They are and will always be the Summer Queens (Hyolyn released her latest song on summer right, so still a summer queen😁) They would also achieve PAK (Perfect All Kill, but I'm sure you already knew that being a Moomoo and Hwasa-biased hahaha, tl;dr they were HUGE! They debuted in 2010, they are 2nd gen! Soyou, lead vocalist, still makes music! You should check her out! Starship Ent didn't know how to promote 4 different individuals :( So Soyou's vocals have always been overshadowed by Hyolyn's equally amazing voice! And don't worry, a lot of Somnies and Mamamoos started pretty early on in kpop so they most probably have encountered Sistar if not already a Star1 themselves yet (myself included lol).

I discovered KPOP in 2018, but ironically I wasn't at all into the newest groups, and I was fan of SNSD, BIGBANG, SISTAR, EXO, Afterschool, 2NE1 and lots of other 2nd gen kpop groups. Now I can call myself Insomnia, but I also appreciate a lot of the other groups

They have 9 SONGS that went NUMBER 1 in SOUTH KOREAN CHARTS! They are well knows in south korea! People love them, everyone does. They are amazing dancers, entertainers. also have great rapping and AMAZING vocals. I am sure you would love them :)

Yay for Sistar! Such an iconic group and still the queens of summer! No group since has ever come close. Hyolyn and Souyou's voices complement each others' voices so well. Also, Hyolyn is in a subunit with Bora called Sistar19 and they have two of the best songs in 'Ma Boy' and 'Gone, not around any longer'.

No kpop stan can not like sistar, theyre certified summer queens and i follow you for DC but im up for some sistar and even other 2nd gen girl groups yaaass

Sistar are the only group i ever stanned other than mamamoo, when they disbanded i left kpop but I had to come back for mamamoo

Sistar was incredibly successful in 2nd Gen. For voice analysis I'd really like you to react to Solji's Ave Maria on Masked Singer. She won with it. She is from EXID that you reacted to. If you want a more serious song from Sistar definitely check out "One More Day" and also "I Like That"

The thing about Sistar is that they're known as the summer queens. They always swept the charts with their summer songs and not just that, they might be showing more skin for their sexy appeal but they do it right. They show off their hardwork with their healthy body. They eat right and Soyou helped them maintaining their bodies in good health and shape with exercises, etc. Would you mind checking out B.A.P "Warrior" (debut song)? Seriously one of my fav kpop group that made such amazing debut and so many great songs but didn't really taken care by their own company at all tho... so they disbanded... but they got so many amazing mvs and songs and VOICES AND RAPPERS! If they were still a group, they could have been much more bigger than how big they were when they debuted. They got so popular immediately after they debuted. P.S. Their first debuted performance made the floor broke cus of their choreography xD

A hit would be an understatement for "Touch My Body" that song was an entire summer anthem and solidified Sistar as the summer queens. They were HUGE in their time and were still on top when they disbanded. They turned their small company, Starship Entertainment in to a household name and its now considered a large reputable company now thanks to them. Sistar was a group that had a more mature sexy vibe. The sexy girl groups where big in the early 2010s, like how girl cursh is big now. In my view, they're one of the groups who did sexy very well and made it look classy and empowering rather than a cheap gimmick like some groups do. They did push the boundaries of sexy but not to the point where its uncomfortable to watch. For other Sistar songs, I'd reccomend Alone, I Swear, and I Like that As for what they're up to now, Hyolyn and Soyou still make music. Soyou recently had a comeback with "Gotta Go". Bora and Dasom now promote as actors.

I Like That is one of their best songs! They were a very successful group and had an extremely clean run!

Soyou was the it-girl before Hwasa in KPOP I believe and has arguably been the best performing (chart-wise) solo career mainly due to collaborations which gaslighted a huge "singer" X "singer" duet trend starting around 2014. Her fully solo career hasn't exactly fared as well, which sucks cause she hasn't fully had to lean on the crutch of her signature "70% air 30% voice" style of singing, but all of her songs are generally really good. I do think it would be interesting to hear a vocal coach's take on her voice. She's had 3 solo singles [The Night; All Night: Gotta Go], 2 of which were from EP's and the 3rd having been recently released after nearly 2 years since her last fully solo release.

Their farewell MV Lonely is beautiful and a must. Hits hard just like when 2NE1 said goodbye with Goodbye.

AAAAA thank you for this video 💕 Sistar is considered the "queens of the summer" as most of their songs were released in the summer and achieved a 'perfect all kill' on the Korean charts. They are iconic!

oh i'm so glad you checked these two out specifically... other, bigger fans of the group have already said much more than i could about them, but now that you've heard the songs and seen the dances you're going to notice a bunch of references to them in mamamoo material, esp behind the scenes stuff or variety shows... sistar is still known as south korea's 'summer queens' even years after they disbanded and virtually every korean knows their songs and jams out to them every summer (as do many international kpop fans) there's a 'butt-slapping' bit in "touch my body" that... is basically replicated in every mamamoo dance practice ever (and has even been done onstage. more than once) and they've danced to and sang these songs in multiple places (including karaoke stuff)

You say, about Touch My Body, "Tell me this song was a hit" and I say.... it was on Family Guy. Season 14 ep 10. Also check out Hyolyn's recent cover of "I love you 3000" by Stephanie Poetri. It's fantastic.

As an InSomnia, personnaly I really don't mind you reacting to other groups. First, because Dreamcatcher is still very unique. And second, Siyeon also said somewhere that Hyolyn was a model. 😎 You should definitely check their debut song "Push Push" which was... interesting. Also their iconic "Alone" and "I Like That". They were my first too. Their song I swear came preprogrammed into my Tucson, so I looked them up and it opened up the world of Kpop for me.

SISTAR: one of the most legendary Kpop groups of all time renowned for being ultimate Summer Queens. They're also my fave hihi.

"they're definitely shaking it" I LAUGHT SO HARD. This vídeo maked me cry, I miss SISTAR so much. I'm a Star1 (fandom name) and something I really love about them is that almost all of their vídeos are like that, having fun, and showing that they are like sisters, bestfriends, even now that they're not together anymore. Their last song 'LONELY' still makes me cry so so much. Hope you could see more of them soon! They have a few acustic version of their songs.

I’ve never taken the time to get into Sistar but Touch my body gets stuck in my head so easily

Sistar were considered THE Queens of Summer. People would actually say summer wasn't really here until Sistar dropped a song. They definitely were not afraid to be sexy and member Soyou is widely considered to have one of the best bodies in K-pop. Aside from their catchy bops and great vocals was that they always came across as super chill and relatable and down to earth. The general public liked to call them the girls next door idols. Soyou and Hyolyn are still releasing music. Soyou released a single called Gotta Go a couple months ago and it's so good! Dasom has had some stuff on OSTs for dramas she's been in but she and Bora are primarily pursuing acting careers.

I love Mamamoo, but Sistar will always be my first loves in Kpop. I still play their music to cheer myself up. They are the queens of summer. I was heartbroken when they said they were disbanding.

Also, when Immortal Songs 2 rebooted in 2011, Hyolyn was among the very first group of performers and technically won the very first 1st place spot. The performances for that show might be hard to find from back then. I first saw Hyolyn as Nana on Dream High 2, and quickly needed to find out more. Luckily, I found Immortal Songs 2 as it was still a new show back then. Her performances on there captivated me, and then Sistar started releasing BOP after BOP. Hyolyn is one of my favorite vocalists in kpop. Especially the "That person that time" performance. She even posted a semi-recent dance version of that on her KZread channel where she seems to be singing live while dancing in a dance room.

Since we're going with the direction of 2nd gen, may I also suggest Brown Eyed Girls's "Sixth Sense"! Much love 💖

I'm a star1 since their debut, and I'm lucky to be able see them in person before they got disbanded, missed these beautiful and talented ladies all their songs are bop and always topped/killed all the korean music charts and even billboard US so proud of them and their achievements and they will be my ultimate girl fan group. Hyolyn and Soyou's solo songs and collab are also successful. Soyou is called Collaboration queen. Bora and Dasom r both good in drama.

Soyou's latest solo comeback was called "Gotta Go" and it was soooo goood. The song, the choreo, the clothes...UGH! She was promoting the same time as Jessi with "NUNU NANA".

Yes they were 2nd Gen :) Sistar were popular for summer bops later in their career (with these MVs you watched) but they got very popular at one point thanks to their sexy concept especially with their song "Alone" (a hit in Korea that gave them a lot of popularity) and "Give it to me". At the time, they were more known as the sexy gg. It would be nice to see you react to these two MVs for sure. There's also Sistar19 that's worth checking out : subunit with Hyorin and Bora (rapper), their song "Ma boy" was super popular.

Great reaction! Sistar is much missed especially when summer rolls around bc yes, they were the summer bop queens. I also love their off speed songs like Alone and Give It To Me-shows off a more mature vibe so please check those out as well. My personal favorite from Sistar bop is Loving U. Also, the second lead vocal is Soyou. She has very different vocal texture from Hyolyn and does solo work as well. Soyou is most famous for drama soundtracks and duets with other artists.

Oh gosh, Sistar is such an important group for me and many others! They're one of the first girl groups who promoted healthier/bigger sized bodies, proudly darker toned skin, healthy eating and working out habits, wouldn't act fake or put on a character just so people would like them, MATURE music even when it's fun, proud and respectful of their sexuality while still calling out the hypocrisy of the entertainment industry ("if we were to wear the same exact outfits as other groups it wouldn't be allowed bc of our body's [sic]"), and were a very vocal group about the sexism, harassment, and deceitfulness of males in the industry, always looking to warn younger girl groups about predator type men. Yes, they weren't afraid to be, dress, and sing sexually but they were powerful and owned themselves, making sure everybody knew it.
