I noticed myself, whenever im practice driving with the learner badge on the rear, people tailgate us a LOT more often, i have no idea why, i follow the speed limit, not slowing down traffic and its just really weird. Its more dangerous as well, since learners are often slower to react, and may need to slam the brakes for something, where the tailgaters may not have enough time to brake without rear-ending us, it drives me nuts when i cant see anything but a mercedes badge in my rear view for 30 minutes. Just like, overtake me if its that big a problem ._.

The irony is that if someone has stalled for example, beeping is likely to panic the learner so they're much more likely to stall again.

One thing these videos taught me is that if the driving examiner has to step in at any point, you basically already failed 😅

Not always true! My examiner told me to slow down in a 20 zone, but she had to tell me because there was no signage. If in doubt, always ask

Not in my case, when I did my test I was waiting to pull onto the main road and it was literally so busy that I never had a chance to pull out because there was a constant stream of cars all about 5-10 meters apart from each other. This went on for over 10 minutes and eventually my examiner said he was going to "assist me" and I thought I had failed because he took control of the steering wheel but he actually just said "fuck it" and pulled out in front of one of the cars just so we could get back to the test🤣 passed first time

I’m officially a part of the passed but still watching club. I passed today on my first attempt with 1 minor I can’t believe it! I was such a nervous driver and took the test after 1 year and a half of lessons. Don’t rush yourself or feel bad if you don’t pass by a certain date. If I can do it, anyone can. 🙂

@@legolas2899 I told my instructor on my first lesson: "I hate driving, let's get it over and done with as quick as we can". He was speechless but understood my passion was real 😅 I learned all of my driving within 10 lessons, and had 7 more lessons on the run up to my test. All in a span of 3 months. Passed with 3 minors. Honestly, I think it was just my hatred for being on the road that motivated me to pass so quickly. That was in 2015 when I was 17 years old. I have been driving for 3 years now and absolutely love it. I don't know what happened 🤣🙈

I passed my test 7 months ago and the one tip i will BEG all learners to do is: ' experiment to understand'. What i mean by this is that your driving lessons are not only a mechanism to learn how to drive, but also understanding a vehicle. Your instructor is there as a safety net so do not worry about making 'grave mistakes'. Learn how the gears and clutch truly work, how to gear down smoothly, how to engine brake down hills, how gravity affects the momentums of hill starts. Understanding the science behind the vehicle is JUST if not MORE important than learning how to drive the vehicle and your driving lessons are a way to get the answers to the questions that have peeked your interest. Afterall, you are paying loads of money for these lessons so make the most out of them!

Tbh not all cars are the same some people will mess up i learned in a diesel car and passed on my second attempt , i never once used the gas + clutch to move off in my instructors car always only the clutch. And when I bought a petrol bmw i found it extremely difficult to drive it because I wasn’t used to the using both clutch and gas to give the car power😂

Personally I think it's far more important to pass your test ASAP and get out in your own car. You can learn all that at your leisure and not at £30+/hr. If you can get that and everything else done in 20 hours of lessons, fair enough. But I definitely reached a point a little later than that where I just needed time out on the road to perfect clutch control and the presence of an instructor wasn't helpful.

Crazy the amount of things she hasn't covered in 30hours. My driving instructor and I had a clear laid out plan. Covered a new thing every lesson and discussed what we did on the prior (mistakes etc) at the start of a new lesson. Crazy how some people just waste so many learning hours. I did 15hours of lessons then passed my test. Definitely largely due to the instructor and I following a strick plan and not wasting lesson time.

Following a strict plan only works if you are ready - if the plan had you doing a new thing each week it didn't factor in the possibility that you wouldn't have mastered the previous thing. All kinds of unready plonkers can pass their test - men especially have a higher pass rate than women but are twice as likely to get points on their license. 15 to hours isn't a lot - you could pass a test with it, but someone with only around 25 hours total driving experience wouldn't be very safe.

I haven´t drova a car for 10 years and in three weeks I drove four different cars in a country that I almost never drove before and I did not stall any time. I was stressed though and nervous but it went well. I am surprised how the handling of a car is in my bones and I thought my driving would be a mess.

I'm amazed at how quick that front demister is. On both my Skodas (my old 2009 and current 2016 model) it's pretty slow and you often don't see much improvement unless you're gently moving and have the revs up. Probably the one thing that I don't like on my car. It can get annoying in winter when you don't want to hang about.

remember the car was already warmed and the engine up to temperature. Pushing that button puts the full fans on, the heating on full and turns on the air-con. It would clear very fast.

I understand if she was learning in a diesel, because I practised hill starts and reverse hill starts for 20 minutes in a field in a 90s petrol car. So, when I started lessons with an instructor who had a modern diesel, I stalled 3 times over 30 lessons, all of which were instances where I rushed off the clutch too quickly in a panic. She is clearly struggling with basic things, she doesn't understand how gears work, which is contributing to her mistakes. Her instructor should do a lesson exclusively dedicated explaining gears whilst doing hill starts, because then stop-start traffic won't phase you ever again.

nah women usually take longer, I had my dad teach me in less than 8 hours passed first time EDIT: After watching the video yeah ur right some of her mistakes are cringeworthy as if she just started learning yesterday

I had several failed "mock tests" followed by a pass on the first real test with a single minor. The instructors seemed to be a lot stricter than the examiner. But it worked!

I think examiners are quite lenient as long as you're driving safely, but instructors tend to mark all faults on mock tests (regardless of severity) so they know what they need to practice with their pupils.

That’s a good thing, if your instructor has a higher standard and not picks your faults, they can work through it with you and then when it’s time to have your actual practical test it should be easy.

Most people would feel uncomfortable being with the first one that failed them, but you seem to have managed👍 Luckily☝️you didn’t have 2 examiners, where there’s a driving supervisor who monitors and evaluates the performance of your driving examiner. I was in that exact same situation.. and surprisingly I passed, but it was in the morning where the test routes are more easier than usual, as there’s lighter traffic and no dual carriageways or major roundabouts I’ve done on my test - but still pretty hard with 2 examiners breathing down my neck for that extra added pressure😂

Mock tests are a really good idea. At my driving school, one mock test was mandatory anyway, but I took some extra lessons and asked to do couple more mock sessions. Driving entirely on your own is a totally different story compared to the instructor reminding you about what to do. Seems like it worked for me, passed the first time. And I'll keep recapping and watching videos such as these to help remind me out there in real life.

Where I live that's more or less mandatory. You can learn either at a licensed school or what is called "external learning" with a private instructor. You must take a written and practical exam at a school anyway before you are allowed to take a written exam at the DMV (not sure what the term is really in English or if that is the last body where you take your exam in the UK, but I mean that institution) after which you are then allowed to take a practical exam. Not sure if changed since I took mine more than 13 years ago, but used to be a start in a dedicated practice ground where you would do a start/stop (basically emergency break), uphill start if in a manual, randomly either a 45 degree or parallel parking (technically also 90 degree is in the mix, but never tested because of the next one), a T shaped reverse and pull out and turning around within an 8x8 meter square. For the parking you were only allowed to go into reverse once but I think each switch is simply counted as a minor. Only then can you go out to the road. Oh and if you do not adjust the mirrors before starting even in the lot, you instantly fail. Otherwise probably same as UK, 1 major, repeat the same minor 6 times or do 9 individual minors and you are out. I have to say, the additional mock exams even in the friendly environment of your instructor do not help everyone. Most of my friends had to take at least 2 attempts at the government exam with one needing more than 5 attempts.

One of the first 'moments' that is taught in Sweden is starting from the side of a road. My instructor taught me to say the words "Får jag köra?" (May I drive?) each time, where each word has an accompanying action. When you say "May", you check the mirrors, you check the blindspot when you say "I", and when satisfied that there's nobody who is about to pass anybody alongside, you say "drive?" and turn on the blinker. "Ja/Yes" is the answer, and off you go! I did this verbally a few times till it became internalized.

Watching this showed me how patient the instructor is. Hats off to him

I sat watching this with my right foot ready to press the brake all the time. I’ve been driving for more than 30 years and find it pays to give learner drivers plenty of room. Nobody is born with driving skills and the most important part of learning is to take lessons with a great instructor who will instil good, safe driving habits. This driver just needs a lot more practice in my opinion. You cannot laugh off serious mistakes that might cost a life when there is no instructor with dual pedals to save you.

As a driving instructor for over 25 years, this girl's level is far undertrained. A mock test is a mockery. It's so apparent she should gone through controls, from instrumentals, controls, such as pedals, gears, vision checks and so on. I don't understand the training I have seen in the U.K. compared to the way we train hear in Australia. We have a logbook system covering all aspects of driving. It was 120 hours of training, a maximum of hours with a D.I. to fix parental training as well. 'have you covered parallel parking?' after 30 hours? It's laughable.

I noticed various times when she'd stalled she didn't do mirror and blindspot checks.

I have passed my driving test for the first time couple of years ago without having any lessons with an instructor just about 20hours driving with my mate and watching your videos helped me a lot and i still keep coming back watching your videos years later altough im a confident driver I also have category A and getting ready for C lorry driver this year

Not even from the UK but your videos has helped me with the stress of driving. Passed the exam 2 months ago and still watching every few days. Hope you are doing well!

Damn watching this makes me relive the fear during driving lessons and the final test. Especially since my teacher and my tester were cholerics who screamed at me for minutes for the slightest mistakes. I really feel with the driving students, it really is a different situation with an instructor next to you who watches over every little thing you do while you know what is at stake for you.

Sorry you had that experience. I failed three times, always on the same point (failing to give way at a roundabout). I got lucky on my fourth attempt as I had a different examiner and didn't go through the town like on previous attempts. I've passed an advanced driving course now, but I'd still question myself if I was to redo my driving exam. Hate exams!

​@@Locutus My only two mistakes were being a little close to another car while parking sideways into a gap and forgetting to release the handbrake when I took off after that. Everything else was 100% perfect and so he was forced to give me my license. After the test my teacher left the car, leaving me alone with the tester as if he knew what was gonna happen. Within the next 10 minutes he screamed at me and said for example that he doesn't even want to give me my license but people like me will lose it sooner or later anyways. I was an intimidated 17 year old teenager with depression who didn't know what to do. Nowadays I would have made sure he'd face consequences.

@@Locutus Not even if its life or death. The only time an instructor can scream is if you kill someone, then I think anyone would be screaming. If someone is screaming at you, you ain't learning anything, and logically you need to learn the most in a life or death scenario!

My instructor back in the day always thought rush hour tests could be a good shout because you spent plenty of time in traffic and could relax a bit. Sadly the test centre was in the sort of place where the main roads were rammed all day every day, but one left turn into a side street and there was no traffic at all. so that's where the manoeuvres and emergency stop could be done.

Not only now can we see why you should always check your mirrors, but we can also now see every time pin says: " The driver drifted lanes and didnt notice the vehicle approaching in the other lane." I’m an ex driving instructor, I used to tell my pupils all I’m giving you is knowledge, experience you gain on your own. When you pass your test all it means is you’ve reached the required standard to drive on your own unsupervised so your not suddenly as good as the traffic around you, they have driving experience you don’t. Why do you think insurance companies load up the premiums of newly qualified drivers it’s because your a greater risk of having an accident especially in the first year. You never stop learning. How many times have I heard bad drivers say, I’ve been driving years and never had an accident, my reply used to be but how many accidents have you caused.

My favourite comment about it is, "Now you've got the license to get practical experience to _become_ a good driver." Sure, some people here and there are better drivers right from the start (in terms of foresight, concentration, confidence, handling, judgement of situations, sense for vehicle proportions and behaviour, ...) than the average driver on the street, but they are rare. Some are better in one or two aspects, but most are just overally worse.

@@CrispyMuffin2 I'd say (this is just one person speaking,, though a professional truck driver doing 2000+km per week, with a _little_ backup from maybe half a dozen conversations I've had with others) that you should simply concentrate as best as you can on every aspect of driving. For the vast majority of people, at least _some_ routine and confidence will come over time, and you'll notice that you're doing some things automatically (whether it's shifting gears at the right time, or mirror observation, or moving your foot from the gas to the break, or estimating how long the next light might remain green, or...). It may just be one thing at first, but it'll come. Just keep checking your behaviour every now and then, to make sure you're actually doing the correct things as a routine 🙃

I'm the opposite. 11 years clean license, no bans, no points nothing. 2 years ago my car's engine went bang on a dual carriageway, no hard shoulder, completely unlit. I got as far away from the car as I could, but due to the overgrown bushes I was never more than 2-3 metres from the carriageway, eventually a police patrol came across me and coned it off with signs. They called national highways england out as the car had dumped oil across the carriageway. They turned up, cleared up the oil spill in about 10 minutes, spent 20 minutes chatting with the (quite attractive, female officer who was on her own) - and then left. A week later I get a letter in the post from my insurance company - they won't pay out for my car as it wasn't in an accident and it didn't catch fire, the engine was buggered and had a hole in the top of the block. It was worth between £10k and £13k and I ended up selling it to co-part as a non-runner for £4,000. I took a huge loss as a result. To rub it in, national highways england then claimed against my insurance for their time spent clearing up the spill. The letter was from my insurance company advising me of the claim against my insurance policy. I called my insurer and they said they'd look into it and I couldn't just pay it myself (National Highways were claiming £250 for literally 30 minutes "work"). Months later, I called my insurance company and they still hadn't settled the claim, I spoke with an advisor who said these claims often drag on for years, he said he had claims open from 3-4 years ago involving third parties and this wasn't uncommon. As a result eventually this was deemed an "at fault" claim because my engine went bang and leaked oil which had to be cleared. 1 fault claim. I used a stop gap car for around 10 months, the very end of that same year I bought a 6 year old BMW saloon car. Less than 3 months later, after i'd returned home and finished a night shift, parked my car outside my house, and was asleep in bed, the car was struck by a delivery driver, who delivered to my address 90 seconds later but simply put the parcel on the ground and walked off, he didn't knock on the door or ring the doorbell as they usually do. I only discovered the damage late that night, around 10PM when I went to walk to the local off license and noticed the car's front wheels were facing towards the kerb, which I thought odd as I always park with them in a straight line. Load of damage, headlight unit cracked, wing panel bent, bumper dented, tie/track rods were broken, suspension unit was broken and the steering unit also needed replacing and re-coding to the car. The car was in the garage for 1 month. When I collected my car I had to pay my excess of £550. My insurers, Tesco bank, looked into the claim and I provided some CCTV which shows the collision, and a witness statement from a neighbour who saw the same guy, and the same van deliver to him (and the driver DID actually knock on the door) literally 1 minute before he delivered to my address. As the registration of the vehicle was never captured, and the driver not traced, this was deemed another "at fault" claim. At the time of this incident my policy was costing £1,750 fully comp with a named driver, who'd been driving since 1977 on the policy. After this incident, and only having renewed my policy 2 months ago - the insurance went from £1,750 to £4,450 which was the cheapest quote by at least £250, the rest were £5k+ Two "at fault" claims within a 13 month period after 9 years on the road (before the first fault claim) without an "at fault" incident, no collisions, nothing. Arguably neither of those claims are my fault but as we all know the insurance industry in the UK is an absolute scam. I feel like i'm treading on eggshells now, if another driver hits my car and isn't traced, it would be a "third" "at fault" claim in a 5 year period, my NCB which was 10 years would be competely wiped out and i'd have to start from zero again, thanks to other people not being able to drive, not to mention i'd find it utterly impossible to obtain insurance, with the two fault claims it was hard enough, around 40% of the insurers I approached simply refused to do business because once the two "fault" claims were declared they decided I was too "high risk" despite the major collision (which cost Tesco bank £3,500 to repair) clearly being not my fault. Yes, I have a 3 litre BMW saloon, but it's an absolute mockery that a brand new driver can be insured for typically HALF or less than what I'm paying because other people can't drive and crash into my car. Oh, and for anyone saying "it's the car". I tried to get a quote on my parent's 2018 BMW X1 - it has no power at all and it's a 2 litre mini-SUV/4x4. About half the horsepower of my vehicle. Again, once fault claims were declared the absolute cheapest quote was £2,450 with a £1,000 excess. The next cheapest was £2,800 and the following majority of the quotes were around £3,000-£3,500. Still an absolute con.

Sorry - why do you want someone like that on the road? People who have the attitude of "it's not my fault" are an absolute drain on society, blaming everyone else for their own poor decisions.

Georgia seems to be deflecting responsibility frequently. I hope she improves her attitude before she is driving regularly. Good on her for doing this test and agreeing to be on camera though, and I wish her all the best. ❤️

Sometimes it's a reflection of the instructor. I failed twice over 14months worth of very regular lessons - atleast twice weekly. Years later I went with a different instructor.. Did 36 or so lessons in 3months and I passed.

@@ruj91 I did 2 to 3 weeks more practice with my tutor than average for 17 year olds back in 2019 when I got my license and it payed off in my only full test needed to be as there was only 3 minors (one of them the examiner thought I could’ve set off quicker at one junction but I was nervous and was being maybe too cautious). It was in a diesel Ford Fiesta build style from 2008 to 2017 before the tutor then replaced it with a slightly newer (still same build style) Petrol version

My dad knows someone who had never ever started their instructor's car because the instructor always left it running when picking him up and swapping seats. He then goes for his test, the car is off, he doesn't know how to start it and the examiner ends up asking what's going on. I know the guy in passing and it's a true story. Can't believe the instructor let that happen.

I passed 3yrs ago in an automatic. Took my manual test to upgrade my licence on march 7th and passed with 2 minors 😊

I started lessons in September 2020 and due to pandemic with restrictions coming in and out disrupting lessons , 4 cancelled tests due to covid/weather/unexplained reasons by the test centre , the massive backlogs of tests and 2 failed driving tests in wednesbury I eventually passed in Wolverhampton yesterday. It has been the worst time to learn how to drive and with the added pressure of not being able to get another test booked for at least 12 weeks it's making learner drivers crumble on their tests. Those saying oh I passed only having 10 lessons - good for you but it's a different time especially with how long you have you have to wait between tests if not passed first time. It doesn't help when people who haven't even had a driving lesson yet have booked their test therefore making the backlog worse but I suppose its the only way to get ahead of the game but still makes it harder for those who are more than ready for their tests.

I passed today with 3 faults at the 3rd attempt. I binged on your videos for weeks and they were of great help. Thank you!

I've been driving for 14 years now but i had a good struggle passing my test. I passed my theory test on my 3rd attempt, then my driving test on my 4th attempt. However, i am now so experienced due to perseverance, that i love driving all over the country whenever i get the opportunity & i am now an advanced driver looking to potentially become a driving instructor myself. Dont give up, keep going, you will get there. I don’t normally leave 3 comments on one video but this girl is shocking. She’s so argumentative at any feedback he’s giving - he’s the guy assessing you and very experienced, you pulled out in front of a car and then told someone else off for doing the same. When he told her how to be at a lower gear on hills, she argued that he was wrong. The longer she’s kept off the road the better because she’s got the attitude of thinking she’s a good driver when she isn’t and that’s very dangerous. The only accident I have ever had in 16 years of having a licence was a car that stopped at a roundabout where it was completely clear and I wasn’t expecting it so I hit them at about 5 mph. I had only had my licence a few months and it was my fault because I wasn’t able to completely stop in time - I do think they had a fault too for stopping when it wasn’t needed. It taught me a good lesson though and I’ve never had another accident - they were a lovely couple in their 80s (probably why they were driving so hesitantly) and the woman got out and gave me a hug because I was so upset about hitting them. They fixed their own bumper as it was just scuffed and that was that. You shouldn’t always be receptive to people giving you advice on a way this girl isn’t.

I will be forever thankful that I learned in an automatic first. It’s a lot easier when you’re just starting.. After finishing the video, I basically find the manual shifting and stalling more stressful than almost anything she did.

This video makes me nostalgic to my driving tests 30 years ago in Bedford. I passed and got my license after two tests, the first one I failed.

Imagine having to explain to someone that they do infact, need to be able to see out of cars windshield before driving.

I passed my test last week :D with no minors or no serious faults at all. Only thing i can say to her is hold the wheel at 9 and 3 positon because you have more grip on the wheel and can turn rotation more easily. She does need more hours behind the wheel from what i can tell but everyone learns at their own pace :D Goodluck to her in future lessons and her actual test much love

Me too, some of this was bum clenching and i'm not even in the car!!

One of the first lessons which was a dual lesson for me: first gear is for starting from a full stop or extremely slow speeds. At the same time it also was apparent to me: if you ever come to a full stop and intend to start soon, you should always switch to first gear. Noticed on one of the stall when she let the car past she didn't change the gear. So most of it is probably due to nerves and being unfamiliar with a manual, though if she trained on a manual after 40 hours that should not be acceptable. My instructor advised that I should get used to the gear shifting and what gear I am in being things I shouldn't even think about but rather have a feel for the car. The other pupil that instructor had was offered to switch to automatic because after several lessons in (I think we were supposed to be halfway through) she was still looking at the shift stick when changing gears, which was considered a fault where I drive. I noticed This girl do the same mistake so her instructors should have maybe tried drilling that more into her which in turn might alleviate a lot of her other issues like stalling. Or just have her switch to automatic and not be allowed to drive a manual if that is an option in the UK, there is no shame in that.

I think her driving position is all wrong. She's having to extend her left foot on tippy toes to depress the clutch fully .. which is why she's stalling. It may be an optical illusion but it also seems she's leant too far back. I'm wondering if she's learnt in an automatic?

@@zarabukhari6621 Make sure to stay calm and be relaxed I’d say. They aren’t but I’ve heard some can be and make sure they are ripping you off and you get a good one. For example, they always turn up late for your lesson or make you finish earlier.

Telling her how to sit properly in her seat so she can actually control the car first would be a good idea!!!! I'd have failed her on that before she'd even turned the car on!

I'm just happy I took my test in the Australian summer when it was dry and crunchy( not raining at all)

At 13:40 why did she just stare at Pin and not say anything 😭😭😂

You can see that she's flexing her left ankle quite a lot to push that clutch pedal. That tells me that her seat isn't forward enough. Combined with her habit of keeping the clutch down instead of switching to neutral, it's going to tire out the muscles and make it difficult to push the clutch pedal fully. I think that made the stalling worse.

Hi, I had my driving test today at 7:13 in the morning and I passed with 1 Minor and 17 hours of lessons. I think what helped is the fact that I would watch your videos whenever they came out and would try and learn as much as I can.

@@laremabella there's no legally required amount of lessons or hours. How many lessons you need will depend on how quickly you learn, and then you either pass your test or fail.

The last Junction even confuses me, I have passed my test over 20 years ago, and have been driving all of that time. Luckily I do not have many Junctions like this in North Wales.

I'm doing my test in around 8-9 hours (4:15PM), I love watching these videos because they remind me about stuff to watch for in my upcoming test. And no-offence😂, these give me confidence that I won't do bad because of the faults these drivers take, sorry. 😂

I passed first time after 11 hours lessons! Testament to my amazing instructor, RIP John Bunce.

She's more concerned about where cameras are in the car instead of driving and their safety 🤣

I caught a lot of narcissistic traits from her in all honesty. She didn't like hearing anything bad about her (even critiques that are going be helpful that any1 should be able to handle and take). She told him "I'm a better driver than she is" about the driver in the white car so she already sees herself as being better than others and kept digging for compliments. Idk, felt like she definitely was more focused on the cameras and attention. Not good.
