Legion Y730 Review - Lenovo Nailed It

Ғылым және технология

My review of the Lenovo Legion Y730. A well priced gaming laptop with great build quality.
Available Here - amzn.to/2zmawuj
With an i7-8750H and up to a GTX 1050 Ti. The Legion Y730 from Lenovo has strong performance and has a thin bezeled screen. It is very well built for the price and has some of the best RGB laptop lighting in the industry.
Background Music: Fili - H2O

i got the aero 15x, and i know its in a whole different price range from this, but its so convenient in every way possible. the number pad, though not needed ( i had no care about it at first) is impressively handy. the battery is just below the legal max which means a real world 6+ hours, 8 if you keep brightness down and keyboard light off. the 1070MQ runs cool and quiet and its weird how fast the whole system is. also youd think the only difference between the 15 and 15x would be 1060 to 1070, but they also switch the storage from sata to pcie (decent toshiba drive in mine) i personally enjoy not needing to be around a plug

"Slightly expensive" Lol Apple has phone at 1500 dollars and this is 1100. And the only advantage an apple phone has over this is portability. Honestly 1000 dollar market being proliferated with phones makes little sense, as laptops at that price point are infinitely better, can be used as work stations too, and just..... It amazes me that 1000 dollars can be spent on both a mobile and a powerful laptop. Kinda trippy if you ask me.

because free market supply and demand. when people are finally satisfied, and stop buying these phones, the companies will figure out ways to make cheaper ones. duh. otherwise we can keep zooming out and complaining about how absurd everything is. "1100 dollars for a mid-tier laptop just for games? that's absurd! why not just build your own mid-tier PC for 800?" "800$ for a PC that'll be outdated in a year? that's absurd! why not just spend 400$ for a game console?" and on and on it goes.

@@aghadmtl man, I just pointed out that phones are becoming ridiculously expensive while laptops are becoming cheaper. Considering that most people would prefer mobiles over laptops, that's kinda trippy that an adrenos 630 is considered of the same price point as a 1050 TI. Considering OnePlus 6 offers the same at half the price, and Pocophone at 300 bucks, it's stupid that 1000 dollar phones even exist. I mean, any laptop except MacBook gets destroyed if a cheaper (significantly) version of that laptop is available. In that context, it's weird to see that 1000 dollar phones are proliferating. Money means that 1000$=1000$ and any thing of 1000$ should have the same value. Is portability and a camera worth 500 dollars then? That's what I meant by that this isn't expensive.

You can turn off the lighting manually using FN+ Spacebar. Also there is a battery mode within the built in Lenovo software called dynamic which turns off the gpu when not in use to save power. Additionally, turning the screen brightness down, undervolting the cpu, and turning on quiet mode, you can extend the battery life to around 4-5 hours on the 17" model.

J Fry As someone who DESPERATELY wants a 17” desktop replacement that *doesn’t* look like a pile of trash, I agree with you. The P72 looks like it’s going to be a boss. The only problem is you’re last sentence is borderline false. Yeah, you CAN game on them, but you’d be paying hundreds more than you would for similar performance on a normal gaming laptop. Why? Because these machines use quadros. Even the top of the line P72 uses the quad to equivalent to the 1070, but cost around $4000. This will look (to gamers, anyway) EXACTLY like what Apple does: charge thousands more for similar performance to cheaper machines, just because it looks better.

I used this laptop for a week for 4K video editing. I'm disappointed how it works. Terribly slow file handling in Premiere. I honestly never used this bad laptop for video editing. Perhaps he's a gaming laptop, but his predecessor was with much better performance for editing probably because of the GTX 1060. Also, it's abnormal loud ventriculators, I have not seen it before. All in all, I'm disappointed, I wanted to buy it because it looks nice, it's finally a normal design. However, it is not for serious work in Premiere with 4K files. Sadly :-(
