Sorin you don't have to justify yourself to anybody. There are no people on youtube with your style of fixing things and willing to share true skill. This is whole new level of fixing things. And all of us who are watching your videos have choice to repair things on our way or your way. So don't waste your precious time explain anything except how to fix something on your way. Thank you very much for your videos.

8:57 that test point actually reads PWM, not PWR, so that is most likely your "DIM" signal, since it stands for pulse width modulation :)

Sorin, your overengineered repair audio jack port will outlive the rest of the laptop. True, you spent a few more minutes than just switching for the proper part, but it is also more cost effective than ordering the part, waiting, charging the part, etc... Always Kudos to Macgyver solutions :)

Last 2 weeks i had 3 nice scores: pixel 2 xl - the undercharged battery, Samsung Note 10.1 - slightly pulled screen ribbon cable and Dell XPS 1330 - classic shorted cap, found by your method. multimeter and low voltage + 1 amp current to power rail, splashed by zippo fuel. It was fun. You making a people happy. Hello from Czech Rep.

Haha, you could also add a resistor to that bridge just to lower the screen brightness a tad so its not at full brightness which would help battery endurance. Lots you can do to laptops to get around problems and keep them running longer..

It was inverted : 8:57 is not power is PWM=DIM , and the other pin is ENABLE ,so it was DIM=3v ,ENABLE=0 ,better idea is to bridge EN pin with 5v.In that case everything is working ...Brightness..

Sorin, thank you for all the knowledge you share with us. Personally, I would put a layer of capton tape below and above the bridge to protect the wire from touching anything arround it. I would not trust the thin enamel coating on the wire. I've seen some chemicals (UV cured) that help maintaining such bridges intact and electrically safe but never used any of them. Also please be less dodgy with the laptop screws and use some magnets for them :) Now about the previous video, I did a similar laptop headphone jack repair using an audio extention cord from the motherboard straight out a small hole on the plastic chassi (customer approved the solution). Also tied a loose knot on the extention cord as a mechanical stress relief (not the best solution) and it's still working fine, so yeah be as dodgy as the customer can accept.

Still curious on this one to know if dim signal comes out of sio. Maybe a broken track or bad connector that could be traced. If sio handles kb signals maybe keyboard is fine too. But I guess you don't have the time. Enjoy a Happy valentine with the love of your life. And I don't mean your iPhone.

I also have integrated gpu (intel) that helps me watch videos and overall turn my screen on so i can use my laptop. And i know this aint the place to ask but Can i assume that my gpu is dead ? if they would give you the information you need and the access to the parts at a reasonable price.. then it would be different.. But if you know your stuff you can bypass a lot of garbage they put into these things.. Just ask a mechanic, those that tell you they don't do the same as Sorin are liars or have just started to work as a parts changer.. Not to knock the purist at all.. they are right in the fact that in the "perfect" world all things should be done correctly..But as Sorin said.. why take 6 hours hunting down the problem because you have no schematic.. when you can search and not find, just fix it and move on.. From a business standpoint that is the way to go.. If you guarantee your work and it works just as good as it used to.. then I for one wouldn't give a darn if my earphones are plugged into the same jack that was always there or a totally different jack as long as they worked! thanks Sorin.. I for one thing you do an excellent job and in a reasonable amount of time.. as those of us in business know the customer is always thinking we take to long and charge to much..
