See this is what I love about ninjago; you can have so much variety. You can go with these crazy things like the ultra sonic/stealth raider, that wouldn’t be thought of as something in the universe without the show or symbols plastered all over it, you can go with these way cool vehicles that turn into weapons, or you can go with these truly artworkish sets like this one, where there is little in terms of machines or crazy ness. Or something in between, like Destiny’s Bounty, where it’s this Asian-inspired ship but turns into a flying vessel. I think the Lego ninjago line gives a truly wonderful potential to designers and people who play/collect the sets alike.

Very true it has an amazing storyline and 14 different realms ( There used to be 16 but 2 were destroyed )

Definitely in love with this set, and I'm not even a Ninjago fan. It just feels so complete and beautiful.

Man if only I had known of this set's existence when it was released. Not sure what it would have cost here in the Netherlands but I think it would have been a much better deal than nowadays.

anyone else think that instead of jesper and Claire they should've put in ronin and morro before he turned into a ghost?

Ronin would have made more sense, he even comes to the temple a few times in season 7, I would have liked Morro in the set instead of Jesper or Claire but I think young Morro should have got his own set.

I love all the details, especially the columns on the temple. The projection mechanism is an Ingenious feature.

I have this set, and it's currently sitting on my living room table. It's a really nice set piece, complete with a wide variety of minifigures to choose from. I've even played with it with my brothers. Really good set all around, I would recommend to any LEGO Fan, even if said fan isn't in to Ninjago.

is it possible to convert this into a modular? like adding in a baseplate and water texture? feel that this could be used with the city and dock sets to make a large complex.

Excellent camerawork in this video. Loved the pan down the main temple!

I am debating on getting this as I don't collection Ninjago sets but I do love the historic value to this set and this is why I might get this.

Kyle Playz the only thing I don't like about Ninjago city is it only gives you many many civilians and only 2 ninja in there ninja suits

I finally picked this set up on clearance. Always loved it but never bought it, then thought of a MOC, watched your review, and the rest is history! Now to go build out the scene I have in mind based on this fabulous set!

i always thought the ninjago series was a little over the top with their dragons and mechs and vehicles BUT THIS SET... Oh mannnn..... THIS SET..... IS GORGEOUS... i love the details on it and how they managed to capture the oriental design so well e.g. the roof and bridge... Just outstanding... cant wait to get my hands on it!

yeah i agree jang i was the first to get this set at my local lego store. the box was so big i could barely fit it in my car. I thought it was a great build and it's definitely worth the money

best playset i ever seen don't even need anything else, massive story creation is instant

Such a nice set, beautiful. A prize for any Ninjago collector.

I never really liked the early ninjago stuff, but since they brought it back some of the sets have been BEAUTIFULLY built. This just looks so pretty.

Man... It does look amazing! I kinda wish Lego didn't make so many great sets every year, considering I can't afford them and I don't really get to buy many sets a year and have to miss out on so many; but that's why I love your in-depth reviews!

Why did you have to specify TV show?

This set is even a musthave for peeps with interests in the castle and medival theme. some things: - I would relocate the lightbrick from the temple to the blacksmith furnace. - Those trees! I like those old trees. I definately replicate that idea.

That's a great cast of minifigures,shame you don't get any villains

+Ben ingham I think that's because it's a Collector's Item, like the Star Wars UCS sets, and not an official Ninjago set (I mean, it doesn't pertain to any Ninjago wave). Also, I guess they sacrificed the villains in favor of the exclusive show minifigures, which I would rather have.

This is perfect. I am a huge fan of ninjago, and this set is just perfect. I really like the fact that it comes with dareth, misako, the postman, and even all five ninja. If I were to get any of the collector sets, this would be the one.

I've been waiting for this review with bated breath! Its an amazing piece that I will have to have. I was openmouthed at the little light show. I didn't know that it had that. Nice touch! Really,I would love 2 so that I could expand it in some way,but that is too big a stretch on my budget. I feel it would be cool to make a kind of Epcot like world and this could represent Japan.Lots of things you could do with it really!

I'm really loving how they're going back to the more 'classic" style of Ninjago. One thing I didnt like about the second and third series is they broke apart from the Feudal Japan feel of it. I have been distant from Ninjago for some time but now, I think I'm ready to join in again. Great review man! Keep up the good work :]

this set is gorgeous I just wish there was more water parts, even so it is a fantastic looking set, hats off to the designer(s)

I've been looking forward to this one. Greatest review on the interweb as always Jang. I'm not a Ninjago fan but this a highly desirable set. Between this, the Ferarri F40, Wall-e, and the upcoming Star Wars sets you are killing me Lego!

This is definitely going to be a display set rather than a hands on playset. As an older fan, I prefer to appreciate the finer details and thoughts put into the making of this set, and it will definitely look amazing on my desk! It's a shame you didn't mention the booklet that came with it Jang, as that is one of the main USP's, I feel. Great video as always, keep it up!

This is such a beautiful set in person. I've picked up some of the other Ninjago building sets and dragons and have made a village display. I'm very happy with it and plan to pick up some of the airships...because pirates. I'm not a fan of the show but ninjas, ghosts, pirates, and awesome buildings and dragons? Yes please!

This set is so amazing. I _love_ classical Japanese architecture, and this does all of it _so spectacularly well_ and the ensemble cast of minifigures is nothing short of exactly what it needed to be. I want it, but I don't know if I could scrabble enough money together to get it...

the blacksmith shop is better then the market in my opinion just wish it was 4 weapons ;p

I have absolutely no interest in ninjago as a series, but this is far and away one of the best LEGO sets of all time. I would put it up there with the Creator modular builds, maybe better than some. It looks stunning on display and people are constantly commenting on it when they walk into my home.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I think this will make the list of all time greats. The all time must have sets. It is an Asian themed Medieval Market Village, and more. It has the core characters, but without the sillyness of the main line. It can even function as a gorgeous 'inside corner" in a Modular based town. Just breathtaking.

I am curious if any one has figured out a way to attach it to Ninjago city. This is a very cool looking set
