I think the studs aren't just for their own sake either, they're in the same spots where my own film camera has a textured leathery-looking surface
The studs make sense to me as it represents the texture seen on the actual cameras.
That’s a good camera! I personally don’t mind that the photos are stickers, but I get the desire for them to be prints. It’s cute that they’re pictures of other sets!

the most annoying thing is that they're clear stickers. Which means that things like small air bubbles or hairs are going to be so much more visible
What a delightful set. I'm glad TLG's fascination with replica sets has given us something so good at such an accessible price point.
4:11 Not only that, this is a Creator 3-in-1 set. Those colors maybe are used for the alternate models. Sometimes I do replace the colorful bricks inside a built with black or yellow, but not because I don't like it, but rather because I tend to create very colorful MOCs, and those pieces are more useful for me being visible 😂.
As a photographer and collector of vintage cameras, I must have this set. I ride motorcycles too, so the inclusion of the motorcycle negative (i have thst set too) makes it a no-brainer
This will be a must-have set for me. I was heavy into photography in high school, and had a full dark room at home. While today's digital advantages far outweigh yesterday's film processing, I think a giant chunk of the "art" has been lost from taking pictures. Thank you for sharing!!!
They definitely poured all of their creative juices into the A model and I’m not complaining. Who needs the side builds when the main is so good?
Yeah, 100% wish the shutter was a hollow stud. It's a silly detail but it would make it look like a bulb/remote shutter release port, which most cameras of the era had. Kinda wish the shutter was on the front more as well, but that's probably down to me absolutely loving my Praktica and this set reminding me of it lmao. But yeah it's an excellent set, there's only really nitpicks to be had when you're a nerd like me and have a fleet of film cameras.
Thanks for the review jang. I was waiting for this to make up my mind . Happy new year to you.
I would like to put a low profile tire on that wheel to better represent the feel of the focus dial. In my opinion.😁
I don't mind stickers at this price point, it's at the UCS or much higher price point where I don't like them. This is an excellent little set.
Wow! Thanks Jang. I had not considered this but now I think I’ll get this. As an (old) photographer this is an excellent rendition of a 60’s/70’s SLR. I would have moved the advance lever to where the shutter speed dial is, but this is nitpicking. It also needs a self-timer in the front. Yes, obviously Kodak and I love that the “film” is brown, as it was.
Another great review as always! Keep up the great work!
Amazing 3 in 1 camera awesome review jang 👍
100% getting this. At 18 pounds this is just a must have. I have an interest in photography/filmmaking so I feel like this set was made for me.
Change out the yellow pieces on the film for green and white to represent Fuji film!
I bought and built this set yesterday evening. I got it to go with the (absolutely fantastic) Polaroid SX-70 that I bought and built on January 1st. At least the price on this one is better than the Polaroid set.
Planned to get this set today, but ended up with the 31152 Astronaut instead....couldn't resist a 20% discount and 31145 Red Dragon as a free gift (while this camera set was just at RRP and under the threshold for that gift). I will stil get this camera later, as I do quite like it. It's not perfect though. Obviously the viewfinder is a bit odd, too low on the back and with a hole in the front that shouldn't be there, but I totally get why they did this. A camera like this would usually have a neck strap connected to both sides of the camera, but still no biggie, and I like how this looks. It would have been cool if the shutter speed wheel had clicks (like they did with the TV in the NES set), but that would probably be tricky at this size. And while I get why they use those weird colors, does a set with this few pieces really need those, even for kids? Especially since they are still a bit visible and seem to impact both other models a lot more. But the biggest flaw in my opinion are the stickers. Not even so much that they are stickers instead of prints, at this price point I can get over that. But it really should have been negatives. Or at least it should have had both options. Any adult knows that's how it should be, and I think for kids it would have been a fun little trivia to learn about. Oh, and how cool would it have been if they had been able to create something like a View-Master! 😎
I have not noticed this set in the long long list of new sets that just came out. Lovely!
Now that this is out, I need to look for MOCs of flash, telephoto lens, and power winder accessories so I can replicate my parent's Canon AE-1 from the 1970s!
This is a really well done camera set. It would go well with the old VIP one I have. I love the LEGO sets that represent life size objects, and this one is definitely up there.
Any camera brand stickers we could put on this to give it a finishing touch lego 📷
I understand they need studs for alternative models but the 4x4 plates at the front of the camera could have been replaced by smooth ones.
Objects in lego in a nutshell: ,,Do you like vintage devices but wish they didnt work and just collected dust? Boy do we have a deal for you,,

At least for literally the first time ever here, LEGO has made a low-res plastic replica that doesn't cost 2-4 times as much as just getting the real thing LOL
What a fantastic little build and the price is good too. Win Win from Lego.
I need this set! So cool.
Realy love this set. Not only as a Legofan but also as an photographer who collects (and uses) old cameras. 😂😂
On old Pentax digital and film bodies, there would be a button where your red button is located for exposure lock. That is, if you had a program mode, then you could point somewhere, partly depress the shutter to get an aperture/exposure setting, then press that AE-L or M-L button to lock those settings, and recompose and focus elsewhere
Why is lego so focused on really good cameras this year?

Idk if you're counting this, but last year they had a gift with purchase/vip set which was very similar, slightly simplified version of this one.
The red button could be for spot metering. I'd prefer the film rewind was another knob. The film advance lever also moves the wrong direction.
I know everyone hates stickers, but I'd much rather pat the reasonable $20 for this set, than have it be inflated to $30 just for prints

As if prints would be that expensive....well, only for Lego I guess. Still a decent set a decent price though, so I don't mind them as much as I would in some top-of-the line set. Stickers in any €500+ set are just shameless.....

I’d rather have it for $20 with prints 🤷♀️

It's sad the Lego has a lot of people thinking prints should entail a premium or higher price. Competitors use them and charge comparatively less.

Please, a print does not cost $2 by piece. If Lego would cut back just a little on its profit margin (currently 20% and more), they could easily put in prints for the same price.

What about 25 and prints? I'm not the target demographic but the only real interesting thing to me about it was the thought of them being prints 🤷♂️
Looks like an old minolta or konica camera, the film advance lever and the shutter speed knob have swapped spots. Also a lot of cameras had the shutter button in the center of the shutter speed dial. This is a really cool set and i plan to build and fix minor details
This is a definite win and very very appealing; it's not only a very affordable alternative to the Polaroid set, it's also a much more easily accessible and much better size and version of the promo Vintage Camera set. The Vintage Camera I think required 2,400 points, which equated to around £15/$15/15 Euros worth of discount off purchases, which was a lot given how much smaller it was and still required a delivery charge unless you bought other sets to go with it to negate that extra charge.
This set is fantastic, an absolute win imho. Great review!
I don't know what the red "button" thing on the back would represent, as the back release system is generally done by pulling up the rewind crank, and it's VERY much something YOU DO NOT WANT TO TRIGGER by accident. That spot would make it quite easy to end up triggering it unintentionally. Some cameras even have an extra step to that, like my Nikon FM and F3, where you have to slightly rotate a safety catch around the rewind crank before you can pull up the rewind crank. The film winding release catch is usually a button, but it's generally on the bottom plate.
This was 12 dollars at my local store!! Normally!!! I was so shocked
Even though there are stickers, at least they’re the clearer ones. This set has way, way better value than the Polaroid set.
I love this set but the only thing i dont like is that the door if you close it it get placed on the red stud and opening it can snap off the handle So i recommend replacing it with a spare piece of a flat tile so you can open it very easy
I have seen identical camera as this set for sale in a thrift shop.
as a photographer this is set is a masterpiece
As a photograph, this is a given buy!
When you said "bad news" I thought you were going to make an exposed film joke but no, stickers. Still love the refs to other creator sets.
Other than the Fender logo, I think the camera strap is the same as the Ideas Guitar set strap piece
I like it even more than Polaroid set.
Awesome set Lego should make a similar set but a modern camera instead, maybe a slr camera
Great price and set 🎉🎉
As I remember it from the old film rolls we have at our house, shouldn't they be more reddish~brown~purple hued? And only clearly visible when held against a light source. Missed opportunity in my opinion to include this as an accurate gimmick, similar to the good old days of Lego "X-Ray" sets where pieces had symbols that were made visible by overlaying them with red or blue window panes.

Disagree. Much more important to have nice clean readable colors than a more 'realistic' tinted brown.
Man, the memories.
Very interesting set Nicely done Pretty realistic look 🙂 📸 👍
This is the type of Lego I've really gotten to love in recent years. I love these real life objects made into Lego. Doubly so when they're life sized. It's just so nice to have sitting on a shelf or placed on the coffee table.
how does it compare to the GWP camera that came out about a year ago? If there is enough difference I might get this along with the polaroid
The pictures are a Easter egg to the other creator sets .
It's nice, I just fear the current Creator retro-line is meant to be toys for adults =/
At £18 this is a must buy for me. It looks great
This is rad lol
so bump mine did not had the stickers and i checked everywhere
Clear backed stickers are cruel and unusual punishment
Kinda disappointed the positives are stickers :(
So for $80 I can get 4 of these or one Polaroid? The Polaroid tax is $30-$40?
Not for me, but at this price its still amazing partpack
Sad that those are stickers
Nice
£18? Sold!
stickers? BAD. Just 20 bucks? Good.
hi
TheJang , take my picture!
For whoever thinks the colors are bothersome, they can try their hand at any COBI tank or plane or ship where you get a giant pile of nearly identical colors rangin from a 1x1 tile or stud to plates and bricks. And each build step has you adding a ton of stuff at a time too :)))
B ans C model look so poor I don't think a second vid is needed
It's so lame that it's stickers
Never heard the announcement for this set, my first impression was boy is that ugly and who is the market?
