I don't entirely agree because there are merits to a figure of a Transformers character not transforming, but I do agree that the large majorty of Transformers fans and collectors (me included) are most interested in the transformation aspect, toys that are an action figure, puzzle, and car model all in one. It's what makes these toys special.

Another reason that the R.E.D line flopped is because a lot of them were uh, not good. They had odd color choices, bad plastic, malformed accessories, loose joints, and posed a lot worse than a good chunk of modern mainline figures. Yes, most of them had the accuracy part, but they felt like leftover plastic and the fact that there were more posable, better quality, transformable, and sometimes more accurate figures out there, whether official or third party, definitely made them flop.

No matter how others say about non-transforming Transformers figures, even if it defeats the purpose by in it's name, it will always be and always has been a BRAND. There's bound to have variety and types of merchandise. With that said, I don't mind the concept. Mainly because it's a "representation" of one mode (alt or robot) that strives for screen accuracy from the source material and not worrying any compromises and issues from a traditional Transformers figure that can actually transform (some were a hit or miss, depending on the tolerances that vary copy to copy) and more articulation. The concept of it is just a novelty and an option imo. There are plenty of options out there if you feel like a certain concept or thing in it's brand is not for you.

Most collecters consider transformers that don't transform sacralige, but a lot of those same collecters will get one that does, never transform it once, leave in a cool pose on their shelf for the rest of it's life, never messing with it, and complain when it's inaccurate or missing articulation. You also see some of this style of figures at the numerous dollar stores during Xmas. These figures are great to randomly place around your space. I doubt they cant make transforming figures for more accessible prices. I still recall when I bought Leader ROTF Prime for a really good price at a local store, and he still puts some modern figures to shame, same for Battle Blade Bumblebee, which was re-released recently as a Voyager price instead of deluxe just to further prove how cheap Hasbro has become. i really think R.E.D. should have stuck to designs that werent easily translated to toys, such as animated and prime. it seems a little counterproductive to release toys that cant transform of the designs that specifically look that way TO transform and having the cartoon follow the toys method, instead of characters that came design first and often transformed less accurately in their cartoons. (that, and, i really just want more actually good prime toys LOL)

My first Transformers figure actually came from the Tiny Titans line of non-transforming figures. It was part of the RID 2015 line, but featured figures from other continuities as well, so I was so confused when I got Shockwave because he wasn't in the show.

To be fair, there are loads of transformers that don't transform that are great! (e.g. R.E.D.,YOLOPARK,REVOLTECH), and plenty Transformers that DO transform that Suck.

I do think the R.E.D. series occasionally has one advantage. You can get faithful versions of certain designs of specific characters in R.E.D. that you otherwise wouldn't be able to for a comparable price point. For example, the Transformers Prime Knockout you mentioned. But also things like a more accurate G1 Prime (without the wheels visible) or G1 Megatron (without the treads on his back that come with his new altmode since we lost the gun). I got R.E.D. Megatron for that reason, and man does it look good on my shelf, commanding my upscale Devastator to go and destroy the Autobots.

Another suggestion for future videos about transformers has to either be third-party figures or cartoon/movie specific line types(like entire armada line or only age of extinction figures or other examples).

I personnally think the Transformers franchise has arrived to a point that legitimate non transformable figures (because at the start of the transformers franchise there was just no point at all of doing this) just as an anime as it's cool figures, like the threezero brand that make really cool and accurate non transformable movie figures (but as a very high price), even tho i'm not interested in those, but i see why some people would want those kind of figures because it's a really cool display for the fans

I never really knew about the Action Masters. I first found out about them in the DW profile comic series. The Decepticon that came with Catgut, Treadshot, had a pretty cool look. Would have been good for a drone soldier. Also the Targetmaster creatures would have made for cool for battle backup weapons. So rather than having a partner like the old Targetmasters, they can feely move through the battlefield and backup anyone who needs it.

Yes, they're expensive, but they get the design as close to the CGI model as possible and more often then not festure die-cast contruction for the joints with sublime weathering all around. The Premium scale Bumblebee I have is such a centerpiece (mostly cause it's gigantic)

I think part of the reason Action Masters got the hate they did was because, as you said, that was the main toyline, all these others, they were supplementary to the main figures or little offshoots, while there were still other figures that deliver on the promise in the name of the franchise, but in 1990 it was Micromasters and Action Masters, and that was it. It's sort of like Teen Titans Go, it would probably still have been disliked, but the fact that it was the only DC cartoon on for quite a length of time, that is what drew the real hate.
