    The recent Ecto-1 might be the only set I did a hard pass on applying all the stickers. Since it's based on the recent film, it's meant to look a bit old and busted. So there's 38 out of 53 stickers that are just rust decals. I wanted to keep my Ecto-1 clean. I've also seen other people display their Ecto-1 without these stickers.

    I seem to remember back in my youth a handful of the older sets required a sticker be applied across multiple bricks at one time. These were particularly annoying, since it became impossible to break a set back down without permanently damaging it. Since this was over a decade ago I am afraid I cannot recall many specific details, but I do remember at least one set with the offending multi-brick stickers was an automobile of some kind.

    I'm fine with most stickers. What's inexcusable in my opinion: those big stickers that go over multiple pieces. I haven't seen them in a while, so I'm hoping they stopped with them altogether. EDIT: Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I'm actually too young to remember this on real LEGO. I saw it in another video. MY memory is actually from an off-brand set my uncle got me as a kid.

    Not having stickers on lego sets would just be way better because they would limit their pre-printed bricks and only when necessary, that makes that you can re-use them again in another build. Like the newspaper or paintings or computer screens, ...

    But with stickers, they could make more of the same piece and not have it specially printed, and just have the stickers needed in a specific set. Also what if they the same piece but have to make several prints for different sets, they could just use stickers. And another thing you said about limiting printed bricks? HAVING STICKERS LITERALLY LIMITS THE PRINTS AND ONLY USES PRINTS WHEN NEEDED BECAUSE THEY USE STICKERS. And with stickers, builds can be more detailed without having to make specialized printed bricks.

    As a Speed Champions fan, EVERY set is sticker haven. I expected that there will be less stickers on the sets every since they went from 6 studs-wide to 8 studs-wide since more detail can be brick built but that was clearly not the case. In race cars especially it feels like every 10th piece you put needs a sticker thanks to all the logos and complex shapes used by today's race cars. Double packs are even worse as they often come with TWO stickers sheets with each having more than TWENTY if not THIRTHY different stickers and that's not counting duplicates. The great majority of building time with Speed Champions comes from applying the stickers alone, and that's not even counting the extra time spent if you want to properly align the stickers. LEGO even had a bad habit of splitting headlights of cars into two or more different stickers each(looking at you GR Supra) which makes me so glad that starting this year LEGO has finally decided to exclusively print headlights which honestly removes a lot of frustration regarding them.

    Stickers seriously aren’t excusable to me anymore. Lego has continued to raise in price, which I’m not opposed too if the quality rises too, but I don’t really see these big jumps in quality, removing stickers and printing these would be a good way to justify these price increases.

  • @TheFrogChannel

    @TheFrogChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    Price jumps are only good if they're on par with inflation. Otherwise keeping the prices the same for a long time would force Lego to produce lower-quality parts to meet those costs.

  • @bruced09

    @bruced09

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TheFrogChannel the problem is that LEGO has made several jumps, both with and without inflation. Similar sized sets should be similar priced over time (obviously accounting for inflation, a 10$ set 10 years ago would obviously not be 10$ now), but LEGO has many sets that are definitely not in that position. Personally removing stickers and printing everything would be at lest something to make those increases feel more… I dunno legitimate?

    how much paper and adhesives would they save by printing on the part vs printing sheets of stickers? I can't imagine printing on the part is more costly or time consuming than stickers that any 8 year old would be challenged with applying correctly. The boxes do say "8+" after all.

    For minifigures, then prints are an absolute yes. But otherwise I wish everything was a sticker or no print at all, simply because sometimes I want to use a part but it's printed weird. I can understand it for road signs and such, but I've got some weird printed parts. I've painted over prints or scrubbed them away with Brasso so many times it's not even funny. Though they should limit how many stickers they use and where they're used, I don't think printing everything is the answer either. Then you get stuff like Bionicle where it never needed prints because the parts were detailed to begin with, but Hero Factory used prints that were often annoying. How am I supposed to use an armor plate that says "Furno 3.0" on anything that isn't Furno 3.0? Wish it was a sticker, or not even there.

    The original Imperial Dropship has a few Imperial icon stickers to be applied. One is applied in the middle, but the other two are incorrectly applied 90 degrees. It gets better, as its promotional images all have the stickers displayed wrong at 90 degrees. Also all these stickers are on my favorite piece, the "super smooth" slope. The anniversary version appears to display the stickers correctly this time. Another set I have with sticker issues is the Joker Lowrider from the Lego Batman Movie. The Joker has a gun with a flag that says "BANG" on it. The instructions tell you to put the BANG stickers on and they don't look right. The BANG stickers seem to be displayed wrong at a 90 degree angle compared to the promotional images that appear to be the correct way, which would be holding the gun horizontally so the BANG text is displayed horizontally, instead it's incorrectly displayed vertically.

    I have a drawer dedicated to and subsequently labeled "DECALS", in which I put all sheets of stickers, whether I've used them all and the empty sheet is just basically trash, or whether I've deemed any number of the stickers unnecessary and/or a waste of time.

    Wow, I had the Blue Bullet set (didn't know that was the name until now) and let me tell you it did take a while putting the stickers on (couldn't do it perfectly, obviously) but overtime the set was taken apart and for some of the pieces I took the sticker off in order to use the piece.

    Worst sticker experience has to be the Discovery Shuttle. The inside of the cargo bay doors have stickers for the thermal protection on the actual ship. On the set its 12 stickers each side so 24 stickers on the inside of a curved pieces and because some of the curves have a lip on the edge facing inwards one wrong angle and WOOPS there it goes, the one bright side is by the time you get to the last one you are well practiced in how to do it
