LEGO City Update - TMNT Turtle Sewer Lair MOC 🐢🏹

After my last haul I finally had all the pieces I needed to complete my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle secret sewer lair. I couldn't wait so this leapt straight to the front of my build queue. Inside are all the Turtles, some interesting panel pieces, lots of pipes, Power Functions lighting and, of course, pizza!

    My only suggestion is to make it wider, instead of so deep. Seems to have quite a bit of stud distance still on left and right... make the curve edges all the way on the left and right. So it's more like an old school video game with a long left to right scene. You can then bring the back panels forward more to be seen ( like maybe depth is only 6-8 studs). You can have 2 eating at the trash can, a scene with Leo and the weapons, Donny at his work bench. And at the end right side above them a manhole (with the cover slightly off bringing in a bunch of light. You could use the sweet yellow "pipe" in the center at a sort of beam holding it up. You could even have it go almost all the way to the right, but put the subway entrance there and use the "closed entrance" panel separating the lair from the entrance (maybe that's another way they get above ground)

    This is a great idea from start to finish. I think it would be great but it does represent a complete redo. Hmm. I'm gonna give it some more thought. I kinda have a rule of not going back to redo things, so I can maintain forward progress, but I do like this plan. I may have to revisit it in a few months when people's appetite for TMNT has regrown. I've pinned this comment so it is easy to find again when I need it!

    With all the badies you have in town it's great that you have aided Batman and Homes with some Turtle. I like the idea of adding the subway next to their hideout would be great as it would give them more ways to get around the city unseen. Like Mrs. Hood, I feel Doni would feel taping into the incoming power of the wind would be a "green" way to get all the power he needs to build the gear they use to save the city. A fantastic way to use all the space you have and make a great story for your Brick Nottingham. As always thank you for sharing your great ideas and time with us. Keep up the amazing videos.

It is amazing seeing you start from the very beginning to where you are now and I can't wait to see the rest of your plans for your Lego room come to fruition. Loving all the attention to detail, especially the varying heights and has got me excited to start planning a Lego room of my own! about that subawy entrance: if you move that small plate at dockside to monorail side you can put the subway stairs there. so when you walk out the monorail you could go left to the park or right to the subway. so youll have a hub and the stop is farther. the turtles can go after dark in the park... o and we need a pizza seller somewhere there ... maby for the car of the day the pizza van. have fun building

    What an interesting and creative idea!! Loved Turtles back in the day (80's /90's era haha) so this is a great little easter egg! Not to be nit-picky but I would have used Michelangelo holding the Pizzas as he was always the one that seemed most into it and his face seems smiling and eager! If I recall from the 1990(?) movie, he and Donatello were the ones who went out to get that Domino's delivery too. Lol The lighting just tops this off too. Great job Robin! :)

    It's a good shout but it's covered by a 32x32 baseplate as it is and two thirds of it is on a table, so I'd need a load of plates and baseplates to make that work and it also needs strength between two tables. The idea is great though. I was going to do the same over part of my subway line but sadly there is no available location unless I cut a hole!

    As always great idea and execution! May I suggest forcing the perspective by bringing the back chairs closer to one another by 1 or half stud? That way you can see the turtles in the back a bit better when they are all sitting and enjoying pizza:) Anyway AWESOME work! Cheers!!

    It'd have to be the front chairs that are moved as the back two are on turntables already so would have to be raised. It's easier to see in real life as you can move your head!

    Hi Robin, just hilarious! Throws me straight back to... "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles..." I love it! And lighting te smal outcuts like that is just common sense. I mean, this way you can go deeper in the smal dark area's and still see everything. Just don't think of it as 'lighting', but more like putting the scene in a spotlight. On an other subject: we all know you have loads of bricks under the different city levels but have you ever considered Duplo bricks? They are high and wide, sturdy and a lot cheaper then the huge amount of Lego bricks needed + it is official Lego. They are also compatible with Lego bricks (one stud Duplo is a 2 by 2 Lego brick and I think they are 2 bricks high, or was it 3? Don't remember that one exactly). It is also not an illegal building technique when you combine them: In the early '80s we had a Lego idea book with several builds that combined the 2.

  • @RobinHoodBricks

    @RobinHoodBricks

    4 жыл бұрын

    I have found Duplo really hard to get hold of for a good price. That's why I've used big LEGO bricks in odd colours for a few pennies each, and then wood. Thanks for the kind words!

    Wonderful job! I’ve started to add lighting too. It can be quite expensive but I find some of the kits to be way too bright unless your mini figs are doing surgery. I find that having 1 or 2 lights in each room of a modular for example is enough to add the warmth and charm that lighting provides. Just a little added so much to this build of yours. One caution regarding modulars is that lighting makes the ability to separate floors, let’s say cumbersome, to be kind about it. I will not be lighting lamps on the exterior of buildings etc. Also, I don’t want to have to be replacing batteries so have gone with USB based systems.

    Cowabunga!! Thank you for making this video I really love the turtle lair! Great design Robin, it looks simple as far as pieces go and it probably didn't cost a whole lot to put in but I'm sure it was a pain pulling all the current parts out and putting it in but it was totally worth it! It adds more depth to your city. Great idea by your wife! The turtles would do such a thing as get power from a source like the wind turbine or city power. I like the lighting you added it definitely helps it out. The water pipe detail is a great idea and the panels with the stickers enhance it. I like the panel with the window piece and irradescant sticker alot. Adding a subway entrance by the turtles lair is also a great idea, gives the illusion of how they get to the surface, besides manhole covers of course. Hopefully you can tolerate the motor noise from the wind turbine. That would annoy me after a while. Are you having any turtle's baddies or is Dr. Inferno and his crew going to fight the turtles? I could see the shredder teaming up with him and causing lots of havoc in the city. It would be cool to put a cubby under the table, still having it off the floor of course and do a cave scene with bricks and make your own technodrome.. of course doing the cave itself would take lots of pieces. Awesome video as always! 👍👍
