Some people "don't have time" to go for a run. I've consistently run an average of 100 miles/ month since 2010. All while maintaining full-time (45-60 hours/week) employment, a part time job which turned into a business (10-20hr/week), finishing 1/2 a bachelor's degree......if someone wants to do something, anything, they can find the time.

My belief in my own delusions ended when I started getting requests from her at the end of every month starting in 2018 to avoid using the debit card because we wouldn't have money to pay the mortgage. To her credit, now that we are debt free, she just tilts her head and smiles when I ask "why didn't we do this sooner?" Get on board with your partner.

Divorce, break apart financially, and 5 years later I am debt free with a 3 year old car with 50k miles, no house but I paid cash for what I'm living in which is better than any rental helping my oldest with college, and even get along better than ever with the ex. We aren't together but do stuff together with the kids all the time and get along great. We were perfect together except financially. I know from college financial aid and her asking me to do her taxes that she is still dead broke while I am wondering what to do with all my leftover income even with her collecting a 3rd of mine, which our salaries are approximately the same.

Kenny aka TI this is simply not true. The IRS hardly puts anyone in prison (not jail, also a difference). People who are sent to prison are committing tax fraud. And when an agent audits you, they will almost always give you a civil process instead of a criminal one. I have no idea where this myth originated, people think if you owe a couple thousand to the IRS that they’ll come in and take your money and car away. Just doesn’t happen. The small amount owed by this woman’s husband is 100% a civil issue.

One thing I realized after having a lot of used cars and new cars is that no matter what kind of car you have you're always going to have at least maintenance issues. So it really doesn't matter how new your car is. Do you still have to save money to repair or maintain or both your car if you don't have a car payment it makes it a lot easier to do that. And the newer technology tends to be worse then the older technology.

It's like the banks will lend at a different debt/salary ratio. Oh they make 3x that guy? Okay lend them 15x as much. I've listened to Dave for years and he takes the side of the women 90% of the time. Common sense would tell you women are probably in the right around 30-40% of the time. If a guy had called in making the same complaint about his wife, Dave would've told him to grow up and be a better leader for his family. Well, imo same applies here. Maybe the husband doesn't want to get on board because his wife doesn't submit to him and nags him constantly. I lived long enough to know that money problems in a marriage are just a symptom of a bigger problem.

We didn't follow the baby steps exactly - but the spirit was there and we've made great strides over the years.
