He didn't really believe he had a shot.

The great thing about this scene is the fact that Leonard initiated the kiss. Usually in Hollywood we see the underdog getting kissed by his long time crush. But no, this scene is real because Leonard is the guy who obviously had greater feelings towards Penny. And to kiss her after she said, "Let's talk" suggests that he didn't want her to second guess things. He wanted her to know that he can take charge in a relationship.

Hate to break it to you, but the OP cut a chunk out. This is not exactly how it went. Leonard adked Penny if she'd heard of Shroedinger's cat. She said she'd heard only too much about it. Leonard was satisfied with that & *THEN* kissed her. She determined that the "cat" was alive & immediately said, "Let's go to dinner."

I like Rachel, but I've never liked Ross/Rachel drama. Boring. I do like Monica and Chandler much more. Leonard and Penny are great, and I love their story.

This was great. Leonard proved to every man out there that if you just hang in there long enough tolerate the rejection long enough it is possible for the hot girl to eventually tire of getting nailed by all the alphas and settle for you.

The gamble worked well for her. She was 21 when she started with this show. Absolute peak in her SMV prime. and she gave the series her peak years. She has been in some things since but nothing that will equal her in TBBT. She made that series. Hands down. But she is now past her sexual prime. Give it another 10 years and she will be on Hallmark.

Good talk there right at the end.

TBBT handled the #1 central character romance 10000% better than Friends. Ross and Rachel didn't belong together in the end after Rachel dated Joey and 100 other guys, and Ross waited 5-6 years to get back together with her. I know Friends is the more iconic show, but the secondary romance (Chandler and Monica) was handled perfectly and should've been the only one where the couple wound up together. The finale felt forced.TBBT also should've had a season-long arc in which Paige came between Sheldon and Amy--or, at least, featured an episode or two with Paige.

Not quite the Ross & Rachel kiss at Central Perk, but this was iconic and set the tone for the series. I'm quite sad that they're not together in real life, but at least with Penny and Leonard we can see how great a couple they would have been.

Actually they did in their early season of the show, but both Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco agreed to break it off in order to maintain their friendship and professionalism for the show

It sometimes does. I've seen my fair share of dorks ending up with these 'hot' women. Penny is insecure about her intelligence/academic success, so obviously she's looking for that in partner. The only unrealistic part of this show is these renowned physicists putting up with an asshole like Sheldon with all their busy schedule.

One of the many things/reasons/ways why this show was a huge success. Just listen to the audience reactions, true fans that loved the show. Week in week out the fans watched how each person individually reacted to the situation. To see Penny and Leonard evolve into something special.

In real life, they dated secretly...and when people say they don't have chemistry, they must not know they hooked up in real life.

Cutting out the entire talk they have before that makes what you posted terrible. It was a great scene, but when you chop out what makes the great it's terrible.

I wish these 2 had got married in real life! I'd put them in charge of Planet Earth and everything would suddenly be great again!
