She sang like an angel. Lena Horne had one of those voices that you could enjoy with your eyes closed, while sitting in your favorite chair. It's so soothing. Even in her last appearances, Lena Horne was a classy lady in every way.

Shan Shan It made me cry every time she looked away. I didn’t realize that she has to hide her blackness when she left for Hollywood and on top of that, she never thought she was an amazing singer. When in fact, she had a beautiful voice.

I was fortunate enough to meet her a few times thanks to Michael Frazier and Sherman Sneed. She was a lovely lady and very nice when you come to say hello. I loved the Lady and her music and was so lucky to see her in a few cities. Pure class act and a dynamite Supreme Song Stylist!

Alicia looks NOTHING like Lena Horne. Absolutely NOTHING. Just because they are both light skinned? Alicia WISH she looked like Lena Horne. However, Janet Jackson and Dorothy Dandridge do favor each other. But Alicia and Lena? Absolutely NOT.

@@juliandstewart5660 Not even close. Alicia's vernacular and enunciation are far removed from Ms Horne who radiated class, femininity, refinery and love. Resemble where? LOL. Ms Horne was the GOAT. She also survived a tremendous amount of adversity due to predatory Hollywood studio heads and buffoons whom Alicia wouldn't mind keeping company. No similarities or resemblance.

I saw her on Broadway.. In the 80's. She was Fantastic... If I remember correctly they had to keep the air conditioning off. Think they said she was allergic to it...
