of my favourite bridges in kpop. Those amazing vocals after the bridge were Jinsoul by the way, she does great adlibs like that on a lot of LOONA songs. It's one of the things that really made her my bias 😍 I'd highly recommend checking out each member's solo MV's next, there's a lot of variety in them but they're all really high quality songs. I think Olivia Hye's Egoist, Heejin's Vivid, and Chuu's Heart Attack would be great ones for you to start with.

And to answer your question no they dont have official positions like some girls suddenly rap, and some girls suddenly dance in the middle, some girls start belting notes they are just versatile and their music are so unique they dont sound like common kpop groups

in terms of positions i’m pretty sure there aren’t any set ones but there are definitely stronger soloists/rappers/dancers that you can pin down as u get more into their music i think that songs u might like would be kim lip’s solo (eclipse) it has an rnb vibe, the odd eye circle songs (one of the subunits), and if u like kinda hyper electro pop sounds u might like their debut (hi high) or love4eva (another subunit song). loona’s whole discography is great, there’s something for everyone because it’s so varied. the group has a really good underdog story as well, there’s one really good youtube video by mira (i think it’s called the inconstant moon?) that talks about their struggles pre/post debut. it’s really long but if u have time to watch it it’s super interesting if you’re into like getting the lore of the group there’s some videos out there explaining it, but i personally think that u can enjoy the music and the individual girls perfectly fine without it (especially considering how long winded some of those videos are). imo it is the least important part as there’s not a lot of continuity and lots of it is just fan speculation.

austin! i’ve been watching your reactions for months now and you’re one of the reactors (channel) i go to on my free time. i know how much you love exo and red velvet and to be honest, those two groups are one of the groups i stan-stan. i rarely post comments on any channels here on youtube, but knowing how much you love exo and red velvet, and now that you’re starting to listen to more loona songs, i wanted to say how excited i am for this loona adventure you’re getting into. i’ve been a kpop fan since 2012, and i listen to a lot of artists (western, kpop, etc.), but the only groups i stan-stan ever since are exo, red velvet, and loona. and in my opinion, those three groups have one of the greatest and most versatile discography out there, a god-tier. just listening to loona’s title tracks already shows how unique and versatile they are in terms of genre. they never do the same thing. in fact, their title tracks are just a glimpse of their entire discography. loona has 12 talented and wonderful girls. these girls will make you fall for them in many ways; voices, dancing skills, visuals, and personality. loona’s music, from solo, unit, and full group songs, are one of the greatest out there. i know understanding their mv is a little confusing, but it’s actually part of their identity as a group (loonaverse: lore/theories) but you don’t really have to get into that if you’re here for their music, that’s fine too. the loonaverse is just an addition to their beautiful concept as a group. if you want to start listening to their discography, there’s a lot of songs to listen/react to! this group released solo, sub-unit, and group songs since their debut. you can start listening (on your own, or for reaction videos) to see if i lied when i said that they have one of the greatest and most versatile discography out there, along with exo and red velvet. however, i already think you’re going to fall in love with these 12 girls once you started getting to know them; music and personality/group dynamics. i just know it! hehe thank you for this reaction, austin! take care always and be safe!

Butterfly remains their best comeback to me, the choreo is the greatest I've ever seen, the diversity in the MV just makes me very happy as a black woman and I love the message of the song. I'd suggest watching the full choreo in your own time to see how great of a choreography it is. So What has the best bridge of 2020, that bridge is SICK, I can't get enough. Why Not is just so catchy, I love it.

As you are a singer and vocal coach, you would probably really enjoy watching their solos, they each have a unique voice that really fit the genre of their solo! As for Butterfly, it is really a masterpiece, everything from the song, their voices, the aesthetic of the MV and also the choreography and their synchronicity, it's just amazing to watch and listen!

The feathers at the end of So What mv are representing Haseul (wich has a white bird as a representative animal in the lore), she's on hiatus so she couldn't appear in both So What and Why Not mvs. The butterflies in So What are also about a member, Gowon (who is the one seen with them) have a Green Eden butterfly as a representative animal.

The adlibs in So What that you liked are done by vocal queen Jinsoul. She’s the blonde girl in Butterfly that you thought was pretty, she was the girl wearing the AC/DC shirt in So What ,& she was the one rapping in Why Not specifically on 14:41. She’s known for her vocal runs she’s really extra when she sings lol.

The high voice was recorded an octave lower then pitched up to be that high. Search up the Mono Tree KZread channel (the producers of the song) they show that they pitched it up and show their creation of the song overall.

The last title track missing is Hi High but Favourite was also the lead track for that release and it's a song I recommend. An interesting fact is that the members were indeed presented one at the time with well crafted solo and sub-unit projects and from those releases I highly recommend Kim Lip's Ecplise, Jinsoul's Singing In The Rain, and Yves' New. I personally don't love Heart Attack by Chuu but the song has really good vocals in it. The videos are all good tho and very different too to reflect the different vibes, style and colors each member brings to Loona.

Loona is so good.. Why Not is one of my favorite songs of all time. I'd recommend any of their solo debut songs but particularly Chuu's Heart Attack, Heejin's Vivid, and Olivia Hye's Egoist. Also for group MVs you can't miss Hi High.

The album Max and Match by the subunit Odd Eye Circle is one of the best pop albums of the last ten years. I'm not a huge fan of the rest of the Loona catalogue but that is worth checking out for sure.

Loona doesnt have official positions/roles all of them can literally stand on their own... they are 12 main vocalists and main dancers, AND OFC THEYRE ALL VISUALS. we love all rounders!!!

hi! i'm sure people have said this but Choerry (purple hair in butterfly) and Olivia ('deep voice' girl) both do have rap parts frequently! that's basically the LOONA equivalent of being a rapper, since they don't have set vocal/rap positions :)

I love So What so much. I remember it was one of the few songs on my playlist that was on repeat for three months. 😂 and that song officially introduced me to Loona. Although I only consider myself as a casual listener of them, I can say that they're really talented.

Loona are a group that have some of my favourite B-sides. They have so many sultry and beautiful songs, mostly within their subunits. Many having an awesom mysterious vibe to them. Some of my favourites are Love letter, loonatic, Uncover, rosy, D-1, girls talk, rendezvouz 18.6y. But there are way too many great ones to list.

Would love to see you react to Astro, they're a 6 member group under Fantagio entertainment. They started off with a more cuter and innocent concept but have transitioned to a more mature concept during recent years. They're also releasing their second studio album on the 5th in april. So please check them out, their vocals are very unappreciated imo.

As soon as Lee Soo Man got involved with Loona, we heard one of the most iconic 'SM bridges' in So What - I'm very excited for what they do next. He hasn't produced a song for one of his own girl groups for years and years - the only other song he had worked on directly since 2015 was Jopping. He clearly saw something in Loona (that Orbits had been seeing for a few years already).

to give a simple (as simple as it can get with them) introduction to loona: loona is a 12 member girl group under bbc entertainment. their korean name means girl of the moon/month, which connects to the fact that loona debuted all the girls as solos, then units, then the full group over 2 years nearly every month. this is why a lot of loona mvs if not all will have moon symbolism, and why loona is one of the few groups to not be introduced by age order but rather by debut. simply put, loona do not have positions, everyone is an all rounder, however they do have colors, animals, places and fruits allocated to them as part of their loonaverse aka the loona lore. a brief member breakdown: heejin: first member to debut in october 2016. pink, rabbit, paris, often seen as center or visual of the group, cf queen and born in 2000. hyunjin: debuted november 2016. yellow, cat, tokyo, another visual, our deadpan sassy queen. also born 2000. haseul: debuted december 2016. green, dove, iceland. she was training to be an opera singer before joining loona, unfortunately she’s been on hiatus since butterfly and thus wasn’t seen in so what and why not. leader of 1/3 and loona overall. born 1997. yeojin: january 2017. orange, frog, taiwan. she’s our youngest! the baby of the entire group, born in 2000. shes the cutest person ever. vivi: february 2017. pastel pink, deer, busan. she’s the only foreign member of the group, another visual queen as they all are. out of these first five, haseul hyunjin heejin and vivi form the subunit 1/3. yeojin wasn’t able to join promotions bcs she was barely 15 when they debuted and she was doing school first and foremost. their lore is centered around vivi being an android who’s learning how to be human from the other three girls. their sound is more innocent and refreshing. kimlip: debuted may 2017. red, owl, has neither location nor fruit. leader of odd eye circle and one of the ground breakers in loona history. her solo was one of the first that blew up internationally. born 1999. jinsoul: june 2017. blue, blue betta. she featured in vivis solo mv so we all expected her to be the next member just for her to hide for another month! born 1997. choerry: she’s the one you pointed out with purple hair, debuted july 2017. purple, fruit bat, jeju, cherry. purest ball of sunshine. born 2001. these three form the subunit odd eye circle. their lore is centered around being the connecting force of loona- 1/3 resides on earth, yyxy on eden. oec travels between and especially choerry has the power of teleportation and is the only member to have color, fruit, location and animal. yves (pronounced eve): november 2017. burgundy, swan, apple. one of our dance queens! leader of yyxy and also born 1997. chuu: december 2017. peach, penguin, strawberry. this girl has PIPES and she’s so adorable, a variety queen in the making. born 1999! gowon: january 2018. eden green, monarch butterfly and pineapple. her voice has a super unique tone to it and she’s one of the funniest members unintentionally. born 2000. olivia hye: debuted last member- february 2018. black/grey, wolf and blood plum. she has one of the deeper voices in the group and is also born 2001. this unit is called yyxy. theyre lead by yves, who much like eve in the bible tempted both chuu and gowon to leave the eden of loonaverse. they left behind olivia hye, who fell to earth to seek revenge. the ‘x’ in their name is gowon, who not only is the connection between yves and chuu, the tempter and tempted, and olivia hye, the forgotten one; but may or may not have reversed the loona timeline to prevent exactly this tragedy from happening. loona has been my ult since i got into them in april 2017. i hate saying they’re different from others bcs all groups are talented and unique but there’s no better way to say it. loona have a charm to them nobody else has. their company is not very big but since the moment i’ve discovered them i knew they would make it big, really big, one day and if they just keep doing their thing they can become a class above everybody else for sure. unfortunately their company sucks ass so since their debut as 12 we’ve had more hiatuses than we’ve had comebacks and less songs than we got during the predebut solos. i hope you can react to more of them as they’re genuinely the group that’s closest to my heart right after nct. orbits, let’s simply wrap this up by saying: BURN BBC!
