Once I was bored I came up with a theme called Dinosaur Kingdom, which is set in the 21st century where Paleontologist discover a large underground cavern, they explore and find Dinosaurs still alive. More arrive and discover new types of Dinosaurs, that are smaller and are humanoid and have developed their own culture, so the UN lists the cavern or Dino World as protected. While paleontologists study them and build a peaceful relationship with them there are others who seek to exploit them for personal desires. So the UN puts together a taskforce to protect the Dino World from poachers and criminals. Yes this theme is combat orientated I even had people wielding machineguns. The main part of the sets are largely brick built dinosaurs with a small, medium or large vehicle (depending on the set), minifigure being one good guy, bad guy and a humanoid dinosaur (different species, bigger sets with 2 or more) and a baby dinosaur (matching the humanoid one in the set). The baby dinosaur is usually the objective for the set with the bad guy(s) trying to kidnap them to auction them off and the good guy and Humanoid Dinosaur protecting them!

Interestingly, they all kind of resemble military vehicles. The Iron Predator is a tank that looks like something out of Halo, the Fire Hammer is a Lego Humvee, Urban Avenger is a modified army buggy, and the T1 Typhoon is basically an army helicopter with those dual cockpits and gunner turrets.

  • @marcellosilva9286

@@Autisticguywithacamera Oh shit, you're right lol, I never noticed that before, but since you pointed it out, it makes sense. I have something to add though, those designs work because they're not simply realistic military vehicles, there's bits of personality added on to them - For example, the Fire Hammer isn't just a Humvee, it's a goddamn _V8 with an exposed engine_ for some reason, with a turret that is more emphasized and oversized. The Iron Predator isn't just a Scorpion from Halo, it lacks a roof, it's adorned with dinosaur teeth (giving it somewhat of a tribal look), and while the base of the main gun isn't as large, the barrel itself is significantly bigger than a Scorpion's main cannon, which makes it look extra dangerous. Little details like this can go a long way in making the vehicles feel distinct, along with the awesome red and tan colour schemes (with the green highlighted bits). Thanks for replying to a comment I left a while ago, some of those can be a blast.

I think the traditional look is better for their toys plus even though they’re not scientifically accurate, scaled dinosaurs are much cooler looking.

I love the Rewind series so much. I didn't personally grow up with a lot of the stuff touched up in the series, but I recall seeing stuff like G1 of Bionicle, Agents (which I owned sets of both), Exo Force, and Mission to Mars. Your videos bring back that inner kid in me, begging my parents to go to Toys R Us, or Target to look at LEGO sets. Like I mentioned in a comment earlier, if I had the ability to go back in time, I'd tell young me to save the instructions and keep the parts separated for later, so I could rebuild them and thoroughly relive those memories.

Dino Attack was my first ever introduction to actual LEGO sets as well the Creator dino sets. They're still intact for the most part but the "Dinos" are still in perfect condition. It was my childhood. I still think the new Dino molds are decent and well implemented in the Jurassic World sets.

People give Lego a lot of crap for the nonlethal "tranquilizer" plots, but I kind of liked those more than sets where the the heroes are using lethal weapons. Lego stuff was so expensive, big and distinct, it felt like a waste to just kill off your awesome new toy or have it be another boss battle. That's why I liked the infected mask thing so much for Bionicle; if you wanted your awesome new toy to not be evil, just say its tamed! Of course, a kid can imagine whatever they want, but when I was that age it helped to have some starting ideas.

Jim Hag lol I always used to just resurrect all my characters after battles. I used to have like 50 minifigs and by the end it would be around 4 or 5 heroes agains 1 or 2 big bads, and only maybe two of the heroes would survive to the very end. And then the next day they’d all magically be alive again with no connection to the previous plot 😂

LEGO had mass-destruction energy weapons in Exo Force (Not counting Star Wars), but the enemies were robots that had no remorse for who they're gonna kill or have killed, especially when Meca One acknowledged Sensei Keiken as his creator, his father. If I had my own LEGO battle lore, I would have human soldiers that would survive even if their mecha exploded, much like the classic anime Yatterman.

I had the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 dinosaur set. It's probably my favorite dinosaur set simply because it was completely made out of bricks instead of being a few giant molds of plastic. The color schemes were pretty fantastic, with some great contrast with the red and tan for the carnivores and grey and brown for the herbivores (though they did cross over colors across different sets pretty often). The designs were distinct enough to easily tell what dinosaur they represented. Well, except for the Deinosuchus; dino-gators don't get much love. Sadly, the biggest thing holding them back were their joints. Some sets, like the Pteranodon, had really simple joints that were sturdy but flexible enough to provide a large range of articulation. Other sets used those joints for the dinos' tails and feet. The Stegosaurus had it bad, though, with legs you could barely move and feet that were extremely hard to pose at all. However, many sets used the ball and joint system, as seen in Knights Kingdom, to varying degrees of success. They worked wonderfully with the long necks of the Diplodocus, allowing you to pose his neck however you want, but were really hit and miss with the rest. I think the problem was that some joints worked better at different angles. They were stiff and sturdy in some positions but light and flexible in others, and how useful each setup was pretty much depended on the set you had. I think the T-Rex got it worst. Poor T-Rex. Everything about it just didn't work right. His knee joints were too weak to support him in most angles, so it would fall right over if you didn't set up its legs just right. Even worse, his hip joints were so stiff they'd often get dislocated from his body during simple attempts to reposition them. His jaw was a simpler joint system that was too weak to hold it in any position other than falling wide open, and his arms were so awkward to handle that they'd usually rip right off when attempting to pose them. Still, I think they were mostly great sets that I wish LEGO showed more interest in replicating and iterating upon. I'm sure they can make some fantastic designs with the incredible pieces they have now. I guess we'll just have to see. At least these dinos got their time to shine when they fought giant robots in the first Brickmaster magazine!

The sets today are neat but they just don't feel the same as the old sets, they don't have the same heart as the old ones. The idea that you can mix and match sets like those dinosaurs seems archaic now.

I thought I had scored big when I I saw these loose Lego Jurassic park figures being given away for the price of shipping and handling. I placed an order for a raptor and a T-rex. When they finally arrived they were cheap knock offs and the T-rex was the size of the raptor. I guess it really was too good to be true

I remembered thinking back then when the set was first released that dino attack was the first lego dinosaur set I’ve discovered in this old generation, before I discovered that there was more sets by the time I joined the Jurassic Park / dinosaur figure community on KZread.

I was going to review Sonic Mania before this... then the Mania Plus leaks happened and I realized how dated my "Mania Vanilla" script would be as Plus will surely address some things I brought up. So yes, I am postponing the Mania review until Plus is released and I get to play that. Sorry, everybody. Until then, I'll keep uploading videos.

Dino attack is legit one of my favorite themes. It is one of the most violent themes Lego has ever made, needlessly edgy and scary, and it...is...awesome. We will never see another Lego theme are edgy, militaristic, and violent as it ever again. Perhaps that's for the best but it will always have a special place in the minds and hearts of millions of Lego fans.

I’ve been really enjoying these videos of LEGO rewind. It’s fun to look back at all these childhood sets and see how they’ve evolved over the years. I loved the Dino attack theme when I was a kid and I always wanted that helicopter but I was never able to get it. If you haven’t already you should try and do a knights kingdom one I have some pretty fond childhood memories of that theme.

Got the Spinosaurus for the Studio Jurassic Park 3 set, got hold of it when I picked up a contain full of Lego bricks at a thrift store with peace's for the tree build but no plane. There was all so some early 2000 type Star Wars sets from the Tie Fighter, Clone Wars V - Wing, an a Boba Fett ship. Did pick up some of the dino's from the first Jurassic World movie, pretty cool an the youngest of my nieces and nephews have had some fun playing with them.

So much nostalgia through this series. I'm almost half a decade younger than you but still remember many of the sets fondly. Had The brachio, mosasaur and stegosaur from the first set here. Q: Will you be covering Fright Knights? I only remember my neighbor having the batlord's castle, but moreover he left an impression from the original Lego racers
