After what seemed like 5 decades LEGO has finally made a "police station" set that isn't a police station and it's unironically great despite it's flaws and the usual price issue. I suppose with LEGO City having 200 police stations and a sky high crime rate that makes Detroit look civilized in comparison, a single training academy is more than sufficient enough to keep them all staffed with properly trained officers.
This looks like one of the most pure fun play sets Lego have done in ages!

Agreed, its a really good play set
A LEGO Wipe-Out set was not what I expected this year, seems interesting!
A fun police line reminding of the Police Academy series.

Even some of the figs resemble the cast
1:48 Congratulations Rookie! You just passed the recruitment test! And the time you posted means you're getting promoted to Commissioner !!
It absolutely look looks a bunch of super fun play features. I can just imagine enjoying this as a kid. It’s interesting seeing them perhaps making an intentional shift in the form of no-conflict police sets, as you said. For some folks that will probably feel more family friendly, but of course there’s probably more to think about in that regard.

There is also the police dog training set. And the bike polybag. The training situations look great.
It's refreshing to see a set with so much play included. Sometimes it seems like Lego forgets about play.
0:45 It's not to bad. I mean it has some nice little beams there to break your fall... and your back. Although maybe they could have added some bushes for minifigs to aim for. (🎵There goes my hero...🎵)
I was born in 78, I loved old lego sets, Lego space, the old grey castle, the old fire fighters... they were great toys. But I love toys because of what they are, independently from nostalgia and for that reason, I am glad to hear someone (Jang of course) say out lout that new sets are often better in design that what we had back then.
I've never been really interested on police and fire buildings under the City collection, I always go after the vehicle-related ones only - I couldn't believe when they both made it to Modulars. But this building caught my attention, as it has a lot of action and original interiors. Sure this will be added to my city.
Cool set! It's got unique pieces, and plenty of minifigs. Now i'd like to see training sets for other professions too, like fireman, astronaut, fisherman. Sound's fun.

We had traning sets for astonauts!
This is one of the best Lego city sets, with awesome details, amazing playability, and great minifigures. The modularity makes it even better
I really like the new parts in here! The modular plates compatible with road plates, and the BIG SCREW!

The plates (but with less studs) appeared in most 4+ sets. I love them!
I find it amusing that JANG explained a tiered training approach for the equestrian side-build.
I like how this is a training facility and course, changes it up from the usual garden variety police station. There's even a police horse! Those two high plates are different but useful! I love that Archimedes screw! I love the illusion that the screw pieces are moving back in forth instead of just rotating.
Lego has more enclosed buildings now than ever before. Facades have their place, this being one of them
The screw peaces are designed very well! They’re perfectly 5 blocks tall, and the attachment block is exactly 2 & 2/3s blocks on all sides (2 studs). Very nice math!
Ouch 100$ ?!? I don't see it...

Same. First glance i would've said 40 bucks, maybe 50 because of the mini figures and somewhat specialized pieces. Dunno how the price-per-piece is yet but the amount as-built... das a yikes from me.

Really? Judging by the overall side and the larger plates and panel pieces it makes sense, plus all the mini figs and play features
Thanks for the great review 😊 I really love the context of this playset and also think it offers great parts for modification and Mocs.
Really nice to see them focusing on Police training in both this set and the dog training set. I like that almost all the rooms are activity based, just the one office that could maybe be better.
I don't really understand the complaint that the buildings aren't closed up: it's Lego, modifying it is the whole point. It should have good pieces and ideas that you can build on.
Got the set at heavy discount from Amazon. Costed me 50 euros. Practically a steal at that price. I wonder if I would pay at the 10cent mark for this. And honestly I wouldn't. Also the modularity is nice but it is pointless for this set with rather unique and incompatible parts. The course cannot be changed due to the nature of the set and the lower floor cannot be moved up since it is on the green "ground" level. I suspect it would be very handy for houses or perhaps the upcoming appartement set. If they for instance sold a regular street house with descent modularity and different house numbers they could sell the same set +3 extra small tiles with numbers and have you buy it multiple times. You could rearrange the house and have a street of similar but different houses. Sell that same set multiple times. The same for an appartement block. Make it modular. You can have different color apartments rearranged and make multiple appartement buildings. Heck you could even sell additional floors! Just for that appartment block. And turn it into a bigger building.
Loving the new uploads, consistent and enjoyable!
Great review and whilst it seems a cool set, I'd struggle to justify buying it with even a 30% discount as it seems a lot of money for what it is. I definitely think there's a premium attached to the novelty and uniqueness of the set as I've heard a lot of people talking about it and referring to it as the ninja warrior set. However the price is pretty much the same as the bank heist / fire brigade / hospital sets in the city line. All of which I think offer much better value as I don't see my kids playing with this for more than a few hours when it's built. I can't fault the designers and lego for trying something new. Had it been designed and marketed as a treetop adventure course then i think it would have been a better offering
Didn’t sets use to have only two studs deep for interiors? LEGO has always been about facades, or creating the face of a building that you should complete with your own parts. They encourage creativity and innovation. Expert/Icons is intended for “realism”, with closed off corners, actual stairs or ladders to second and third levels, etc. Using “realism” loosely, because in scale, everything is always too small or something has to be cut out entirely just to keep things compact and within proportions. That’s why restrooms are often tiny or lack a bath/shower.
This looks like a really cool set!
I think this is a very novel play set for the city police line, something new and unique with some nice figures.
I'm so used to oldschool mega bloks pieces being "vibrant yellow" colored so everytime I see lego pieces in that color it throws me off 😂 still a nice new color though.
I like the modularity. It makes sense to start with 8x8 and 8x16 for a beginner builder. Then you can move to the bigger 16x32 and 32x32.
Really well designed, just feels expensive
Awesome looking set. Good job LEGO! Thanks for the wonderful review :)
2x8x16s are interesting because they are quite reminiscent of those old super size bricks they retired a while back. It’s a good modernization of the concept
Go8ng to buy this and the police station to make an ultimate station
1:30 Got absolutely yeeted
All I can think of is a lego version of police academy 🤣
The police funhouse. Nice.
Great (!) Now I've got the theme stuck in my head.
This is cool!
Fire brigade training academy?

Disney Princess training academy?
Only thing missing is Hightower, Malone, Mahony and kpt. Lasard. 😁😁😁
VERY solid set, especialy if you can get ot -30% off! Love exclusive fig parts!
I find this set pretty cool, looks fun
Been waiting for your review of this with how you do Close-Up shots. Thanks to that I now know that the new corkscrew IS in fact 3 pieces and not just 1 piece. Meaning that you can adjust how long you want it to be, or in my case, how TALL you want to take your ELEVATOR up to the next floor! Just trying to figure out how to get the elevator to stop at certain floors while using a power'd up source of power to make the elevator automatic. I was thinking of looking into the old rail system use in the airport shuttle or space sets where it knows how to auto stop, but having that on some type of hinge so that you select which floor you want it to stop on, then press the green button to make it go. Just like how you selec your floor in a real elevator but it's for us big figs to select! What do you think of my idea JANG?
this is better than the police station recently
That’s a long string with studs
As A criminologist I like the police academy. The idea isn’t that bad. Ok, there is potential for improvement. But, hey it’s lego. Keep up the good work.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a lego Harry Potter character head on a police minifigure
There should have been one fig with the tall Avatar body....Hightower! Fun set with great play features, even when a bit pricey.
You can rebuild it as a “ninja warrior” arena
Wish the horse and horse course were something else.
I wonder if three of these figures are meant to be a reference to brooklyn nine-nine. Specifically Rosa, Jake and Terry
I like it. It something new and it's well executed.
This would've been top of my list as a kid. I could've played with this for hours!
I got this and it is just awesome set.
Hey, I'm seeing a Bearguy S2
Is that a Battletech Atlas mech I see in the background?! What kind of model is it?
this is how they should have done lego mario
those new pieces are pretty cool, at $80 this will be a no brianer to pick up
Were are Jones, Hicks, Tackleberry and Callahan?
So which one's tackleberry and which one's mahoney?
There would be more volume of stuff if it was a $100 barber academy
Did anyone else have trouble with the spinning rod. It spins but it doesn’t push the block piece. I’ve set it up perfectly and everything
Are the trainee helmets new? I don’t recognize them.
@andhe

No, they've been used for a while. Previously on the pilots so you can fit the breathing mask.
@Gameprojordan

Don't think so. Pretty sure it's just a recolor of the generic "aircraft pilot" helmet without chinstrap, that has been used commonly in lego city sets for the past few years, most notably fire fighter helicopter sets. The color seems to be new though

I think it was used on a CMF hockey player a few years ago. Not sure where else it might've been used.

Isn't it 93560 used for over a decade? But I never noticed it either.
So, it's Police Academy 8? ;)
This is a cool place lots of great Play features for kids but $100 US seems a bit steep
MAHONEEEEEEY!!!
Are you sure this isn't wipe out?
how much?!
Fun play set but holy crap the price is just insanity.
I rather have the $70 three in one set with each type of rescue vehicle. This seems to be missing something. Needs another vehicle at the very least and I never thought I'd say that for a LEGO City set. 😄
I love this set both in concept and as a final product, it looks super fun and visually also. But on the other hand, i hope they will not step away from the good ol' police vs criminals thing! In my opinion it's much more fun when there is conflict, a chase, an escape, a treasure to retrieve
Lezz goo Lego supporting the Police industrial complex. 👮🤡 This would have been a way cooler set as a fire training academy. Some of the stuff looks straight up goofy.
Not the best police set made
