I'm a baby elf so I just knew a bit that Leeteuk had a hard time at some point but didn't know it was this severe and that he even had depression!!! I'm so proud of him for being able to pull through and leave those dark days behind. I appreciate and love him even more, he is such an amazing and beautiful man and deserves all the love. I pray for him to be happy and strong, for him to not let anything nor anyone take away his light & smile, and for him to know that there is a lot of people that love him and will always support him!! Come on elf, we have to let him know how much we love him every time we can!! 💙💙

The fact he lost like all of his immediate family save for his sister during his service was so horrible . He truly has been through alot . And then he even had to pay the debt his dad left after the crimes.

I'm a baby elf too but I knew about Leeteuk's trauma. Especially since the news of his father broke out, I was worried for him. I thought since then he would have PTSD or smth, turns out, he had this problem from wayy before which makes me even more anxious for him. I hope he's doing well. He's a selfless hyung & leader to his members, I love how Hee took him to counseling and Teukkie almost broke down. I hope it was his pent up feelings getting out because it is necessary...

poor teukie i understand what the manager told him was cruel at that time but im glad he did it with severe depression and public hatred our teukie probably wouldn't have survived so im glad he stayed i hope it gets better everyday

Same thoughts. It sounded cruel but it was probably the reason our Teukie survived. Just like Sungmin said, Leeteuk oppa's strength is within. His inner strength is greater than his physical strength & I'm really thankful for that.

This is why I have so much respect for this hyung. He had suffered so much, he's going through a lot and he still able to show the best smile all the time. Depression is never to be taken lightly, how hard it is for him to have endured it for years. Thank God really for helping him. I have so much respect and love for him. I am glad that thngs seem to be changing a little bit. Taemin, who also suffers from depresion/anxiety, could change to public service duty and go home after work. And no one said anything bad about it.

I can't even breathe properly watching this.... It hurts... Leetuek is so strong... I can't believe people are still harassing him online everyday talking shit about him... He went through so much... He doesn't deserve any hate... Seeing my pillar saying that he was very tired break my heart so much....

How heartbreaking for all that our leader had to endure and so thankful he pulled thru the hardship. May the road ahead be bright, he deserves it 💙

Am thankful he make it through. I can understand the logic of what the manager said. Public opinion on that time (when mental illness still uncommon to understand) will depressed him more if he discharged earlier. But am also thankful the management did differently for Taemin.

@@lolaWWEWWFpunk The military transferred Taemin from the military band to public service so he can go home at night. His depression and panic attacks got so bad they couldn't allow him to work and be treated at the same time.

As a mother this story breaks my heart, I am so proud of you for getting through this hard time

He is such an incredible person. It breaks my heart that he's been through so much hardship.

I feel so sad for the pain he went through. Teukie hyung, thank you for being strong and staying with us.

It's unfair how some celebs get away from shirking on their military duty, while others need to suffer even with severe injury or health condition.

There is often so much self loathing with depression. A lot of times I think that it's not depression, I'm just a lazy POP (piece of poop). I know very well I have diagnosed mental illnesses, but my brain whispers ugly things. But one day I realized, no mentally healthy person can stay in bed for months on end. They'd go out of their mind after a few hours or a few days. I'm glad he talked about this in this kind of detail. More celebrities are talking about it, but it always seems a bit glamorous, or impersonal. His is gritty and relatable.

i just want to say you've been uploading a lot of translated clips that as a baby elf i've never been able to watch.... it means a lot and i really appreciate it!! so much past content for me to sift through and get to know the members better

Leeteuk is such a strong person his military experience was horrible and so hard for him and unfair but also the fact he lost his family during that was such a trauma to deal with while already in a bad place .

First of all, if he had to endure that much if a side effects from the drugs plus it didn't help his depression at all then that means it wasn't the right treatments for him and might've made his depression worst. Secondly, what the "manager" told him is inhumane and we were lucky it didn't cause a life. It somewhat was the truth that if he got layoff or resigned from his position in the military he will be bashed by the Korean public however he deserves to live, he deserves his human rights, he deserves his rest, he deserves more than that. He deserves to know that he is SAFE whenever he need to feel so. Not being told that he is imprisoned by the Korean public opinion over military services and should die for it.

I really Hope he talks more about it because it helps me and because people have to know.. I wish It gets known to more people especially k-netizens how much he had suffered to realize how shit of people they've been towards him and how sick of them to point fingers at someone like him

I want to hug him and tell him that we can heal every day of our lives if we allow ourselves to. He is a strong person, but it is also important to be vulnerable and say that we are not okay. Depression is a mental illness and should be taken for what it is. Koreans urgently need mental health awareness, there are many cases like Leeteuk's that show the lack of mental health support and education. I hope that Korea can grow in empathy as they grow in technology.

He should have been released from service after his dad and grandparents funeral. It was wrong of the military to recall him after that.

That is hardly a decision he should have had to make that that time. The military should have made the decision to release him
