Leoch Pure Lead with Carbon AGM Battery

This video is a quick review of what a pure lead AGM battery can do when carbon is added to the negative electrode.
Half the cost of a quality 12 volt 100 Ah LiFe battery, the PL+C battery by Leoch is an alternative for Lithium. The high cycle rate and resistance to sulfation damage from partial state of charge makes the PL+C attractive for house power in boats, Sprinter vans and such.
Advanced Lead-carbon
Scientists have known for years that sulfate accumulation prevents the classic lead acid from delivering sustained performance. Partial charge (PSOC) and aging are the main culprits because the negative lead plate is not sufficiently scrubbed. The advanced lead-carbon tech solves this by adding carbon to the negative plate (cathode). This turns the battery into a quasi-asymmetric supercapacitor to improve charge and discharge performance.
3000 cycles to 35% DOD
2800 cycles to 40% DOD
2000 cycles to 50% DOD
1100 cycles to 72% DOD
In addition, the sealed lead acid battery works well at cold temperatures and is superior to lithium when operating in subzero conditions.

Thank you for this video. I regularly use these batteries in 10 different solar trailers in the Austin area. The overcast is causing me to run around with generators on multiple occasions. The breakdown of life cycle per capacity percentage was very helpful! Thank you.

Hi Jeff, how would you compare Lifeline vs Northstar batteries for marine applications? I've heard lifeline are the best quality. However, the CCA rating on Lifeline are significantly less. For example, the Northstar 24 series puts out 840 CCA while the Lifeline 31 series STARTING battery puts out 810 CCA. Are they using the same rating systems? Do Northstars actually put out that much more CCAs? Thanks

Did I hear you say that four in series don't need balance??? Really??? Have done that and it worked for you??

No. He said EACH battery doesn't have a discrete balancer, so you can connect them in series. A lot of lithium 12v batteries will have a BMS which the manufacturer says cannot be used in series connections It'd be unwise to series any batteries without some kind of balancer.

I use this exact battery for work. We have solar trailers that uses two battery Banks each before these very batteries in series. Their voltage stays level between all four of them before they will rise in charge.
If carbon has been added, it is not pure lead.
