Lessons in Leadership: The Sopranos - Paulie Gualtieri
Фильм және анимация
Much more than just a quirky personality, Paulie Gualtieri is one of the most memorable characters in the Sopranos. With some of the most iconic scenes in the show, Paulie remains a fan favorite years after the show's end.
But Paulie isn't just any character in the Sopranos, he's a pivotal character who's actions cause a lot of harm. If we look at Paulie's personality, we learn that sometimes the most dangerous enemy isn't the one at your doorstep, it's the one within your own family.

@@therealist6945 yeah but the man was in his 60s and he was acting like a 13 year old until he made peace with his aunt. At that age, are you really concerned of that? You would have bigger things to worry about. It's not like he didn't know his Mom (the nun) prior to the revelation. At best he would have been taken back a bit and perhaps a bit disappointed, then spoke to his mother/aunt about it and made peace with it. I can understand if you are young and feel like your whole life has been a lie but not when you yourself are practically a senior citizen.

One of my favorite scenes is when he realizes nobody actually loves him he goes back and they watch TV quietly
You misunderstood Paulie's call to Christopher after they kill the waiter. It wasn't that he thought they were in danger from the waiter. He was talking about their escalating beef - the waiter situation was just a wake-up call for them. they were on the verge of having a physical confrontation, and the waiter actually distracted them from their bullshit for a moment and that builtup aggressive energy they had towards each other was released on the waiter instead. So, someone would have gotten hurt in that alley.

Paulie had some of the funniest scenes in the series with Minn, the Russian and Feech
Paulie is also the only character imo that really believes in higher power, he just really scared where he's going afterwards. Tony showed that too obviously, but paulie really sees the spirit side of the world that nobody else sees. Idk maybe he's just fuckin crazy

He's got no arc. Spent a few years in the army, a few more in the can, and that's that. No arc. But you know who had an arc? Noah.
Paulie also said to Feech "In my book you get points for staying out if jail", the irony he felt entitled to higher consideration after his bid Edit: Spelling

Paulie's favorite song is Up N Da Club.
The parallel of that birthday dinner scene to the Last Supper was previously lost on me, well done. You make a good case for why Paulie would’ve been the one to have Tony killed but because Paulie will forever be my favorite character on that show, I choose to continue to not believe he did.
I got the impression that Paulie missed the priest’s offer to take $50K to ignore them switching out the gold crown during the festival. PS: That particular pic of Saint Elzear covered in money just showed me the origin of the “dollar dance” at weddings. The sacred *and* the propane 🙏🏻

Really? Thats the common theory i hear amongst the majority of fans of the show. And what I've believed for years.
Season finale “Funhouse” tony has a dream where he shoots and kills Paulie, I think it was Tony’s subconscious warning him about Paulie’s betrayal in the future.
Greatly enjoyed your character analysis

When you watch a video like this it's like the series kind of helps you forget how just pathetic and monster is he is at least on the first viewing but yeah when you put it this way he's one of the worst characters on the show particularly with how he treats the mother who raised and that was so heartbreaking. Especially when you look at these other mothers who are either terrible people themselves or not exactly saying she's the only mother I can think of who was actually very good to her kids except for maybe Bobby's first wife

I'm totally aware that Beansie's wife was never portrayed w any children of theirs but she had no problem asserting herself to Tony right after Richie's heinous and brutal attack on Beansie.....not a whole lot of folks could get Tony Soprano to stay mum & clam up the way she did. I'll never forget it lol
Great video. The only thing I’d like to argue is the dynamic between the Priest and Paulie. The subtext implied that the Family has been using the Festival as a racket for years, in which they get a cut and also the Church. However of course the mob would get the larger portion. The new Priest definitely was trying to shake down Paulie in the sense that the church would make so much, it’s not even a racket at that point. Because of which, I don’t think Tony would be upset with Paulie as Patsy, whose smart and level headed, was upset as well and didn’t say anything to steer Paulie to agree with the priest. In short, what’s the point of a racket if at some point your no longer making money and in this case, losing money? I just believe Paulie was frustrated that this guy was shaking the status quo.
Great video🎉
Great video
No way Paulie betrayed Tony at the end. There was way more convincing evidence Buchie used his model worthy niece to obtain intel on Tony’s travels and locations. She just so happened to check into the same mental health clinic as Anthony Jr did during the same time as he was there for his suicide attempt. Then she just so happened to develop a crush on Anthony Jr even though she never gave him a second thought before. Last but not least she was somehow allowed the sensitive info of where Tony was hiding out while there was an active war with New York going on. This has Buchie’s grubby little paws all over it.
Salute

Paulie was definitely funny but I always noticed everything you just pointed out. He did constantly need validation and I never understood how Tony was younger snd became boss yet Paulie came up with Johnny Boy and Junior. I agree that Paulie kills Tony, and Carmella and AJ too in that diner. He hated having to support Carmella during Tony's coma, and AJ has already proven himself a vengeful hothead for his attempt to kill Uncle Junior. Paulie was definitely the new leader of New Jersey over Patsy, and Paulie already had ties to New York, who would also benefit from Tony's death since Tony was about to be indicted, and he would have flipped -- the only person he could have flipped on would be Carmine Jr, who no doubt stood back and let the issue resolve itself to his own benefit. Personally, I don't think you can help Paulie's type. He has more in common with Christopher than everyone else in the crew. Nothing would ever be good enough. He would always think he deserved more. Why should he be elevated when he has proved time and again that he is not leadership material, a good earner, doesn't take accountability, creates and escalates problem out of nowhere and antagonises people around him? Tony should have got rid of him in the boat.
