Leonard Susskind - What is the Theory of Everything?

It is the Holy Grail of physics: All the particles and forces of nature unified and explained by equations so simple that you can print them on your tee shirt. Are we getting there? What would a 'final theory' of fundamental physics do? And if we find it, what will we know? Will we know everything?

No amount of "sharpness" can overcome the assumption of creating the universe from nothing. Everything was already here when this event happened. The "Big Bang" was nothing but a gargantuan collision in static space. That is where all the energy came from that expanded the galaxies and made them plasma.

Please convey my deepest respect to Prof. Leonard's most refreshing and breathtaking view. His argument that we are possibly tinkering with a very small area of a huge mechanism brings to my memory a small story : A father and his young son were on their way out of a fancy hotel entertainment area, where they just had a good time and enjoyed all the fancy drinks from the machines, watched the VR games on the screens, and ... and ... The father directed his son to an ANT on the ground .... and asked him : "Do you think that the ANT can ever imagine the complexity of all the machines, software driving them, the people making the food, the accounting system calculating our bill, and charging it to our Visa card through the internet, etc..." The point he was trying to make to his son was that the ANT cannot realize that she CANNOT realize ! Deep !

A mechanistic view of universe can have more philosophy than realized; in long run may lead to more answers. Traditionally philosophy has been more from a set of assumptions, while a mechanistic view can discover starting points as it goes along (forget now which is a-priori and which a-posteriori).

I'm absolutely hooked by this guy a brilliant explainer of the complexity of it all. I'll disagree with one thing, he says he was born with the mind of a mechanic but not the philosopher, i would say he has an element of both, he seems to visualize concepts he is explaining, while speculating the limits of what we know in comparison to the vastness of the unknown. To me that veers into philosophy.

Progress ? We were given life on a living planet. A boomerang, a didgeridoo and a bullrope was all we needed ; a tool to get food , a tool for entertainment and a tool for communication. Today we work endlessly for the millions of tools we need, we fight endless wars , we replace life with more and more «death» (machinery/tools) and we have seriously health problems. If we define humans as tool-makers , we have made huge progress. If we define humans as spiritual beings with wisdom and knowledge about life, one might say we have lost ourselves.

When he interrupt Susskind by saying "we have learned a lot" was really unacceptable. Susskin was explaining something very imp when it comes to understanding reality or so called world as we quantify is mere just information. He was about to start his philosophical train of thoughts. It seems we all just always want to dwell on proved fact as an achievements and fail to realise every thing we know as an information was a biproduct of wild horse imagination. And if that's the case then this what it is "we all are peice of information livning in an information" unfortunately failed to see big picture beyond our sight, coz we can't comprehend that data that information and that is how our make is.

The reason for our becoming self-conscious, or self-aware, creatures will become apparent later on, when we begin exploring the nature of being human in greater detail. But this human self-consciousness is something quite different in nature to the reality of the Consciousness that lies behind and within everything to appear as the myriad forms in existence. Consciousness inhabits and animates creation and its creatures not unlike the power that flows through a computer to make it work in accordance with the hardware and software of the device. By this analogy, the specific physical characteristics of a creature’s body constitute the hardware, and the programming of its mind the software. These things are important to understand because if this conceptual ground is not firm, the model we build from here will not endure, and its potential value will be lost. What all this is pointing to is that what you really are―what we all are―is an eternal, unlimited energy source capable of creating and experiencing events. What you are is this creative source, this Consciousness. Who you are is how this Consciousness works through you to express as something unique in the world. Powerful creative Consciousness is your true and essential nature, but of course, you experience your life through the limitations of a human body, so it may not seem that you are an all-powerful being at times, or indeed ever. By its very nature, the body exists as some ‘thing’ and is, therefore, a limitation or restriction of ‘everything else possible’, to become something specific and useful―a human being. And then it must be remembered that these bodies we inhabit are a product of Mother Earth, and have developed for good reasons. Although today there are many philosophes, theories and just sheer guesses put forward to explain the purpose of our existence, none of them fully describe or satisfactorily explain the original intention for our emergence. Some bodies born into this world have, or will develop over time, physical or mental attributes that further alter the creative opportunities and experiences available to them in a lifetime. The influence of our national culture, the general culture of our times, and the impact of our upbringing by parents and other significant people also become major influences that can place limitations on our thinking and power. Other restrictions occur as a result of the pains we might experience in life, the emotions that often get buried in the body as a result, and the accumulating limited beliefs they then give rise to. There is also the concept of ‘karmic debt’ that will limit opportunities, and this too will be discussed later in the work. The state of your own evolved Consciousness is another factor affecting personal power. All these things limit the opportunities you have in life, and so it can be seen that although your true nature is something quite grand, you find yourself in very limiting circumstances. But it is important to keep perspective. Your essential nature is a free and unlimited Consciousness, a potential capable of eternal creation and experience. And this Consciousness was the reality before the Universe that we know emerged.

If they waited for another couple hundred years maybe Europeans would have been more responsible in their dealings with the natives around the world. I thought we already answered why there is something other than nothing? 1. In the first 10 microseconds of the big bang, the universe consisted of a seething maelstrom of elementary particles known as quarks and gluons. Ever since that epoch, quarks and gluons have been locked up inside the protons and neutrons that make up the nuclei of atoms 2.Replicating conditions after the Big Bang When the nuclei collide, their oppositely-directed relative motion compresses the collision region where they overlap, creating matter at extremely high densities to form the QGP. The relative kinetic energy of the incoming nuclei was also then transformed into creating matter. So it was a the order of combination of events - just like that omelet you make perfect or burn.

The problem was that Columbus plans were totally wrong, people knew by calculations that the trip (to Indies) was too long. And he would have died in the middle of the sea if there was no America in the middle. The idea that Columbus was the one thinking that the earth was round is made by some books of the last century that were later adopted by Hollywood.

We live in one of the probabilities of it starting. At the same time, an infinite amount of other universes could have started at any time. Some failing due to ubalanced laws, and some creating very weird Worlds we can't imagine due to different rules.

This is the Theory of Everything. Of course, it will seem foreign. Why wouldn't it? A black hole is simply a minimum entropy star. It is invisible because all it emits are optically invisible gamma rays. It is made of nothing but quarks that have been separated and uses dark matter as the catalyst. Once the quarks have been separated from a sufficient enough collision, it is the sheer density and pressure of the dark matter of space that keeps the quarks apart indefinitely. As a result of this separation, the dark matter is thrown out of the reaction as gamma rays. That is where all the cosmic and gamma rays come from in our universe. Space is made of extremely pressurized electron neutrinos. A black hole starts transforming itself into potential energy by first fusing the electron neutrinos of space and the quarks to create the first neutrons the mass will possess. This turns the black hole into a neutron star but the neutrons are only a thin layer on the surface of the quark plasma. This gives the mass its first optical light as well. The neutrons naturally break down into the first hydrogen the mass will possess. The constantly forming neutrons then fuse with the hydrogen to form the first helium using the beta minus decay, neutron capture method. This is the true fusion of the universe and has absolutely nothing to do with creating energy. It is only a method of turning kinetic energy into potential energy. That is why fusion has never, and will never work for energy production. Quark plasma is what scientists seek. The beta minus decay reaction continues creating heavier elements making the star darker until a crust forms and the light is extinguished. At this point, an atmosphere is allowed to develop since the surface is now protected from the quark plasma underneath. The endless quark plasma energy is what allows all the reactions to take place. We live on an ex-black hole. Gravity is created from a manipulation of the electron neutrinos of space. The energy of a mass breaks down electrons at the core and turns them into electron neutrinos. These particles are shot from the mass gravitationally invisible. They push out on the natural pressure of space to cause gravitational lensing since it is all the same matter. Gravity is created as the natural pressure of space pushes through the outgoing matter to react with normal matter as gravity. At absolute zero, this manipulation stops and so does gravity no matter what the size of the mass may be. Gravity had nothing to do with the energy we see because a massive collision in space created the galaxies as quark plasma shrapnel. The reason the force of gravity remains unexplained is because a cloud of gas and dust must be able to transform itself into a star. This assumption completely disregards 95% of the mass of our universe. Our galaxy was spinning when it was born in the collision. Quark plasma is invisible and can make shapes. The centrifugal force created a massive disk with a bulbous center. The center separated from the disk and our black hole was formed. The remaining quark plasma disk was left to create all the solar systems. Each one was created with a single mass of quark plasma as well. Our solar system did exactly what our galaxy did. A disk with a bulbous center was formed by centrifugal force. The center separated from the disk and our Sun was born as a black hole. The remaining quark plasma disk was left to create the planets and their corresponding moons and rings. Even our planets were formed exactly like our galaxy and solar system was. This is the Theory of Everything. All laws are consistently followed. No stone is unturned. Our universe is very understandable. All it takes is going back to what Edwin Hubble discovered and realizing that it was only the galaxies expanding, not the universe. Hubble never believed in the expanding universe theory but nobody listened. Georges Lamaitres primeval atom theory was accepted immediately and set into stone. It was the biggest mistake science has ever made.

True nothing can't really exist in spacetime as we know it because in every aspect, it would return a value of zero, including the time/duration aspect. The way I like to think of it is that if you had an outdoor pool, and someone told you to add 7000 liters of nothing to it, the pool would remain unchanged. So, this answers the question (for me) of why is there something rather than nothing. It's because there cannot actually be nothing. There can be a black void, but as you say, that's something, just not a very interesting something. Once you have the word 'is' or the word 'be', you're introducing some kind of ongoing concern - something which has at least one non zero value. It's always been interesting to me that whether in a theistic model of the universe/reality or a non-theistic model, there are just some things that are accepted to be an unanswerable mystery to be worked around rather than directly investigated.

Actually…I think science is approaching the complete opposite conclusion. That there are fundamental and discrete building blocks. But what’s beautiful about that idea is that chaos theory exists…where all systems even discrete ones produce random behavior as you go up in scale. The complementarity you see in things like hisenberg and ADS CFT are basically the consequences of theories being approximations of more discrete physics. Here’s why: position and momentum…why can’t we know both at the same time? Like taking a bowling ball and rolling it on the floor in a dark room to find another bowling ball…you hear the sound, clack! You found the other bowling ball! But because you hit one thing with another thing you don’t know where it is… but you would think that well…you aimed your ball in a certain direction it should be generally in the direction you pushed the ball. Low and behold what happens is that it’s momentum is purely random…why would that be? Think about the room…what would cause the ball to move in a completely random direction in a physical sense? It’s called hidden variables…things you can’t see…little tiny rocks on the floor…other balls…there are smaller things that cause the trajectory to be completely random. What do you suspect those hidden variables are? It’s the vacuum itself. Think about energy…energy is mass which creates curvature. If the vacuum has energy than it is curved too…that’s your rocks on the floor…the deformations that cause the randomness of QM. What do they do right now in particle physics? They annihilate the vacuum energy from the equations and treat it like noise…but that’s the problem…it’s noise because there’s more down there in the vacuum

There are those who hypothesized that upon death the body and the mind are dropped. The body and the mind are not dropped. The body changes form (Transfigured), leaving it's most dense part behind, but retaining always its outer shell. The mind (not to be confused with the brain) goes with you, too, joining with the spirit and the body as one energy mass of three dimensions, or facets. You are a three-part being, made of body, mind, and spirit. You will always be a two-part being, not just while you are living on the Earth. Should you choose to return to this experiencing opportunity that you call life on Earth, your divine Self will once again separate it's TRUE dimensions into what you call body, mind, and spirit. In truth you are all one energy, yet with three distinct characteristics. As you undertake to inhabit a new physical body here on Earth, your ethereal body (as some of you have termed it) lowers its vibrations - slows itself from a vibration so rapid that it cannot even be seen, to a speed that produces mass and matter. This actual matter is the creation of pure thought - the work of your mind, the higher mind aspect of your three-part being. This matter is a coagulation of a million billion trillion different energy units into one enormous mass - controllable by the conscious mind. As these tiny energy units have expanded their energy, they are discarded by the body, while the mind creates new one. This the mind creates out of its continuing thought about Who You Are! The ethereal body "catches" the thought, so to speak, and lowers the vibration of more energy units (in a sense "crystallizes" them), and they become matter - the new matter of you. In this way, every cell of your body changes every several years. You are - quite literally - not the same person you were a few years ago. If you think thoughts of illness or disease, your body will translate these thoughts into physical form. GOD THE FATHER is knowing - the parent of all understanding, the begetter of all experience, for you cannot experience that which you do not know. GOD THE SON is experiencing - the embodiment, the acting out, of all that the Father knows of Itself, for you cannot be that which you have not experienced. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT is being - the disembodiment of all that the Son has experienced of Itself; the simple, exquisite is-ness possible only through the memory of knowing and experiencing. This simple being is bliss. It is God-state, after knowing and experiencing Itself. It is that for which God yearned in the beginning. Of course, you are well past the point where you must have it explained to you that the father-son descriptions of God have nothing to do with gender. I use here the picturesque speech of your most recent scriptures. Much earlier holy writings placed this metaphor in a mother-daughter context. Neither is correct. Your mind can best hold the relationship as: parent-offspring. Or: that-which-gives-rise-to, and that-which-is-risen. Adding the third part of the Trinity produces this relationship: That which gives rise to / That which is risen / That which is. This Triune Reality is God's signature. It is the divine pattern. The three-in-one is everywhere found in the realms of the sublime. You cannot escape it in matters dealing with time and space, God and consciousness, or any of the subtle relationships. On the other hand, you will not find the Triune Truth in any of life's gross relationships. The Triune Truth is recognized in life's subtle relationships by everyone dealing with such relationships. Some of your religions have described the Triune Truth as Father, Son. and Holy Ghost. Some of your psychiatrists use the term super-conscious, conscious, and subconscious. Some of your spiritualists say mind, body, and spirit. Some of your philosophers say a thing is not true for you until it is true in thought, word, and deed. When discussing time, you speak of three times only: past, present, future. Similarly, there are three moments in your perception - before, now, and after. In terms of spatial relationships, whether considering the points in the universe, or various points in your own room, you recognize here, there, and the space in between. In matters of gross relationships, you recognize no "in-between." That is because gross relationships are always dyads, whereas relationships of the higher realm are invariably triads. Hence, there is left-right, up-down, big-small, fast-slow, hot-cold, and the greatest dyad ever created: Male-Female. There are no in-between in these dyads. A thing is either one thing or the other, or some greater or lesser version in relationship to one of these polarities. Within the realm of gross relationships, nothing conceptualized can exist without a conceptualization of its opposite. Most of your day-to-day experience is foundationed in this reality. Within the realm of sublime relationships nothing which exists has an opposite. All is One, and everything progresses from one to the other in a never-ending circle. Time is such a sublime realm, in which what you call past, present, and future exists inter-relationally. That is, they are not opposites, but rather parts of the same whole; progressions of the same idea; cycles of the same energy; aspects of the same immutable Truth. If you conclude from this that past, present, and future exist at one and the same "time," you are right. (Yet now is not the moment to discuss that. We can get into this in much greater detail when we explore the whole concept of time - which we will do late.) The world is the way it is because it could not be any other way and still exist in the gross realm of physicality. Earthquakes and hurricanes, floods and tornadoes, and events that you call natural disasters are but movements of the elements from one polarity to the other. The whole birth-death cycle is part of this movement. These are the rhythms of life, and everything in gross reality is subject to them, because life itself is a rhythm. It is a wave, a vibration, a pulsation at the very heart of the All That Is. Your question infers that I choose these events, that it is My will and desire they should occur. Yet I do not will these things into being. I merely observe you doing so. And I do nothing to stop them, because to do so would be to thwart your will. That, in turn, would deprive you of the God experience, which is the experience you and I have chosen together. Inquire within, rather than without, asking: "What part of my Self do I wish to experience now in the face of this calamity? What aspect of being do I choose to call forth?" For all life exists as a tool of your own creation, and all of its events merely present themselves as opportunities for you to decide, and be, Who You Are. This is true for every soul, and so you see there are no victims in the universe, only creators. The Masters who have walked this planet all knew this. That is why, no matter which Master you might name, none imagined themselves to be victimized - though many were truly crucified. Each soul is a Master - though some do not remember their origins or their heritages. Yet each creates the situation and the circumstance for its own highest purpose and its own quickest remembering - in each moment called now. Judge not, then, the karmic path walked by another. Envy not success, nor pity failure, for you know not what is success or failure in the soul's reckoning. Call not a thing calamity, nor joyous event, until you decide, or witness, how it is used. For is a death a calamity if it saves the lives of thousands? And is a life a joyous event if it has caused nothing but grief? Yet even this you should not judge, but keep always your own counsel, and allow others theirs. There once was a soul who knew itself to be the light. This was a new soul, and so, anxious for experience. "I am the light," it said. "I am the light." Yet all the knowing of it and saying of it could not substitute for the experience of it. Now it came to pass that this soul yearned and yearned to know itself. And so great was its yearning that I one day said, "Do you know, Little One, what you must do to satisfy this yearning of yours?" "Oh, what, God? I'll do anything!" The little soul said. "You must separate yourself from the rest of us," I answered, "and then you must call upon yourself the darkness." "What is the darkness, o Holy One?" the little soul asked. "That which you are not," I replied, and the soul understood. And so this the soul did, removing itself from the All, yea, going even unto another realm. And in this realm the soul had the power to call into its experience all sorts of darkness. And this it did. Yet in the midst of all the darkness did it cry out, "Father, Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?" Even as you have in your blackest times. Yet I have never forsaken you, but stand by you always, ready to remind you of Who You Really Are; ready, always ready, to call you home. Therefore, be a light unto the darkness, and curse it not. And forget not Who You Are in the moment of your encirclement by that which you are not. But do you praise to the creation, even as you seek to change it. And know that what you do in the time of your greatest trial can be your greatest triumph. For the experience you create is a statement of Who You Are - and Who You Want to Be.

The human body is estimated to have about 15 trillion cells. That's a lot. But the universe is mighty big, far larger than we can observe when you take into account Inflation and the accelerated expansion of space in the universe. In just the observable universe there are an estimated 1 billion trillion stars. There's lot more of the universe far beyond the observable horizon. Number of cells in the brain vs number of stars in the universe? The universe wins hands down.
