I find it amazing how even after the many years since Mixels ended, Lego still uses their ball and socket system pieces in their sets to this day, even going as far as to making new pieces for them too.

@@matthewbrown7834 Yeah, I am sad we don't see other colors. I heard (don't take this as fact) the reason for that is that other colors don't have the same tolerance as the grey pieces, or that the grey ones just are the most reliable color to get right. Maybe some day we'll see other colors. I will say that at least they're grey, and not, say... _bright red, blue, or yellow._ Still, it's about time they try and get the mixtures right, since using those pieces is basically cheating in some builds.

@@jmaster2855 interesting I didint know that. It is good that thare a neutral color and not made a bright red or blue to be easily spotted amongst other parts and it's weird that these small ball joints technically existed long before mixels. There was a Milky Way/Lego collaboration in 90's (only in Russia, as I know), when they bundled small Lego sets with their bars. There were the vehicle series and the farm animals series. And the vehicle series had some very obscure elements, like the glassy transparent 2x2 slopes and tiny 2x2 yellow wheel platforms. I used these wheels with 4x2 plates to make skateboards, lol.

One of them is still his profile pic on my phone. I think they really hit home the pure essence and unbridled creativity of LEGO. My favorite was Flur. Such a cute little dragon!

I think it was a great line too, with the variety it just begged for you to come up with your own ideas and build them, I remember my brother using the insect pod to make all sorts of weird spaceships, whereas I tried to modify the existing designs to look better.

Started with Ninjago but I'm getting ready to move onto everything else. A lot of my list was from the last decade (Chima, Nexo, MK, The Lego Movie, Hidden Side, etc), so now I'm combing through these videos to find things I missed, get a feel for what's nostalgic, and idk, I feel the need to say thank you for providing so much knowledge, good source to give me a starting point to fall down some rabbit holes.

LEGO Master Builder Academy was designed to teach kids how to become better at LEGO building. You could buy the level 1 kit 1 (the starter kit), and then the following 2 level 1 kits and 3 more kits in level 2 could be bought in a subscription that would send you one kit every few months or so. They later released the level 1 and 2 kits separately to be bought instantly, and they released level 3 and level 4 kits at some point. I only ever got the first 6 kits, but I was very happy with them. The parts selection was really good for coming up with your own creations, and every time you got a new kit, you gained access to a whole new set of parts. It helped that each level had its own color scheme so the builds you came up with didn't run into the common issue of looking like a rainbow mish-mash. That way, you could focus on more of the shaping, though proper usage of color was one of the things taught by the kits. The instructions weren't just instructions. They were big handbooks made of a more durable material and contained tips and tricks about how to build better builds. There was this whole cool-looking website where you could watch videos and read about building techniques, and a gallery where you could upload creations you made. You could get achievements and graduate through several levels of master building and download and print diplomas showing your progress. It was a really cool experience with a surprising amount of depth to it. Unfortunately the website is long gone, but I would still recommend buying the kits if you can get them for a good price. They are a fantastic way to become a better builder. It certainly sharpened my skills.

I remember getting X-Pod as my first legit Lego set for my 5th birthday, after so long of asking my dad to get a Bionicle set (like my older sibling), and X-Pod paved the way for me to build weird and strange creatures, I miss it so much Pd: I had the green one

Haha! I think one of my earliest memories is playing with one of those McDonald’s legos. Ronald McDonald taught me in those weird VHS tapes that if you put your left hand on the left wall in the maze you’ll find your away out. I had no idea they did Avatar legos, and the the fire nation ship really reminds me of some boats I used to make.

Man I’ve had all those huge LEGO pods clogging up my parts bins for years but it’s been so long since I’ve actually heard the name x-pods. I remember trying to make builds where all the pieces would fit inside one of the pods. I actually think they were some of the first LEGO sets I tried collecting (as much as 6-year-old me could). Definitely an interesting relic of a line to be sure

It was really cool seeing the X-Pods in this one. Those things were some of my favorite sets growing up, I think I had almost every one from the first 3 or 4 waves. I really kinda wish Lego would do something like that again with the canister that's just as much part of the set as it is the packaging and storage; I used the lids as shields on Bionicle mocs on tons of occasions and even found some way, albeit fairly crude, to use the transparent canister as a canopy for a spaceship.

Nick, I really love LEGO rewind it’s just so interesting to look back at old themes and see what was good and bad about a theme, but this is the first time I’ve actually been surprised. Until today I do not no cyber master was a thing. Technic planet? I had no idea it existed. I knew about most things in this video (yes even that weird japan paper thingy) but today I learned something new about the LEGO companys history. Keep up the good work.

I'm sad for the Mixels too. I really wish they could make a special or something for a finale. One of the reasons they probably stopped making them is because Cartoon Network could not make enough episodes; After season 4, they only made a couple. I should have asked my parents to buy more when I was younger.

Those X-Pods were so cool! There was a print&play kind of "chess-y" tabletop game for the first wave that I didn't really get but loved to think about and often attempted to play. The game was called "X-Pod Play Off", there still is a side mirroring the rules (with the snappy disclaimer "Lego, if you're not happy about this, think about maintaining your sites better. Your URLs have lifespans measured in weeks", which I totally love). Come to think of it, that was my first ever contact with that kind of game, something that now is an integral part of my life.
