    I don't know.....I just don' think amps like that need the extra mods. An amp more like a plexi, or a Dirty Shirley.....a more classic style amp may benefit more from that product, if they're looking to push a classic amp into another gain stage. But, there comes a point (and this is an absolute epidemic right now...Friedman talks about it a lot)....that SO much gain is used that the tone loses articulation. Would like to see how this sounds on a comparably, lower-gain, amp. Great video non-the-less....very cool product.

  • @EugeValovirta230V

    @EugeValovirta230V

    800 2203 is quite low gain amp and that’s why the whole idea of adding another gain stage. My 1987x Plexi cranked has actually a bit more gain than my 800s 😎. But I agree with you about the gain thing. I hit the guitar pretty hard and crank the master volume and about 99% of all people who’ve tried my rigs are surprised that there isn’t more gain. ’Cos you know how it is; play like a lion and it’ll roar, play like lamb and…well 😎.

  • @LegendaryTones

    @LegendaryTones

    Totally understand your thoughts here. With the design of the Hot Mod V2 Evo, it was very important that it had the option of adding gain while retaining clarity and NOT over-compressing. The Gain switch in the down position does just that. But then the option to go “up” on the switch gets you loads of compression for those who want. The Lynch Mod obviously has more fine-tuning capability.

    Great playing!! That Bad Boy sounds amazing. the best. Your stock JCM800 don’t sound stock to me. Am I missing something? They both have a ton more gain than my stock JCM800 from ‘86. - 1970 Les Paul Custom - EMG pickups - SD-1

    Thanks! It’s basically stock: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iYqirtOsgcysddI.html All older Marshalls (800s especially) are different; some have more gain, some less, some are more aggressive etc.

    Cranking the master is the thing to get that huge power amp od mojo 💪. It’ll be insanely loud but hey; there’s small lunch box amps for small venues & bedrooms 😎.

    I’ve only worked with ProTools, Logic and Cubase and I like Cubase the most for many reasons. One of the most important is that it’s the most logical to me. I mean all the Pro level DAWs are really good and it’s just a matter of personal preferences.

    No, majority of Laney’s don’t use cathode follower tone stacks which is what the mod needs to see and attach to.

    I've been playing hair guitar since 1985. I was 15. Been playing a long time. Not into the drop tunings. Probably because of when I started playing. Hair Metal, Ratt, Dokken, Quiet Riot, etc were just coming out. Standard and half step down was as far as it went, and I'm very stuck in the 80s. Not always a good thing. You're a killer player. Don't see the killer player anymore. Music sucks compared to the Golden Era of Marshall Stacks, 9 piece minimum double bass Tama drums, and Floyd Rose trems. Keep rockn. Will be watching.
