I remember watching the Wire for the first time in 2020. The Cutty arc really connected with me as I was in a similar stage of life. In my mid 30s stuck doing low paid administrative work after getting laid off from a longterm job that paid decent. Doing constant temp work for like $15 an hour and working for management who was younger than me. Later that year I enrolled in a Data Analytics bootcamp and learned SQL and Python. Was able to get my first analyst job in 2022 and now am an Automation Engineer. I reinvented myself and am doing work I can be proud of.

This is where I'm at right now. I've been at my job for 15 years, but recently I've been really wanting to move forward and try something different. The problem is I don't know where to start and it's also scary to just jump out there and start all over.

I've always thought Cutty was one of the most realistic characters on The Wire, especially the struggle of just getting out of prison and trying to stay on the right path but falling into the allure of the streets. I've seen that story so many times, even in my immediate family. I was rooting for him and was glad he found his way towards the end of the series.
