What’s the Legend (2015) movie about?
From Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Mystic River) comes the true story of the rise and fall of London’s most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an amazing double performance. Reggie is suave, charming and volatile. Ronnie is his unstable twin brother. Using violence to get what they want, the siblings orchestrate robberies and murders while running nightclubs and protection rackets.
Legend is a classic crime thriller taking us into the secret history of the 1960s and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray twins.

It's contrived. She leaves the room to make tea or get cake whenever she knows they will be discussing "business" and she plays on Reggie's slight cold and prepares the bed for him to give him an alibi if ever he's questioned about the murder in the pub (and then appears again and acts surprised that the gangsters disposing of the weapon and intimidating witnesses have gone). It's clear she's also aware of Reggie's (and more famously Ronnie's) bisexuality, because she invites the pretty boy Teddy to stay behind despite her son's alleged "fever". It's a small scene, but a significant one: Violet Kray is thought to have had certain narcissistic tendencies and she transferred them to her sons. Her specialty was silence and that's how she wins the respect of the male criminals around her in this film portrayal.

She reminds me of my mom. The oldest of 11 and seven of her siblings were hard-core heroin addicts and indulged in the Juarez underworld. @@RobRIPDG They threatened the psychiatrist to lie so that Ron could be released. There's a scene prior to Ron's release where a thug working for the Krays visits the psychiatrist. There's also the scene after the hearing where the doctor gives the medication to Reggie to administer to Ron. This is narrative support for the fact that Ron was clinically insane. The doctor knew it, but lied because he was threatened with violence. Why is the doctor giving antipsychotics to a patient who doesn't need them? It wouldn't make any sense. The true answer, and the only logical explanation, is that Ron was insane. Reggie threatened the doctor to get Ron out. Reggie accepts the medication to give to Ron as a compromise because Reggie knows full well how sick Ron really is. Did you even watch the movie? You clearly remember the scene where he gets released from the ward. But not the scene directly before or afterwards? No wonder you're completely wrong. You're missing all the narrative context requisite in order to be right.

So this is my opinion… but I think that part of the scene was trying to show how Ronnie gets very uncomfortable when someone touches him affectionately or shows him affection in general, even if it’s his mom. You can even see that mom was hesitant to touch him because either she knows how much he dislikes it, or she’s lowkey afraid of him, or both. But it’s clear the amount of tension in his face and shoulders it causes him. I might be wrong but that’s the impression I got.

@Mrfairchap maybe; but honestly it's just also being smart and having respect for his mother no to discuss buisness and stuff in front of her. It could incriminate her if she knew anything; so having that alibi and just playing it safe is just a smart move. I know if i was doing some shady shit, I'd never tell my friends and family out of respect for them. My fuck-ups are mine alone; simple as that. On the flip side; Ron was smart in going to his mom's place as it provides a good alibi (he's sick and needed someone to help him with some things while he recovers) and he also knows he'll be safe in case Reggie blows his top and tries to beat him up or something. It helped everyone keep a level head and figure out a workable plan in safe territory.
What i love about this film is how they pictured the mother, she's not an idiot, she's not clueless, she's aware they're not the goodest children, however, they're still her children, they wont throw them away coz of the life they live, and her actor, is brilliant, shows this perfectly with one simple line "whatever hes done, he's your brother" great film, cannot recommend enough

Absolutely insane acting skill by Hardy, in one scene simultaneously playing Ron, Reggie, and their mum.

According to witnesses that were present at the Blind Beggar that day, this was exactly what George Cornell did (gave a slight grin) as soon as Ronnie Kray walked up and put one right between his eyes…. supposedly. I don’t care what part of the world you’re in or at what point in time, to walk up to a person in public and dot that head for them like the way Kray did Cornell in that pub back in 66…. takes brass balls and an intense level of insanity.

That's pretty normal. If you find someone who acts hard but doesn't love their mumsie, they're harmless. You can break them. If they're dead courteous to people who aren't in the life and close with their mum, not the people you wanna fuck with. They're the dangerous ones.
I simply cannot get over the precision of this guy's acting
Damn.. you can't understate how briliantly written this whole thing is... I've not seen this movie but I really have to. I've seen a few clips here and there and EVERY one is just wow...I don't expect the whole movie to be gold but it's got a hell of a highlight reel that's for sure..

I still can't believe Hardy plays both roles so well. They are completely opposite and he nails them both in the same scene. Brilliant!
Nice to see Alfie and Arthur getting along.

George Cornell must have been hard as nails to just smile at Ronald kray after being shot by him through the forehead then to fall straight backwards on his stool without a care in the world to the very real possible consequences of hitting his head hard on the floor afterwards maybe possibly resulting in further untold injuries to the one he had already just sustained. That was some hell of a risk he took there! Hopefully he will be ok.
