LEGO Shopping... BUT I END UP CHANGING THE CITY!

Ойын-сауық

First I went LEGO SHOPPING... then worked on the AMUSEMENT PARK... then made some big changes to the CITY! Wow... that escalated quickly! The city changes open up a bunch of space and in my opinion look really good!

maybe it's just an opinion, but I think grid street layouts look great! I live in a major city that's laid out as a grid because it was built on top of what used to be an enormous stretch of farmland, so it's not an unnatural layout by any means(barring that all human infrastructure can be considered unnatural). Humans build their cities based on what the land was like before - whether that's building a road that curves along a mountainside, twists between houses that existed before the industrial era, or repurposing organized farmland. So your grid isn't unrealistic!

I like the idea of having large open chasms throughout the city that the people just accepted and built around.

If you did want to cover the access holes, you could add a hinged trap door to cover the hole and glue some base plates to it and make a large lake which would look good when closed and shouldn't be more that a brick high so won't get in the way when you open it. Just a thought.

I was going to say some kind of curtain (like they put around conference tables). That way he can still get to the storage behind the hole. Would probably be the easiest/cheapest option. I like your idea too, but I think it would be logistically difficult to execute well.

I 100% agree that the grid looks pretty good! It unlocks mire space and adds nice camera shots! Also, it adds more realism if you're looking for that because lots of big cities have grids like yours so I think it's awesome.

Jordan, your city is great the way that you build it. Don't let others'negative opinions or critiques get you to second guess your great designs. Positive suggestions can be helpful but ultimately you drive the Bricksie bus. One thought you can take or leave is to make Lego Movie type backdrops for your access holes like the Infinite Abyss that Lord Business has in his evil lair. Or maybe the Kitty poster... Whatever you come up with will be great though because your Lego room is amazing because of your designs. Keep up the good work with work and family life! 😁🙌

something I've been experimenting with in my own city is a 2x2 mils plate that I swap out seasonally. What I mean by that is I made 4 2x2 mils plates and I have one for spring, summer, fall, and winter. this way I'm able to use my holiday themed sets for my city and not just for display

Please don’t remove any shelving. Not only is it just a bandaid for the city it’ll only create more issues in trying to find homes for the collection. A big part of collecting anything is cycling out old to make room for new. Just did this myself. As far as the opening go I love the residential houses around them. If you can keep them all facing out you can put trees in the backyard and imply a wooded area in that opening. I do also have a recommendation for the amusement park. I know it’s a lot to move but swapping the park and the campground would make more sense. The park itself would be an extension to the beach. Many beaches have amusement park rides on their boardwalks or piers. It would also put the park next to the zoo and act as an animal kingdom to go with your Disney castle. The train tracks would also be less intrusive to the campground.

Hey there, so excited I had to write. I just left the Lego store in Berlin ( Germany) that usually gets items in the PAB wall before they are on the wall in Canada. The new items they have are great . Brown ladders, pre-molded pine trees! Dark grey rock faces. Plus dark green (tree house) leaves. Finally great stuff for landscaping. So keep your eyes open. ( don’t recall seeing them the last time you shopped)

About the holes, what about adding some "fake modulars" around the edges of it? Something like just the façade of buildings, similar to those you had on the elevated platform before, but with less floors, so they're easy to be removed when you need to work there, and to avoid (re)moving your existing buildings.

  • @elwingy
    @elwingy Жыл бұрын

you can just tile of baseplates with trans blue tiles for the 3 holes in the city, make them look like big lakes. They wont be much of a trouble removing and will definitely make the city look nice and more "complete".

Love the changes! I think the Dino exhibit fits perfectly in that spot and makes that whole area a great tourist destination. It’s also super smart to spend time planning the residential area/street since you’ve been talking about expanding the train station back there and any road building you do will effect that. I’m so excited to see how it all works out!

So Bricksie, when the new Disney Castle is done, will you use it'd blueprints in order to upgrade your Double one? Or is it too big for that location? As for the Diner, what if you fused it with the Bowling alley? That way you can add in a main entrance for the Alley it's top floor. I think you have several ways you can go about it, but it might mean you have to give the Alley a second floor, as well. So think it over, maybe it can save you a 1/2 baseplate.

I appreciate all the hard work, as always. Random thoughts As the biggest fan of the forest areas and it's future huge warehouse expansion 😁 I think either the hocus pocus set of the haunted mansion set could be moved there. Those two residential building could go and make room for more amusement park Until "we" get more room with a warehouse you could start working on making the areas more cohesive with sections; matching building facades, lamp posts; different themed areas of the amusement park (jungle themed, space theme, medieval) What about plexiglass sections with a water Lego lake over it for the cut out covers? They could be easily lifted Just random thought and keep up all the hard work.

You could have a chapel for the LEGO city, space permitting. I'm not sure of the religious status of the local minifigs. I'd expect that many would be agnostic or atheist on pop culture street. Then again, in Harry Potter they do celebrate Christmas, despite practicing witchcraft. Those LEGO Creator families surely believe in the 3-in-1 trinity of God. Probably the beach-goers aren't mostly church-goers. The forest and city dwellers are a toss-up. And the medieval guys seem religious. Perhaps there is a LEGO religion: "In the beginning was the LEGO duck, and Ole Kirk Anderson. And the brick was not yet, but in wood. In the forty and some year LEGO created minifigure. In the image of LEGO created they them."

Yay, new space! (I’m an expansion denier.😏) 3. And in case I haven’t said it, the raised train line and it’s stations look great. So does the beach area.👍👍 4. Do you think you could raise the Disney Castle a little? Or maybe that’s the plan…
