Lecture 16: Porous-Fibrous Sound Absorbers
This lecture describes the effect of various factors on the sound absorption coefficient of porous-fibrous absorbers. Macroscopic physical properties that affect the absorption of porous-fibrous absorbers such as flow resistivity, porosity, and pore tortuosity are discussed. Advantages and limitations of such absorbers are also mentioned.

Excellent! I may need to go back and watch the others too.
Dear Madam, why does low frequency absorption coefficient improve due to air gap?

more depth between absorber boundary and reflecting back wall means it can "reach" a longer total longitudinal wavelength - however if the air gap is larger than the absorber thickness, then the absorption alpha becomes uneven across the spectrum.
