Learning a language? Don’t let these 3 ideas hold you back

I’ve taught thousands of students from all over the world and I want to share 3 simple things that I’ve noticed hold many language learners back from achieving their goals. I’m going to talk about the general ideas of hard work, perfectionism, and “have to”. We’ll explore how each of these can block our learning. I’ll also give my opinion on accent and whether you should try to get rid of yours or not. In the comments, please answer my question and tell me “what if” you could speak English at the level you want: What would your life be like? www.engvid.com/learning-langu...

I've studied English for 14 years now. It's one of the most useful skills in the world! If I didn't learn English, my live wouldn't be what it is nowadays. I can completely agree, the beginnings are always very hard when you are learning a language. E.g. when I learn Japanese it's far more difficult than learning English.

Hi James, I just wanna thank you for all your advices and recommendations when learning English. I never studied English like I've doing last 3-4 months with you, also, I've meet Hadar Shamash who practically helps me a lot with pronunciation confidence, but you remember me to have attitude when trying to learn grammar, idioms, etc. I've set a goal for this year to master English, the ironic part is that I've always worked and spoken English because of my work, but I never committed myself to study and master it as well. However I finally set this goal for this year besides I'm still learning from your old videos. Thanks a lot James!!
