    I absolutely loved this video! I scuba dive and am about to begin my journey into underwater photography and with minimal light underwater this is a very frugal way to increase the lighting.

    Thanks for your video. Based off this and another I made a pair of these lights with some changes to be used to set out and stand themselves up vertically using 1.5" pvc, with the cord coming in from the side of the bottom end, lead weights in the bottom, filled with insulating foam, all sealed up but just in case of any future leaks. I also covered the outside, esp over the LEDs and holes for wiring, with a clear plastic shrink wrap for a little extra protection from leaking or damage to the LED strip while also holding it in place even more than added adhesive. Mine are designed to set out and fish from a dock or shore rather hang down, with enough weight in the end that they will sink but stand up.

    I know this is an oldie, but goody KZread, but it was exactly what I needed to see. I've watch other submersible fishin light vids, but yours was the most instructive and didn't waste a ton of time getting to the end product. Many of the others vids crammed 5 mins of useful info into a 20 minute video...AAAAARRRRGGG! Gonna make one to take out in San Diego Bay at night (while hoop netting for spiney lobsters) to help replenish my bait supply of fresh mackerel...while the hoop nets "soak". If U R ever in San Diego, would love to hook up to share some great fresh and saltwater fishin adventures. Thx for a terrific KZread channel!

    Thanks for your video as I had a little different idea. Pool noddle glued up like a picture frame with Plexiglas glass glued on the bottom of the noddle frame. Had also considered installing led lights on the bottom of the noddle frame. But because of your video I believe I will try your version first. With your light stick I'll be able to tell how deep to fish.

    You can use clear fluorescent light bulb protectors instead of polypropylene tubing. the larger diameter bulb protectors will fit 1-1/4" PVC fittings. You can get a long clear light protector at lowes for $3.00 (cut to length).

    HARGAR Plays just be careful not to drop them below 15ft. The water pressure below 15ft will cause them to start cracking longways from end to end. I’ve started using 1-1/4” clear vinyl tubing. Not the braided type, just clear. Home Depot sells precut 3ft for $7.00. The 1-1/2” pvc sch40 caps fit perfectly over the outside of tube. Seal with heavy duty grade pvc cement and seal outer rim with Marine plastic epoxy.

    Great Video. The LED strip light you used from amazon is rated as IP65 for its waterproof rating meaning basically its rain proof and not for submersion. The submersible standard is IP68 which has two coverings to make sure the LED are waterproof and are designed for submersion. How has your light lasted? Have you used it many times? Thanks for the straight forward video

    Fishin N Stuff, have you had any shorts or issues with this method yet? I did my first light this way and it ended up shorting out about 8 leds from the top. It stayed fully on for about an hour but then started flickering and all but those 8 went out. I just fished for about 2 hours more like that then it flashed orange and red and slowly dimmed into dark. when I pulled the strip off later it had started melting at one of the junction points on the back side of it where the sticky side is. I really don't know if it was just a bad connection there or the water caused it. I have more lights to try another one but haven't decided if I will use this way or the old way with the cover over it.

    Yea man another great video that light is sick bro im making 1 or 2 or 3 i have a big reel of those LED lights in white i made something similar for the bottom of the Jeep no way as cool as yours i just took a 12' strip folded it in half amd slipped it in a clear tube and silicone the end 3yrs later because i DIDN'T take the time to do it right only half still work so im gunna make em like you do. Why not do a video on the 66 Mustang make it like a miniseries lol and man i could only imagine how much effort goes into youtubing it's hard enough to make things right let alone videotape yourself doing it lol Lot of LOVE bro from LONG ISLAND NY P.S. Maybe that that's where the plankton is the most concentrated I'm not sure . I have dropped en down 15 foot or so , but didn't catch much there . I would buy the thicker 16 ga wire just so it'll be stronger but that's me , Leds don't pull much amperage . Im pretty sure 2 foot of 1.25 will work I gave that light to a friend I'm thinking it was 16 inchs maybe couldn't have been over 18 or 20 but you can go 1.50 to make sure there's no rules when you leave it the polypropylene but I think 2 foot is enough I'll be making some more lights soon , before storing any ways so check back by or click the bell . I'l try and be more thorough

    We used to hang a lantern over the side just above the water to attract the baitfish . is there any difference in the color of light if so why meaning does a blue light attract a fish better than White lake versus red light and so on. Thanks

  • @FishinNStuff

    @FishinNStuff

    5 жыл бұрын

    I use red out of the water if you dont want to kill your night vision, ppl use blue lights in the ocean they say it penetrates the water better , in fresh water I think green works better for plankton I'm not sure why but I have white lights that work very well too . But most fresh water lakes have algae in them so the white lights put off a green hue any way , I made my DIY light green because that seems to be the most popular color for fresh water but I've used white more myself . I dont think you can go wrong with white or green , but striped bass fishermen have told me that white distresses the fish more than blue or green so it makes sense to use green I guess . I'm not a scientist though haha , I appreciate you watching brother . If you ever have anything to add to a subject feel welcome to leave a comment, thank you for watching buddy
