This week, Melida and I went on the grueling but fun month long journey to learning how to breakdance. I had always wanted to learn how to breakdance, but had no idea how freeing, beautiful and inclusive both the dance and the community is. Thank you to the two best teachers @kingflylin and @martinkiene for taking us under their wings, I can't wait to train some more and become a breakdance MASTER. :)
Special thank you to @breakdancecrew.paris for organizing this adventure, check out their page if you want to take lessons in breakdance as well, breakdancing is the best!!!

That was so lovely to watch. I cant even imagine doing that and going for a dance off against those kids...
As a 26 yo who feels like I haven't put myself out there enough to learn new skills and make new friends. Seeing Tommy really push himself is eye opening, it's inspiring to see anyone can do whatever they want if they put their mind to it. Thank you!

As a 26 yo when Eric said we're adults and usually it's weird for someone to start a hobby now I felt so old 😂
Pro dancer here, i been a pro streetdancer since I was 18 but only started to learn bboying at 38yrs old, still going now at 54yrs old, it's never too old to learn, respect to you, it's simple practise makes perfect.

that's nice to hear. sometimes you get the impression that certain things can't be done (physically) past a certain age. 20s being ideal and 30s even getting a little sketchy. breakdance just looks so fun.
It blows my mind how Yes Theory has grown from Project 30 (which I love) to having multiple storytellers. Each with their own “type” of story to tell. But every episode is completely mind blowing. We get educated on topics we might not think that are interesting but end up 🤯 in the best way possible. Funny and emotional. All at the same time 😂

As a former dancer who became disabled and pretty much bed bound in her early 30s, I really encourage everyone to go out and try everything you’ve always wanted to try. You may find your calling, or you may suck at it but have a great time, either way, just do it because you don’t know how much time you may have.

Oh so true. I am so sorry about your situation. I only wish I had the courage to do dance. Ever. I was diagnosed with several health issues (mainly rare genetic disease/disorders, traumatic injuries from accidents, etc). My mind still thinks I can do things..but my body is not cooperating. So, I absolutely agree that anyone that wants to, is capable of doing, should absolutly GO FOR IT WHILE YOU... 'CAN' !!!!! Chrisy, I would love to see videos of your dancing!!!!! I envy dancers...because I've always wanted to be a dancer. Thank you for your story. 💚
I feel like once we stop being kids, so many of us hold ourselves back from trying new things because we're embarrassed and scared to suck, scared of other people's judgement (myself included). Major props for putting yourself out there- I've always sucked at dancing too so I relate. Time to challenge myself!

Stay in my country whereby most of older and not so old people will stop learning new things and becoming judgemental.
That was actually extremely impressive to see how quickly these two progressed in 1 month, even getting down a clean baby freeze! This was great video, as someone who has been practicing for over 10 years it can be easy to forget what the beginning of the journey is like, and this documented the process so well to inspire others. Kudos to the video creators, and the teachers!
Tommy you're awesome AF! 🙌🏼 Your growth over the last 2-3 years has been nothing short of absolutely phenomenal! Words can't describe the level of uncomfortable endeavors you have faced and overcome and I am beyond inspired to start achieving my goals. God Bless

So rad. I started salsa dancing last year at 25. Joined their performance team and went on to do 3 seperate choreography performances that year. One of them was to a 500 in person and 10,000 virtual audience. And no, I'm not even that good. Could have absolutely never imagined myself on stage doing that, but if you put yourself in that environment and have the community around you, you have no choice but to want to do your best, and have fun. Mad props🙌

That is so cool!
I started shuffling in 2020 (at 22 years old). I’ve been struggling with my technique and rhythm for 2.5 years and I kinda look a little too tense/awkward when dancing and doing the same moves over and over. I wish I looked better and smooth and effortless. People say I look good but I know I’m capable of so much more. This video inspires me to make 2023 my year to buckle up and get busy refining my technique! and I think I want to do a 30 day challenge myself!! I want to say 2024 I will not question posting a video ever again because I know I will be proud of my shuffle 🙏🏻
Old dogs can absolutely learn new tricks! one day at the age of 28 and a couple days after quitting a job, i woke up and could not get chainsaw carving off of my mind! so i bought a chainsaw at a pawn shop and starting going at it! still learning every day! Great video i love the dedication and inspiration. Awesome dancing

Man that’s how chainsaw carvers become themselves… one day people like you are just like “yep ima do that for sure”
My favourite part was “Thomas Brag: INFLUENCER” 😂
I think that dance, like any art, has its "ugly" stage, where it doesn't look great, but then it becomes this beautiful thing. With traditional art styles that's the process of creating anything, whereas dance its the process of learning. Awesome stuff Tommy and Melida!
As a bboy/breakdancer myself. It's nice to see someone commit to breaking at someone who is the same age as me from the beginning. In the end your execution was good and your rounds are solid. Way to go 👍🔥

Ah so stoked we get to see this journey!
I spent 5-6 years of my teenage years break dancing almost every day. Going to teenagers dance every weekend and battling….. this was a fun part of my life. I’m now 38 and honestly I miss it A LOTS!!!… often think about starting again, showing my kids how to break dance…. Always will be a bboy in my heart
And thats how we fall in love with Tommy 😁😌🤩

THIS IS SO INSPIRING like seriously i totally resonate with feeling too goofy or old to learn new things but once again this is an amazing example of how the limitations are all in our head!
Tommy I love your positive vibes and seeing you in front of the camera. Keep growing and inspiring all us shy kids out there!
I may need to Start my own Bucketlist :D
Man I must say seeing the kids dancing is so wholesome so many kids just wanna sit on their phones all day on Facebook and Tictoc but watching those kids chase their passion or hell just do some sort of physical activity is awesome! Oh and I love you Tommy... so so so so so so much ♥️ 😍🥰
Melida's footwork are sickk!! or should i call it Bgirl Melida ? Definitely!!! and shout out to Bboy Tommy as well. u proves us all wrong!! keep breaking !!! coming from a bboy myself.
This is awesome, honestly I love Tommy’s story telling. Another great one by him was when he travelled across Europe
I was feeling pretty down today. But this really helped cheer me up. I know Tommy had always been the more reserved member of Yes Theory so its awesome to see him get out of his comfort zone on his own. Thanks Yes Theory for always helping boost my spirits even when im at my lowest. I really appreciate all the hard work and love you put into the world.

Go Tommy and Meli! Anyone can dance for fun! It’s all about letting yourself go! I’ve always loved old musical movies and Broadway shows. There was a tap class for adult, my sister insisted that we go to realize our childhood dream. I’ve started tap dance at 42! Made new friends and just enjoying myself for 10 years. 🎩👞👞🎼♥️
As someone who has been exploring many physical activities past 30, such as yoga, sport climbing, and calisthenics, I don't agree that you can't learn new tricks past a certain age. I would feel miserable and unfulfilled if I didn't do these things on a regular basis. Mad respect to you guys for going out there and crashing it 🔥💪
You guys killed it!! Congrats, keep it up. I learned how to belly dance in my mid 30s. Dancing (of all types) is for all ages, all genders, all body types, all cultures. Dance is for everyone, full stop.
Amazing, super cool!!! Breaking is definitely not easy but you guys did it!!
this is super impressive, congrats!!! such an inspiration
I love this message and will always continue to follow my dreams even tho we get older and life happens.

Life happens so fast...GO do it!!!!
At the beginning of my first semester of my freshman year of college, the school of dance at my university offered a free African Dance class during the first week of classes. Me and a bunch of my friends went to unwind from orientation and I remember feeling the exact same silly and super vulnerable way those two were. I remember really vividly how being with those supportive people/teachers and pushing through/really embracing that discomfort was so freeing and so special. ps: me and one of those friends are taking the full dance course in the spring 😁
Started riding BMX when I was 24 and I felt really old. But as I got better it got more fun and I felt younger!
Tommy you're comment was spot on, at age 38 I got something called Avascular Necrosis. In 2 yrs I've had 2 hip replacements a knee replacement and 2 lower back surgeries. I'm greatful I lived an active life. Horse back riding on ocean beaches or in the mountains. Water skiing or jet skiing, camping.... didn't matter... it's memories. Now at only 40 I'm pretty locked in place. So anybody young reading this... just go live!
been breaking from 1999 till 2018. With age it's getting harder but still... it was the best fun in my life I won't ever regret.
As a bboy myself, my insight of the culture and the process you are at. Relative where you are at now, its phenomenal progress. All th noise of opinions being thrown around is just noise. I hope you understand that you are blessed to live in a place the break dancers are abundant and lived. I wish I lived in Paris to be around those breakdancers. You are in the dancing central of the world of bboys. I hope you continue to share the amazingness of the dance and feel grateful for the opportunity.
Watch till the end! Such a wholesome moment!! Love seek discomfort!
I. Am. Just. So. Freaking. PROUD.
One of the best episodes you guys have made. Makes me feel like everyone should learn how to brake dance
breakdance is for having fun and exploring things you never thought you could do, no matter what age. and you certainly did something wonderfull.
This was great to watch. I’m a choreographer from London, it’s extremely difficult to put yourself out there like that. They should be really proud of themselves just for giving it a go but they also learnt a lot and made excellent progress in a very short amount of time. I love nothing more than working with a student ready to challenge themselves and just go for it. It’s a wonderful and rewarding process to help someone grow a little. I hope very much you two keep it up. If you’re ever in London I’d be honoured to teach you or just go for a jam. Thanks for a great video.
Coincidentally I designed my own phone case on rhinoshield with "Seek Discomfort " on it, and I love the fact that I have a daily reminder on me all the time🥰⚡️
Awesome vlog; thank you for taking me on your journey, I 2 have loved the art as well. So nice sometimes to see other creators content that we/I/others can learn from. Be safe
Ya know what? I think this is one of THE best episodes so far. VERY inspiring! Thank you Tommy Boy! You just sparked me! Yeah, I'm 60...and blah blah blah...Come and get me! 😆
So proud of you guys, You were so focused and you fought hard to learn this tough dance in few classes. I'm so glad to have been your teacher, I hope you won't stop here and I hope we'll see each other again ;) "Great Teacher BigDaddyTheDude"

I love this for you Tommy and it looked amazing. When you called Eric and told us the story there it made me miss him so pls do a follow up on the breakdance journey with him :)))
i love rhinoshield ! i work as a mechanic at a car dealership. i hit my watch with rim and screen protector from rhinoshield into sharp edges and whatever things under a hood from vehicles. for over 2 years. yess the screen protector is scratched and is a bit uneven, but my watch works, nothing is broken. since over 2 years... rhinoshield is best !
Y’all killed it!! It looked like you guys were having so much fun ☺️
Wow this is truly inspiring. Well done guys x
Congrats to both of you ! It’s great to see happiness and smiling all the way
As a breakdancer, I feel your pain. Breakdancing uses parts of your body that you’d never thought you could use before
Really appreciated this as a 25 year old who hasn’t done enough new, physical challenges lately. Thanks for the encouragement!
Keep it up brother, keep practicing and learning more. Cant wait to see 6 months to a year of progress.
This is such great content!! Love it. Keep giving it all at the dance floor Tommy!💃🏾
I love yall so much, it inspires me
Man what a fun video! You got so much better, so much confidence and determination through an uncomfortable process! "It's not a loss, it's a lesson."

The call at the end, to bring it full circle, brought was SOO satisfying!! Way to go Tommy!!
I started belly dancing January 2022 and have been feeling bummed out lately because I know my moves but I'm still so awkward when dancing! This video has really inspired me not to give up

look at tommy man, so inspirational
The song during the big dance off and the outro is King Flexx - Look At Me Now
so I'm taking a break from preparing for a pitch I need to present in less than 24 hours.. and watching a video from yes theory or seek discomfort never disappoints to remind me of important things I should tell myself, tommy said great things that gave me my energy and hope back... even though what I'm working on is VERY FAR from break dancing haha... but that's the beauty of it.. healthy mentality is really what will give u everything and make everything work. thank you
tommy is the most extroverted introvert ive ever seen
aw this was fun to watch after a long stressful monday before xmas week
Love this so much
U a real one and an inspiration tommy!

Never too late for anything at all 👏🏼❤️Thank you sO sO much Seek Discomfort ❤️❤️❤️
Good job Tommy. Now how about having your friend teach you ballet? After 30 days you can have a ballet dance off. Now that would be really getting out of your comfort zone.
Yoooo big respect for trying breaking, if you ever want to learn in Dublin come down🤙🏽
Breakdance is a full body work out. I loved doing it when I was younger.
