Many many years ago I had motored up from Kent for one of my occasional sojourns in the Lake District with my climbing instructor friend who lived in the western Lakes, and I stopped off in Keswick for a limbering up burst on the old Keswick climbing wall which was then situated alongside the Keswick Pencil Museum and the mountain biking hire centre. At the wall was a slip of a lad, blond haired and aged about 14, who was burning everyone else off the wall. He started at the mid range stuff (5a perhaps) and then moved rightwards, with no rope, onto the overhanging stuff. Everyone stopped to watch. When I motored on to my friends in Pica, West Cumbria, I mentioned all this and they said: "Oh yes, that's Leo, he's the wonder kid of Lakeland climbing." So It's been interesting to follow his career and I've particularly enjoyed his rock climbing videos of Lakeland climbing which feature Brown Slabs, Little Chamonix and Scafell - smaller scale perhaps but still evocative of those who love the Lake District and its special atmosphere.
yea, important to realize that all our fiction ultimately lies in reality, and we must get out there and explore new places to find/grasp that reality in totality
I don't know how Leo managed to keep his mind on the questions...
An inspiring person
