Sorry that I didn’t help you with “how to replace the bulbs/strips” but WOW 😮 9 years worth of everyday use! That seems like a great return on investment.
I got on similar at Walmart, Mainstays brand. It's bright, really bright. Gonna put it in the garage and take the old fluorescent fixture down. Thanks, Good video 👍

The problem I have is putting the light back on the frame once it fall from the ceiling.

Yeah that part is a bit difficult be cause there is not a lot of room to be able to see how they line up... It took me a few attempts as well.
Does yours have a faint glow when turned off at the switch? It’s only noticeable when the room is completely dark
@DetroneDoesIt

There is a faint glow when completely dark in the room. Mine usually dissipates after a minute or so.
I hope this doesn’t sound silly but what did you connect the ground wire with? Does it just connect to something metal or does it go inside one of the caps?
@DetroneDoesIt
5 ай бұрын
Mine is attached to the copper ground wire inside my electrical box, but some setups will have a support bar with a screw (sometimes green) that you can connect it to.
I got a similar one from Amazon but it's non dimmable. I thought no big deal, but the darn thing won't TURN OFF from the switch; I gotta turn off the breaker for it to turn off lmao. It onl;y had white and black wires from the junction box, not smart enabled and didn't use the red or ground cable.

Ouch! That’s a pretty roughy situation to be in… Do you know the Brand name or Manufacturer of that one you got?
I have a brown and blue wire on the new light . And the ones running out of my curling are white and black

That’s different… I am not exactly sure what those colors correlate to.
Before removing and installing, do we need to turn off electricity for entire house or just the switch??
@DetroneDoesIt
2 ай бұрын
You just want to turn off the electricity to the breaker that controls that switch. Your breaker box should be labeled to make it easy to find. Then make sure you test it (try turning the light on) to ensure it’s completely off before installing the new one.
I had an LED fixture like that installed in my kitchen and after about 6 months it started flickering. Then it got very dim and still flickers. Defective light or installation problem???
@DetroneDoesIt
7 ай бұрын
Could be a defective light but it’s more likely that there is a “less than secure” connection where the wires meet. I am experiencing that with one of the fixtures I put up recently, where it is flickering, so my first step to resolving it is going to ensure a quality connection.
Ok so what did you attached the ground wire to? That’s why I was watching the video to see what I do with the yellow wire, do I attach it to the screw as a ground or what?
@DetroneDoesIt
3 ай бұрын
Sorry I didn’t give the close up on that part but my ceilings have Cooper ground wires in them that were pre-installed and just capped off…. So I attached my ground to that. If your mounting bracket has metal grounding screw then you can ground it to that.

It’s capped off and tucked back behind the light
@ DETRONE How do you change the Led in them when they burn out ?
@DetroneDoesIt
3 ай бұрын
So I don’t believe that you actually replace the LED, you would just replace the fixture. It’s said to give 50,000 hours of light… which would be a minimum of 5 years worth of use. Here’s how I looked at the math… - 50,000 hours/24 hrs a day= 2,083 days worth of light - 2,083/365= 5.7 years of continuous lighting according to the manufacturer’s claim. - $43/5.7= $7.54 per year of cost for the fixture if you ran it consistently for 5.7 years. But I’ll do a little more research to make sure the LED’s aren’t replaceable… BRB 😂 (also thanks for watching)

@@DetroneDoesIt thankyou for your quick honest reply re..changing Led.
It not easy to hook up the light to the fixture
@DetroneDoesIt

Yes aligning the light to the bracket can get a little dicey because you can not exactly see how it lines up… but after a few tries it wasn’t so bad for me.
What is the yellow wire
@DetroneDoesIt
Жыл бұрын
All of my rooms were pre-wired for ceiling fans… that yellow wire is there incase I want to wire that ceiling fan in the future.
How many watts is it?
@DetroneDoesIt

Maximum is 18.5 watts I believe
How do change the color?
@DetroneDoesIt
Жыл бұрын
You change the color with a switch on the back of the light, so to adjust it you’ll need to take the light off each time… but it is compatible with a dimmer switch, so you could install that and change the color from your wall switch.

@@DetroneDoesItThere are some set-ups that are even easier. I just put up a couple of LED flushmounts in my basement. They were Calloway Adjustable Color 11in. The fixture hangs from the mounting bracket while you make the splices (I used WAGO connectors), and the color adjustment is on the side. To adjust the color, you just have to remove the cover ring and change the switch position with the fixture still mounted. They replaced a couple of huge florescent fixtures, and they were fairly inexpensive.
@HeadedNorthPodcast
Жыл бұрын
I do wish I had done just a bit of research on that light and buying one that had the light adjustment switch on the side. Although when I install dimmers, that won’t be a big concern… right now it does create a bit more work to change the color.
@dutchray8880
Жыл бұрын
@@HeadedNorthPodcast One other thing about the Calloway lights is that there's a lot of room in the back of the light for wires.
@DetroneDoesIt
Жыл бұрын
@@dutchray8880 Yes that is another thing… because the design of the light is so low profile it does not offer much room behind the light to tuck the wire comfortably. Great point!
Mine doesn’t have a ground??? wtf. My house has the ground wire but the fixture does not. I can’t just cap it and call it a day.
@DetroneDoesIt
2 ай бұрын
If you fixture didn’t come with a wire for a ground I would research if it was suppose it (which it probably should have) then possibly return it and get another. If it is some kind of light designed without a ground, you can just cap off your ground wire in your ceiling.
Great vid. Minimal BS, to the point.
