Leather Lever Loop Wrap (Winchester/Rossi)

Спорт

Put a leather wrap on the Winchester 92 and the Ross 92 lever loops. Very easy and cheap to to, so if you don't care for the look you aren't out any real money. Start with about 30 inches or so of leather and just wrap it around the loop staying away from the trigger well. I put a black braided wrap on the Rossi stainless to match the leather butt wrap and a plain brown shoelace style on the Winchester.

    Thanks to your video, I picked up some lacing and did this to my 18" Rossi M92 in .44. Turned out great and is more comfortable with a generous treatment of mink oil. Thanks for making it easy to follow!

    I used an ugly old piece of rawhide for now.. Ordered the same braid as you have, doing my Marlin 336. Thanks for the video, I couldn't get it right on my own, this helped!

    Nice work - have you tried the saddle ring (found on trapper versions of 1892 style lever guns). Can't find any "how-to" videos for that ring.

    It is really soft leather, nothing to worry about as far as cuts or scrapes on the fingers. It sold as leather to make bracelets, so it is soft. For just a few bucks it is worth trying out, if you end up not liking it you didn't break the bank.

    I hear you can create moisture and trap sweat and could end up with rust... ?

    I know this is a common "accessory" added to lever guns. Just be aware that leather in direct contact with steel will, over time, lead to a good deal of corrosion. Some leathers are worse than others, depending on tanning method, but they'll all do it to some degree.

    Gonna try this with a faux leather cord since I heard real leather can lead to rust on your lever after a while.

    I was thinking about getting one of these rifles in 357 mag. Is this a pretty solid reliable gun?

  • @whiterook85

    @whiterook85

    +Trevor S The Rossi is very solid, needs some breaking in to be have a smooth action. You can do that with a little lubricant and racking the action for about 30 minutes or so. Shoots good, hits about everything you aim at.
