Does the LEGO TITANIC FLOAT!?

Ойын-сауық

Today we have WAY TO MUCH FUN while testing if the LEGO TITANIC FLOATS!? This massive 9090 piece set measures 135cm long!... It does not fit in our bathtub! So we had to upgrade the body of water with the help of a swimming pool! At first, the LEGO TITANIC floats quite well but then came the icy waters and ice burg... That was the true test. Find out if the LEGO TITANIC floats in this new epic!

    The center of gravitiy is too high and/or the width ist too small: The model will capsize as all models with this weakness are doing. You need to lower the enter by gravitiy by using a keel as done for sailing yachts. With this additional weight the model will be to heavy and sinks. My answer: No, the model doesn't float.

  • @pieterboelen2862

    @pieterboelen2862

    Exactly my thinking. Just some really heavy weight down below as ballast and she should be fine. Real ship would've had fuel compartments down below; and use much lighter materials on the superstructure. That's how they prevent capsizing. Still, clearly she DOES float. As basically all LEGO must. Has to be difficult to make something that actually stays steadily *below* the water.

    I think you should do more "Will it float" videos with Lego ships as they come out. If you have them there are some Creator ships that could be tested too. We know the boats made from the pre-cast hulls will float (like the big exploration ship you started with) but it is still interesting to see if the builds will stay the right way in the water. And then you have tons of other boats in various series that could be tested.

    Without a heavy keel as a counter weight it's unlikley to work. But if you added one or more of those weights from the old Lego ships and some inflated ballons into the engineering spaces (by removing the engines etc) that might help overcome the top-heavyness.

    Yesterday I wanted to see how it floats but found nothing. Thank you for enjoying my curiosity) I am interested is it possible to make that lego boats with underwater parts made of many pieces float if we put styrofoam blocks inside below the waterline and prevent them from flipping using lead pieces as ballast in the lowest parts of hull.

    Add ballast to the hull, and make it water tight. The space between the bricks allow water to seep in. The red part needs a water proof coating, then it might work.

    Lego created some heavy pieces to put on the bottom of ships a long long time ago to make them float, i used to use them in the bathtub when i was a kid lol. maybe try putting a bunch of those on the bottom

    If lego actually followed the engineering of a boat and the full design with the full bottom and keel it would actually float and not topple over Maybe an easier way instead of building one would be some sort weight attached to the bottom...

  • @virgiliod.9436

    You can find a way to make it float upright. You can extend a long sturdy single narrow fin from the center and at the end of that attach a metal weight. You will need deeper waters though.
