HOW TO MODIFY THE WINCHESTER "94" TO SPIN-COCK AND FAN

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Join Dan Mink, The Rhinestone Roper and multiple Wild West World Champion, as he teaches HOW TO SPIN-COCK AND FAN THE WINCHESTER "94" and explains the modifications to the gun that make these Classic Western moves possible. Some of us remember Lucas McCain in THE RIFLEMAN and ROOSTER COGBURN as they spun their rifles in one hand take care of the bad guys. This video shows how any Cowboy, Cowgirl or other frontier enthusiast can handle their rifle in the same way.

@@rhinestoneropers9204 I've only done it with snap caps to void the chance of putting a hole in my chest, but yes haha. Modified with a big loop, of course. Same technique as you'd use for the Winchester, just a little extra bend in the stance when you first flip it out.

I wouldn't say this is stupid. This rifle setup was actually mentioned in the movie El Dorado, near the beginning of the movie. Not directly but I knew what he meant. You could see the big loop lever on it. John Wayne tells Robert Mitchum, "There's something familiar about that gun." Then Mitchum replied, "I just had it fixed up like you had yours. You got lucky with it, so I thought I would give it a try". There is also a scene near the end of the movie Rio Lobo where they are getting ready to make a trade of two guys. John Wayne says "hold it a minute." He then swaps the rifle he is holding for one in a holster on his horse. You can see he swaps it for a rifle with a big loop lever. I believe this type of rifle mod, was a big deal to him.

Maaaann, you are fixing to get me into all kinds of trouble! Just discovered your channel yesterday and already I've gotten out a Vaquero. Looking for an indoor place to spin. And now...Holy Cow! If I get out a Winchester or Henry...it's on!! I can already see the 18" long, 1/2" deep scar in my wife's new hardwood flooring from the front site or the buttplate!! HA! The McCains had a dirt floor and no woman of the house to fuss, scold, & cold-shoulder Lucas and Mark when they broke a table or a lamp. I've never tried this but is seems like a '92 would be better for spin-cocking. Usually a shorter shell/action, and the whole guts of the carbine don't come out with the lever. I don't have a '92...maybe need to rectify that. You're that guy that I didn't need to hang out with when I was young, but DID ANYWAY! Thanks for the video....I THINK!

Usually these are called mare's legs and done with a Winchester with the stock and the barrel cut down. Here the barrel is not trimmed. After all, he is Arnold.

Spin cocking the rifle is not hard to learn. It depends on how long the barrel is in relation to your arm length. You might tape the end sight on the barrel because you will probably hit your shoulder with it a couple times. After you understand how far you have to reach to clear your shoulder, you are on your way.

Is it possible to do this using an 1860 Henry Rifle? (gotta send em confederates running!) If possible, which brand do you think makes the better reproduction of said rifle?

I have a Henry but I'm no expert with it. The action on mine is not smooth enough to try any of this. I have a big loop for it but its not shaped right to spin. I would have to say don't count on being able to use a Henry.

I've had people get weird when spin cocking my henry, and it's understandable, but the lever has the bolt open during the spin and no round is chambered, thus rendering the firearm inoperable until the lever is closed on the catch, at which point the barrel is pointed down range.

Hi 88, I'm not familiar with airsoft guns. The BB guns that I have dealt with require some force to cock them. The act of pulling the lever also pumps air into a chamber to fire the bb. I think the only way to do it would be to hold the gun with both hands, cock the lever with a downward thrust and the let the gun spin to close it. Then there is the problem of finding a Big Loop Lever for a BB gun. I've never heard of that. If you make it happen please let me know. Good Luck Dan

I wouldn't do this all that much. It was a trick for the movies and TV. It's actually one of the worst things for your rifle. It can easily ruin the action. The movie studios didn't have to worry because they always had at least one extra ready. Looks cool though.
