In Nakai's defense. At very low levels, Nakai is an absolute beast in melee, and holds his faction down in a way that Lizardmen besides Gor-Rok and his papa toad don't get to enjoy. Nakai can absolutely shred low tier armies, spears or otherwise, and go toe to toe with the higher tier units of other legendary lords, or the lords themselves. This is especially important in his own campaign, where he's basically the easy out to Rakarth's nasties. It doesn't last, and using Nakai in that way implies either managing to recruit him hella early (meaning Vortex Gor-Rok... who doesn't need the help, or MAYBE Vortex Teheneuin, if you prioritize confederation) or playing his faction, but, in that tiny niche, I'd say he has a top shelf performance.

Its mostly his campaign just being so damn awful.

Nakai would’ve made for an amazing Legendary Hero. A full-on bruiser of a character that just shows up to places and wrecks shit while boosting Kroxigors. Even lore-wise it didn’t really make much sense to have him lead armies. It’s kind of a shame they gave him the LL treatment. They could’ve paired him with another Lizardmen character like Tetto’eko or Lord Huinitenuchli as the Lord for the Hunter & the Beast DLC. Have him be the Ghoritch to the actual lord’s Throt and let him do his business kicking ass.

Legendary Heroes really should have been the Lizardmen hat. It makes sense, most Lizardmen, big name or not, take orders from Slann, which makes more sense in this game, where you only get one Lord, so can't have a Legendary Lord and one. I've always dreaded the day when Chakax gets added as a Lord.

It's nice to have a Lizardmen Legendary Lord of each type of Lizardmen, it would be missing otherwise. But, yeah, clearly they should have done him better. Actually, Oxyotl's mechanics of teleporting to do missions all over the world would have been very good for Nakai and made a lot of sense. Perhaps even more than being a horde faction.

I hold that Tretch should have gotten a similar treatment. I remember Tarriff made a video pointing out that Tretch is technically below warlords in rank. Queek's a legendary warlord, but Tretch is a legendary chieftain. And since in Mortal Empires they have to give Clan Rictus two factions to make up for this, maybe just have Tretch get "loaned out" for a limited amount of time to other factions, or have there be a mission where you have to go find him or something.

Isabella gives vampire capacity, agent action cost reduction -33%, and 2 corruption for her global bonuses. She also has one that reduces cooldown on blood lust/red fury.

+2 corruption per region btw and eliminates the need for rushing Strigoi at all until super late game. And Braziers are even worse as a build option. Vlad is probably still better because his +40 reputation buff stalls the Empire long enough for you to conquer them piecemeal with his army buffs and global exp but you want both pooling skill points for the level 12 stuff.

Vampire capacity isn't as important for Vampire Counts, I believe all lords have the blue tree skill to get increased capacity? So it hardly feels like a global buff.

Isabella is most useful as a punching bag for lord buffs

All the Bret lords technically have global bonuses. Louen gives improved relationship with everyone and cheaper Baracks. The Fay Enchantress gives cheaper chapels, damsel recruitment buffs, and give 10% ward save to all your casters.

Repanse also has the skill which gives 5% physical resistance to all peasant units factionwide even tho it doesn’t specify as factionwide. If you don’t believe me, just load in a repanse campaign and check the physical resistance of your garrisons and it should say 5%.

I feel like vampire Coast and tomb kings being ranked with their faction mechanics should be fine, its not like you can play them outside their own faction anyway.

thing is, that's kinda unfair to the other factions. It's a negative not being able to confed, but with your system that would be a positive, because it'd add loads of faction mechanics to the lord mechanics.

Wulfrik no longer provides that bonus to mammoths. They took that away when they reworked him. He boosts skinwolves now. The mammoth bonus on World Walkers is still there, but not on Wulfrik.

Exactly. Also If Wulfrik is 10/10, then Karl Franz should be too. They do basically the same thing: They boost mid-game units and provide global public order. Legend is not rating consitently or fairly.

@@Bubbl3Bubbl3gum His ratings are terrible. You can't say "Here's a rating list" then throw in one hundred conditions of why you rate them so and not even follow your own warped rating logic. Look at the very onset of the video: he puts Teclis, easily the most powerful High Elf LL (and perhaps the game) into A-Tier, then throws all the other HE lords into S-Tier, thus forcing himself to immediately defend why he put Teclis in A-Tier for the rest of the video. OBVIOUSLY Teclis is S-Tier. Legend also forgets what 25% of the lords actually do for their armies, and mixes up or is flat wrong with certain lord abilities like Wulrik. Why? Because he is lazy as hell, wings all of his material, and spends no time doing analysis or research. This is like a professional employee presenting at their job (which this for him) without doing any preparation work beforehand. I'd give this entire rating video a 4/10, F-Tier.

@@SlickMajesticNo, not quite. You have to understand how Legend intends to rate Lord's. There are 3 categories which go from 1-10 each, 5 being average, basically like a generic lord. Those categories are: strength on the battlefield, bonuses to their army and bonuses to the faction. Teclid would be like this: 10 for fighting, 5 for army and maybe 7 for faction, because he boosts recruitment of mages. That makes 22/3 ~ 7. So Teclis is B tier. You can now go ahead and do this for all LL. Most of them are not S or A tier, but B tier. And certainly none of them are D tier, because for that they would have to maluses. The exception here is Queen and Sigvald, because they provide negatives to their faction. But even then they are higher than 2 on averabäge, just because they would have to get a 10 in fighting and at least 5 in commanding, which, even with a 1 in faction bonuses, would leave them with a 5. Through can't be D tier. He is a super strong fighter and gives recruitment bonuses to Balefiends as well as makes trolls and Frostwyrms extremely powerful

@@Bubbl3Bubbl3gum Wulfrik still scores more than Karl Franz because Wulfrik's Sword of Torgald is such a necessary tool for the faction. Norsca has serious public order problems due to requiring corruption in outposts and only having 6 slot cities at home, and the rework where you get a positive or negative to drag you to the middle didn't apply to them. That +5 Public Order is the difference between a kick in the balls with a steel toecapped boot and a kick in the balls with a fluffy slipper. (Playing Norsca is never not a kick in the balls). I don't think Wulfrik is a 10/10 lord any more, because he's lost that extra +15 MA to mammoths which means he really doesn't do much as a commander any more because he doesn't buff good units you'll actually use in a useful way. Also Karl Franz' unit buffs are kinda bad. He provides armour and leadership to units which are already getting diminishing returns from more of those things, and doesn't provide the bonuses they would need (melee attack for greatswords, speed for reiksguard). That's sadly a common piece old character design. Grimgor is hit with it as well, Black Orcs don't need another 10 armour and leadership, they've got loads of both.

Lets be honest, this was the list we were all waiting for.

Item tier list

In my experience, when Archaon is in his final form ( all quest items, level up super quick etc) He can solo almost every battle if he wanted to. He does not need to buff any units or his faction. He is the grand marshal of the apocolypse himself.

What you need to remember is that a VCounts LL's combat prowess should also be considered to boost their army, because with the VCounts the lord pretty much IS the army.

Only if you ignore 95% of their army roster like Legend does. Which is fair and it works, if you actually enjoy it, good for you, just... unfun as a concept.

I love how the first two legendary lords I played when I got the game were Nakai and Tretch, who I still play consistently, but with mods.

Manny gives +30 Winds of Magic and 10% extra movement to all characters for faction bonuses. I don't think he does anything special for his army, unless you like Grave Guard and Black Knights, so A is probably fair for him.

You can actually lowkey doomstack with Arkhan by just giving him 2 or 3 tomb princes with some mortuary cult items on them. Arkhan will buff their already great stats, and they will have regen, ward save, and physical resistance from the items. If you keep them all close together, Arkhan can also heal all of them at the same time with reanimate, and each tomb prince will give extra physical resistance to each other as well as to Arkhan, putting everyone at > 45% physical resistance in addition to obscene melee defense and armor. Proceed to nuke shit with Arkhan´s Black Sun and see thousands perish around your 3 or 4 heroes who are absolutely impossible to kill. Also it helps that a tomb prince can take on basically any large unit and face-fuck it to death due to their huge anti-large bonus. Which is super helpful, since large units are really all that threatens this kind of army. The synergy is truly amazing with this doomstack. Oh, and I should specify, all of them should be on foot and the TPs should have the infantry master trait. While TPs are technically a lot stronger on a chariot, they are a lot stronger against infantry, which you really don´t need when you can nuke thousands of those with spells. Being smaller and having much better melee stats overall is far more useful in this case than the extra infantry-killing power.

Just wanted to say Cylostra can also summon cursed bretonnian Knights and they are actually a decent unit (if you put some Skillpoints into them) not only for flanking.

Throgg doesn't feel like king of the trolls in warhammer 2, if at all possible I think he should be able to recruit all species of troll like wurzag and savage orcs.

Funny thing is Grom actually doesn't have that great of mass for a chariot lord. He's tied with Noble on Ithilmar chariots and is beat by characters on Razorgor Chariots, Scourgerunners, Black Coaches, and Settra's Chariot of the Gods

I think that for races which can't confederate, their legendary lords' ranking should also take into account their faction bonuses, since the legendary lord is tied to the faction and vice versa.

To be honest, I think even in the case of confederation, the faction tier list is way more useful than a legendary lord tier list. I'm just glad that Legend got around to doing them. I remember occasionally in the past suffering decision paralysis as to which faction to play, and then I'd look at Legend's Legendary Lord tier list and feeling like it often didn't help too much in making that decision except when he'd make the occasional offhand comment about their faction they are belonging to being strong or weak

seems to me like Grombrindal shout be S-Tier. He makes every dwarf army 15% more effecitve with the movement bonus. He's very good in melee and almost impossible to kill when properly leveled up and with a few good traits. Also he buffs artillery and Iron drakes by a lot. The extra speed is useful and the 10 melee defence when attacked makes the army stronger when they are most vulnerable. You can even make a slayer or ranger army work because they have more than 50 speed, which is kind of crazy for infantry

@@JWSoul you should never go yellow line over red line on any dwarf lord (except runelords I guess, but they aren't your best option anyway). Your lords do not win the battle for you. They tank long enough for your missile units win the battle. There's no reason to go yellow line so they can tank longer when you could go red line and make them not need to tank longer.

Yeah my book he’s S teir along with thorgrim. Can’t judge dawi the same as other races with magic. Thorgrim boosts hammers out of the world, and long beards. Reduces upkeep for them by about 50% can get hammers up to 85% physical damage reductions. On top of hammers buffs. If that’s not enough he has increased settlement buffs like 50+ growth up to per turn. On top of the Dino’s shit tons of public order he gets faction wide was like +10 just from thorgrim LEGENDARY ITEMS. And skills. Not including army upkeep reduction. Think he gets like around 20-25% with all items and skills. And that’s just what I remember.

What I like most about Grombrindal is thar he doesn't get a lot of skill on top. Instead his blue skill line consists of global bonuses which means you not only get those skills you would get anyway but you ALSO boost your faction with them. He is a powerful fighter, he has 4 items, and he has some pretty good unique skills. I just wish his quests weren't such garbage...

I know he gets allot of hate but not everyone hates his campaign. I love the challenge of it. It's one of the most balanced and difficult campaigns on vh/h. I honestly find his campaign the best out of all lizard men. Admit it's pretty bad on legendary though.

Sometimes you just have to accept a campaign design was a mistake and let it go, it would basically require a full new campaign to make it work.

I have just noticed in my Tyrion playthrough that wherever Alarielle passes the colony gets a nice boost for 10 turns. Amazing

@KIDAS Grombrindal boosts his entire army's speed and AP by a lot as well as a significant boost to Irondrakes which are a powerful Doomstack worthy late game unit. He may not be as tanky as Belegar but he is still a beast in combat (with better maneuverability, damage output and dueling capabilities) and far surpasses Belegar in terms of faction-wide buffs which are much more important than personal combat prowess.

@@Yotamb9 personally when it comes to battle my role for grombrindal is disabler, flash grenade, tormentor sword, helm of discord. All while ranged units turn the enemy to mincemeat. He IS great in melee but preventing the opponent from entering melee for almost a minute is pretty good too.

One thing he didn't mention about alarielle is the insane boost she gives to regions when she passes through them - growth, control, untainted, +winds of magic. That alone is a huge bonus for her that makes her amazing, especially early game (or whenever you're expanding into unfriendly territory)

You forgot one of the High Elf legendary lords: Alastar the White Lion. If you included Gotrek then I think you should include Alastar, even if only to see him bring down the high elf's average score.

There are at present 3 quasi LLs and one semi quasi lord. Alistair the white lion, Boris Todbringer and the Red Duke. Each unique in their own way. There is also Kazador dragonslayer with his unique trait.

Kemmler S tier : he boosts his army by a ton (hex and cairn wraith with regen, passive ability and weapon strenght) best spellcaster for the lore of vampire and he allows global recruitement from everywhere for the whight kings which come kinda late in the vampire roaster considering their building is not a priority.

Kemmler deserves S tier solely for the sheer power he brings with Wind of Death. -45% cooldown and 15 WoM cost, upgraded, he can end most battles before they ever begin. Atop that, he's a weak fighter in himself, but provides a fantastic buff with his sward, can summon zombies at effectively no cooldown, and has a permanent anti-large summon that, combined with his zombie summon, will win 90% of duels. Kemmler does not lose battles unless the odds are impossibly stacked against him. The Hex / Cairn wraith buff is ridiculous too. They're kind of redundant, given that Kemmler works 100% with generic skelegton spam, but if you're actually deciding to utilise those buffs; they're unbeatable aside from strict hard-counters, which are in short supply (Sisters of Avelorn, Dryads, and ... ???) Kemmler doesn't bring a global benefit quite like Vlad does, well and true, but Kemmler does what the Vampire Counts are best at, far and above even Mannfred's paygrade. I'd consider him S+++ tier solely because of that fact that he takes the factions strengths and amplifies them to an absurd degree. The only reason he's not Malagor tier is because he, whilst broken in his own faction, he isn't so broken as to give winds of magic reduction to every spellcaster. Kemmler's a sleeper 10/10 lord.

How are you guys not getting this, faction bonuses aren’t taken into consideration for these tier lists, and if they dont provide global bonuses (outside of their faction) or provides meh global bonuses, they will never be 10/10 or S tier, they’re missing that fundamental component of legends tier lists

@@Lost7one hex wraith are one of the best units in the vampire roaster in an open field if you dont go full skellies + WOD (even if you do imo). Like to have one or two good unit in all my VC armies with the skelly spam until i cheese economy with necromancers and go so rich i dont have to care anymore

I think Archaon increases the recruit rank of lords and exalted heroes factionwide though, so he should at least get to A tier in my opinion.

Only for his own horde, and only by 2 levels for the lords, though.

42:05 one thing you forgot to mention also is he makes all his units deal magic damage, and strips all magic resistance for enemy armies. Meaning that he strips all armor and non-ward save damage resist of the enemy

Not sure if it would change your ranking but one thing you missed with Thorgrim is he boosts commandments in addition to his global bonuses.

When he moved Grimgor up to B and said he has a super effective doomstack I knew it was the krimzon killaz maxout leadership with immortals banner doomstack. Designed to have a literally unkillable group of krimzon killaz. Just need to get to the rank to get them and several black orc big bosses.

I like to use these when deciding which faction lord to use, the faction lords with no faction bonuses but with high combat & "Lord's Army" bonuses being great to confederate. Very helpful for faction lords you aren't fully aware of their Skill Trees. Big help in that regard.

Actually, Wulfrik does not provide any bonuses to mammoth anymore. Just reduce upkeep cost to the army.

I was waiting for the Rakarth rating, only lord I’ve been able to finish a vortex campaign with, the monster menagerie is very useful in auto resolves and fun to play as so win win

The only decent thing about Tretch is the vanguard deployment for the army. Being able to pick precisely where you want your army to be at the beginning of the battle is nice. Despite that, I'd still rather have a generic warlord over him (or a plaguelord obviously).

Very late comment but if you count Felix for Gotrek, Repanse comes with Henri Massif who is a massive benefit to come alongside her. His unique bonuses compared to other paladins makes him outstanding at holding lines single-handedly early on while later game he gets monster-killing bonuses. Even confederating he's still a considerable boon because he'll be a good level by the time you can manage it. Obviously not a faction-wide bonus or an army boost, but a free hero that's as useful as him is nothing to sneeze at.

Just an FYI Orion provides a global bonus for missile damage so he is at least useful for making all your missile armies better for the wood elves.

Since you included Gotrek, I'd be interested in seeing how the other unique-but-not-technically-legendary lords stack up, such as Alastar, the Red Duke, or Boris.

Boris Todbringer is basically a generic Empire lord with some slightly higher stats (melee attack and defense if I remember corectly), same goes for the Red Duke. They really aren't that special at the moment.

Drycha can summon 300 malevolent dryads anywhere on the battlefield. Cheap shadow spells. Extra ranks & recruit from any settlement for branch wraiths

Tretch gives vanguard to his army, which in my opinion is quite good for weapons team armies and it should put it at least into C tier.

Don't forget Boris Todbringer, Alastar, Sarthorael, and the Red Duke!

I once played a campaign as Nakai and was doing fairly well, I had loads of friends and I was only a few turns away from winning the campaign until Brettonia and the entire Empire declared war on me and everything fell into ruin, I probably could have pulled it back eventually but I just couldn't be bothered and gave up

I never played Warhammer (and probably never will) but still watched 1h of video and found it entertaining. You're such a great content creator.

Durthu is the best LL in game when it comes down to who is best at wielding the 'Sword of Khaine'. Durthu's Splash attack calculates his total damage.... managing the public disorder on the other hand... It's up to who you want to be I guess. Optimus Pine or Mega Trunk. I know whom I had more fun as.

Yes he buffs Marauder hunters now, what a downgrade for faction that is very weak to begin with.

With Gringor he's referring to the Black Orc boss with Confident/Disciplined + Black Orc Unit/RoR variant in his army with "The Immortalz" banner on the Black Orcs. These things combined essentially makes the Black Orc unit Invincible and they can just solo enemy armies Edit: Depending on circumstances not even a Pompous/Stinky Nurgle debuff stack could beat it

Teclis to s tier please. You forgot to factor in his swag, stylish dress and sexy unibrow frown...

I live how the most played part is his ranking of Karl Franz.

its worth noting that anytime you confederate Markus Wulfhart you get all 4 legendary heroes with their unique skill trees

I have only played a few campaigns in IE, but Nakai has definitely been my most successful. He feel’s basically unstoppable at this point

Mannfred is the one that gives that faction the movement speed. And he boosts leadership when facing men. Ghorst boosts zombies, so it's better to be a bit desperate for army numbers on him than other lords. He also is the one that provides casualty replenishment rates, which is pretty dope. Vlad only provides 5% movement speed in terms of buffs. But he does have vanguard deployment on all units, and he can access vampire heroes a lot sooner than the other lords. Isabella does not have a global bonus outside of the vampire boosts. Heinrich Kemmler has suitable climate mountains, he has a unique ability in battle and raise dead costs less. His upkeep on Necromancers is also lower, oh and a left field better diplomatic relation with chaos and beastmen.

Tier list for spellcaster legendary lords or battle field / combat only legendary lords would be nice as well :D great list tho!

For spellcaster LLs(on battlefield) Teclis > Malagor > Vampire Count legendary lords > the rest

Will you do a ranking of all NON-Legendary Lords as well? Including the Unlockables for Vamps and Tomb Kings?

You can tell how tired he is of the “you’re going in the book” joke. When he says that he just hear his voice totally deflate

I feel like army support abilities (upkeep cost reduction for a Lord's army, stats... etc) are only really relevant for melee lords and even then, only slightly as pretty much any spellcaster or lord with a decent mount will win battles by themselves. Because of that, battle and campaign would be a better way to rate these since with the majority of LLs like Teclis for instance he'd simply obliterate whatever you put him up against regardless of his own army composition. Someone like Eltharion or Belegar might win battles just as easily as Teclis or Malagor they should get the same rating for battle although perhaps teclis and malagor should get higher scores as they don't really need an army to do the exact same task

Don't forget the powerful banners and followers that Tehenhauin can get, like -20% upkeep and stuff. I think he's the best LL for lizardmen just for those!
