Lena Horne Died 14 Years Ago, Now Her Daughter CONFIRMS The Rumors...
Lena divulged to Ebony that her parents separated when she was 3. Teddy simply wasn't ready for marital bliss. In fact, as detailed in "Stormy Weather," he faked sickness to convince his wife he had to travel west. Edna let him go but later told her daughter that he "was too young, too handsome, and too spoiled by the ladies to be ready for marriage." After Teddy disappeared, Edna left soon after, as her dreams of A-list success preceded her desire to be a mother.

    Lena Horne was a beautiful woman. She had a heart of Gold it's obvious she respected herself and her black sisters and brothers and due to the fact she didn't want to to play roles that dissected blacks in the wrong way says enough!!! Rip Lena and thank you for paving the way for the future 🙏 ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    Yes, the hate and also jealousy by non-blacks is is extremely real. I am sitting in a coffee place now and nothing but Mexicans. Whites, Asians are working here and buying coffee in a country not built by them but by blacks and this was orchestrated by the whites on purpose. It appears that both Lena's mother and father had some white as well as native American ancestry. It has been written that she was a descendant of senator John C. Calhoun and so she was of a prominent black social class and enjoyed a certain level of privilege despite the challenges she faced in a segregated time period. Her family was splintered but she was raised by loving grandparents who were themselves very politically active and progressive. This early exposure helped form Lena's views and she carried these experiences with her throughout her life. To be fair, she was resented by other people of color who felt she did not completely represent them in both appearance or class and because she, in their view was given special treatment. Maybe this was true, but she certainly was a beautiful, talented lady who worked hard and became an iconic figure in the entertainment world.

    What gets me about the NAACP back in the segregation era. There were a few black film directors in Hollywood. One of the black film 📽️ directors was Spencer Williams. Spencer Williams plays Andy Brown on the TV show "Amos And Andy". The NAACP were also the one's who shut down the Amos And Andy Show. Back then the NAACP tried to speak for all black people but they really wasn't helping the black people in the black community, they only showed up after the fact. The NAACP should have helped black Hollywood industry back then but they only helped their name back then. Ask Claudette Colvin because she actually was the 1st mother of the Alabama bus boycott who refused to give up her seat on the bus to a yt person and went to jail. And the NAACP had refused to help her because she was a teenage pregnant woman at the time. My said that when she was a kid that they had their own movie theater's that had all black movies. I sometimes watch a lot of Spencer Williams movies and one of my favorites are "Boarding House Blues" with Mom's Mabley in it and "Dirty Gerty". Now I'm beginning to think that a lot of black people back in the segregation era would rather be accepted by Yt people in Hollywood than doing business with their own people, especially when it comes to being a celebrity.😢

    yo, content creators - you cannot let AI pull all you footage and not check it. The name of the blonde actress who shows up over and over again (i'm assuming as Lena) is a foible that can't be ignored. I mean - Cecily Tyson appeared (not talked about) and various other random NOT Lena Horne related video clips. I undersstand that we have the wonderful content filler that can be provided by AI - but CREATORS MUST curate at a minimum. If it's wrong, it's wrong. If it's wrong and you don't recognize that it's wrong - guess what!!? This probably isn't the topic that you should be reporting on. I'm going to give this a 6/10. WAY too many mistakes visually. Not to mention the bot calling W. E. B. Dubois "Web". edit your content. review it. If you don't care enough about your viewers to ensure that you are posting HIGH quality content (aided by AI or not - AI is good, it's not perfect) Then ultimately your credibility suffers and people will no longer come to see your videos - despite catchy headlines and thumbnails. This is basic quality control. Run your business with excellence. There is enough junk and spam out there. Earn your views - don't play your audience cheap. We're not stupid.

    I know this video has nothing to do with Diana Ross but that is where I first learned of Miss Lena Horne when she did an amazing role in The Wiz. The songs she sang "Home," and "Believe In Yourself," wow. As did Miss Ross in Lady Sing's The Blues open up new doors for new fans to discover Miss Billie Holiday; and early in Ross' career she featured Miss Ethel Waters sang a duet with her on a TV show. This is what stars of today are lacking ... Their history makers. Wait, Miley Cyrus did have Dolly Parton on her New Years Special. Love you Lena !

    Her family was upset and wouldn't talk to her because she married a white man. So... racism goes both ways. Funny thing is, I didn't know she was black. I thought she was Cuban or South American.

  • @lettiegrant9447

    @lettiegrant9447

    You need to understand that being Cuban and South American is not a race it's a nationality. Her race is black. There are black Cubans and there are White Cubans so she could only be Cuban if she was born there. Then she would be a black Cuban. She was born in America so she was a black American. Educate yourself on the difference between race and nationality.🤔

    Umm you keep showing a white actress who have nothing to do with our Leana! I mean their connection doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the narrative. You keep talking about her great life’s work fighting for racial justice and then there are these clips of Anglo American actors who are pretty but seem to be there to capture our attention. I don’t understand. Or maybe I do…
