"Russian Roulette" is an earlier RV song that hits the cute/horror vibe. They're not trying to kill any guys in that one...just each other LOL When you get to the "Queendom" MV, what's left of the pizza boy makes a cameo LOL

This is the quintessential Red Velvet MV, IMO. The song - in the hands of anyone else - would be a typical bubble gum pop song about how the thrill of falling in love is like a game of peekaboo, or a jump scare. It's exciting. Rec Velvet elevates the song by adding layers to the vocals, ad libs, descants, harmonies...; and then turns the conceit of the lyrics on it's head with the visuals and truns it into a slasher film. The girls are so bored they order pizza just to have a victim - they don't eat the pizza (they just decorate it) and they have stacks of pizza still in boxes lying around... They alternative to murder is to let your housemates see how close they can come to hitting you with sharp objects.... They never deliver the obvious concept. I'm here for the music & vocals - because that is Red Velvet. The fact that they then add cinematics that are engaging in a "thinking outside of the box" kind of way... What more could you ask for. seriously? What next? Since you've watched their Killing Voice - anything from that set list is a no brainer. Or you could pick an album - As you discovered during your Chill Kill album reaction - their B sides are amazing. The only thing I'd wait on is their solo stuff (28 Reasons is a must see, at some point), and the -iconic- Irene & Seulgi sub unit ("Monster" & "Naughty") Their Killing Voice featured 3 other songs off of the same album as Peek-a-boo: "Bad Boy", "Kingdom Come", & "Time to love". Maybe check out those songs next (the other 8 songs on "The Perfect Red Velvet" album are lit, too. duh.) "Red Flavor" and "Psycho" are definitive RV songs: the first cemented their claim as the Queens of Summer, the second is just S tier music. Their discography is immense (145 songs, counting their Japanese & English releases). Loved the reaction, as always - You've now witnessed their two confirmed kills. In their other MVs, they're usually better at hiding the bodies....

Haha I'm glad they get better at concealing evidence, which I saw in Chill Kill (cleaning and then just burning the house works!). I like how you explain them elevating the song, I feel that way too. Even just the ad libs ("oh gosh") are delivered in a special way. They just have this x factor on top of incredible talent and humor. I love them a lot! I think I might do Bad Boy next? It has been recommended by a few people but also the solo/subunit that I am a little worried about lol...

This was PEAK Red Velvet for being both Red AND Velvet. I just love it so much, and the storyline (aka killing the pizza boy lol) is just legendary in kpop mvs Ironically I had gone through my RV discography up to that point (up to Bad Boy) but I had somehow missed this and saw the mv started and immediately with that beat, I fell in love

I just bought this album recently and the jewel case is like a pizza box, the CD actually has a picture of the gem covered pizza, and when you take it out there’s even grease stains under it. I’m so happy to own that version.

It is wonderful you are going back to their earlier discography. While I love their newer releases the older ones are so iconic! Their songs are all bangers and all different and quirky and/or sexy at the same time. I dont know how they do it. You will be in for a treat.

Hello & good morning! This was a seriously pleasant surprise to watch over breakfast. Red Velvet is truly funny, from an era with some funny videos (Mamamoo and Twice come to mind.) I feel like NMIXX has the ability to be funny and funky at the same time, XG does too but this video is a whole other level. If anything, there’s a danger that the video almost overwhelms the performance and the dance. From Red Velvet, in a similar vein to this MV would be Russian Roulette and (one of my all time favourites) Really Bad Boy. Both have dark humour and good quirky MV’s. As far as must watch videos, Bad Boy is at the top of the list because it’s a good groove & it helps to know it to appreciate Really Bad Boy, which came after and is unrelated except for title but it’s fun to have the expectation. Feel My Rhythm is another all time favourite, but it is light vs. dark, has deep classical influences and references visual art throughout-truly a masterpiece (see, I have range) and their vocals are exceptional, even by Red Velvet standards. From their early days, Happiness and Red Flavor are worth watching but they are definitely on the upbeat vs. smooth side of things. As far as Seulgi goes, yes her solo stuff rocks, 28 Reasons is always high on my playlist. For fun, she also did Wow Thing (with Chung Ha, SinB and Soyeon) and a bit of fluff with MoonByul from Mamamoo called Selfish (not sure where you stand on Mamamoo but MoonByul is a astounding rapper and has had a hand in composing many of Mamamoo’s tracks) Back to the Peek-a-Boo video briefly, it has been years since I watched closely and even when i did it took eagle-eyed reactors to point out some of the details. Here are a few that linger in my memory: - It seems that the member who is dressed differently in each scene varies, so it implies that the one who helps the driver escape changes each time - the full moon is the trigger for the ritual - Yes the house on the table was made of pizza not gingerbread - I thought they were using the diamond to keep the pizza box from sagging in the middle (more environmentally friendly than plastic? ;-) - they deliberately miss so the one member can escape with him and then get him when he is relaxed - the phone booth has flyers about missing pizza delivery guys on the side of it The moral of the story is obviously: don’t play the blindfold/jello game with strangers It was a really lovely house, yes

PEEK-A-PEEK-A-BOO 🍕🍕I LOVE THEM SO MUCH AAAA!!! So glad you enjoyed this one!!! It's so awesome!!! Everything from the incredible vocals (ur totally right, both Seulgi and Irene's little "oh gosh" are FIRE) to the super cute choreography, the cheesy scooby doo sort of humour and playfulness, which at time is actually pretty creepy and unsettling and I LOVE IT. Also I'm kinda obsessed with the story in peek-a-boo, I mean,,, the lore is strong with this one. AND THE LAYERING OMG. INSANE. not to be dramatic but if they wanted to murder me I'd probs be fine with it.

i think you'd like this album too. "The Perfect Red Velvet" is another full album (repackage) that has similar vibes to chill kill in the sense that its their more velvet side (mature, rnb, darker). Also has one of their biggest songs on there "bad boy"

So theres a really cool part of the choreo during what i think would be the start of the bridge(like where he ate the jello). You dont have to make a whole reaction to the choreo if you dont want to, but if you look up "Red velvet Peekaboo hand illusion" it should pop up.

I can't tell you how many watches of this MV it took me to realize that was NOT a gingerbread house but in fact a pizza house. HAHAHA Joy is on the table how can we be expected to notice details like this? Red Velvet is so camp and I love it. They will never be boring. Queens of layering. I heard recently that people were calling them "pastry velvet" due to their layers on layers on layers shown in their recent recording behind for Chill Kill (or any recording behind, or by your ears when you listen to their music haha).

Speaking of missing details there's apparently a whole real house behind them in a couple shots and idk I'm just not seeing anything but them. 🤷🏻‍♂️ They gave me a little of everything I want, I enjoy this group so much I'll definitely be doing more. It looks like bad boy might be next but I'm doing it all eventually I can't get enough of them!

I’d recommend Bad Boy next and then maybe Psycho…if you wanna do Queendom and Feel My Rhythm for more light heartedness after that then good. You’ll need that before you get to the Seulgi in Irene subunit. You are not ready for Monster…you are not ready for Naughty. And coming back to the group, you are not ready for Wildside. Remember I told you this 😂 Also in this video, shoutout to RV for being the prettiest pizza boy serial killers lol. On the side of the phone booth were a list of missing pizza boys! You definitely caught the shirts being trophies too, those were their earlier victims 😂. I love that they can mix it up and give us quirky dark M/Vs like this, and that’s why they’ll always be my favorites. Another great reaction from you bro!
