We have done all your lessons, some several times. Our quality of life has improved thanks to your lessons. Also has improved our Taichi & Qigong by having more relaxed joints and knowledge of counterbalance. We are 74 & 81. We practice getting up & down from the floor just because it’s fun. THANKS to you. You are a Treasure.

I repeat this lesson every few months. Each time I discover more ease and a better sense of getting different body parts connected. Thank you for demonstrating how to get the right arm higher - I could move my right arm and left leg separately, and that got me curious how to connect them, so I explored a bit and found some of that diagonal pathway. The right shoulder is now organized better with my ribs. I imagine someday that pathway all the way to the opposite hip will become clear as well. What an interesting exploration!

Dear Liza, glad to receive your message :-) Good to know that my videos are useful in Hungary. However, I believe the words are crucially important. I created the videos to make it easier for people to find my work, and to practice at home alone. To translate words into movement is an internal process, something wonderful, and at the core of this method. I don't know if copying from visuals actually has the same benefits at all. Maybe, as a start, subtitles would be good? Here is a link to contribute subtitles: kzread.info_video?v=nIE2WMMk-hM&ref=share

I can't agree that it stops being a learning experience if you show how a movement is accomplished. What's gained if it's not understood? I personally think that that idea is used counter-productively by lots of Feldenkrais practitioners. It is a much more effective learning experience to be given the key and then being able to use it (often with delight), and to see how it unlocks other movements that may not have been really understood before either. Thank you!

There's a tool for getting funded, just go to patreon.com. Your followers can then sponsor you, pledging small amounts every time you post a video. It has been working well for some other people I follow. As for Noguchi San, I also enjoy his videos, but then there is the languires barrier. One of the most interesting is the fist rolling in different positions, hard to do at home because it has no sound I. English, French, or other western language. I hope you do that lesson some time.

I don't think such a "condition" can be fixed without a plant based diet (no processed foods, no plant oils - no oil, not even olive oil). Honestly, a plant based diet will heal you inside out and remove most of your ailments. But I understand that it's very difficult to transition to such a healthy lifestyle without proper information. May I recommend this lecture for a start: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoyKyJVvntrYkdo.html (there are hundreds of lectures like this on KZread by e.g. Dr. McDougall, Dr. Greger, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Colin Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jeff Novick etc etc etc).

Love this video! You love what you do and that is infectious! So, you are bringing the viewers attention to the cause and effect relationship in the learning process? So useful for developing ourselves and being ready with gravity. last night at the aikido practice, my teacher taught me... I was under the impression that I could do an adequate and improving supported fall, but...the half crippled old man who is my teacher moves very softly and without force but some crazy integrated power and it was difficult to "receive". I fell badly, wasn't able to protect the back of my head :-( What was interesting to me is that when I got up from that I didn't internally freak out, I chose to visualise the cohesive, relatable, whole body direction away from what you refer to here as fear contraction, and FMA refers to "shortening the stature" and now my neck isn't felling injured. Macro learning and micro learning with whole body movement is so useful/integral to martial practice.

This was a lot of fun and I hope to figure out how to get up from the floor like you did at the beginning of the lesson. I was able to find the rolling movement while reaching with the hand on the right side, but am having trouble on the left. My left side is the trouble one with the glutes, hip, etc. and I suspect this is an important piece of the puzzle for me to restore function on that side. Is there another lesson that might help me with finding this movement, or should i just keep doing it on the right side and trying to figure it out by paying close attention to what i'm doing on that side? It's really amazing how different the two sides are in this lesson, but it's okay with the leg on both sides. Thank you!!

Oh, yes. I will think of all those things. I came a little closer after working on it some more last night. I didn't do the rolling into deep lesson, because I did that lesson from the lesson of the month on flowingbody.com a while ago. I think that really helped me do this lesson. So, I will go ahead and do the rolling into deep now. Thank you so much for your help. I tell people you are my therapist, and in this long journey of restoring proper movement on my own it is so encouraging feel that I have your support. If you ever come to the U.S., I hope to be able to meet you and thank you in person : ) On another note, I wasn't even thinking about the shoulder benefit aspect of the lesson, but this morning when I wiped the tiles of my shower like I always do, without thinking, I reached all the way to the top easily, which is about 8 or more inches higher than I usually do! and with no stretching involved! (I hate stretching.)

I am pretty sure I heard you say not to push off with your foot. Are you saying that by just reaching, without using leg muscles, you can roll onto your side? Just curious because I can’t. I have to push off with my foot, so I was wondering if I should keep trying this until I can.

think of it like an extension movement, like babies push their head backwards and arch their backs, but instead of a bridge it’s a roll. you can use your legs in various ways

I just found this and want to know more ... I have osteoarthritis (coxarthrosis) and the solution acc. to official medicine is operation, but I don't want that... How do you suggest going through your lessons? Which is first one, then what? One each day or repeat the first one several times before moving on, etc.? Or ... can you enlighten about that? Thanks a lot for your work

Hi, what I teach is not alternative medicine. But by all means, give it a go. I suggest starting with my "Getting Better Day By Day" course here for free on KZread, it's 9 movement lessons for beginners. There's also a workbook for purchase. Then continue with any video you like. I have plenty of free lessons here on KZread. Go gentle into those lessons. You might find it helpful also purchasing "My Feldenkrais Book" to learn more about how to work with these movement sequences. Additionally, if you haven't already done so, I do suggest to consider the advice of the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine: www.pcrm.org/health/health-topics/foods-and-arthritis Good luck!

answer to E White by Tania, Feldenkrais practitioner: You are right, it doesn't stop being A learning experience if a movement is shown, one can then play around with it and make it one's own. So, yes, it can then become a learning experience just as many other experiences in life can be learning experiences. BUT the learning experience that the Feldenkrais method deals with is the one taking place WHILE EXPLORING. It's NOT THE PROPOSED MOVEMENT IN ITSELF THAT COUNTS (in the F. Method), it's WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR WHOLE SYSTEM (NEUROMUSCULAR, EMOTIONAL...) WHILE YOU'RE DOING IT THAT COUNTS. The movements themselves, those done in a lesson are a MEANS, not a goal. THEN, once one has explored enough without model, then it can sometimes be OK to watch someone else because at that point, one has one's own reference to compare with. And THEN, of course, one's everyday movements and gestures can get better from the experience of different lessons. But you are right, this idea is often misunderstood (including sometimes amongst certified practitioners).

Tania Kraus An interesting conversation .I found the video of how the baby rolls to be the experience affirmed. I missed this counterbalancing feeling as awareness off the ground due to *fear* of falling is far more habitual and harder to feel. Finding the personal experience (connaissance )in opposition to( savoir) which in my case took both means freed my head an now the movements seem integrated an feeling an thinking align. Natural movement experienced an heeded despite the medium .

I loved the video thanks. I have just one constructive observation. I noticed that I am trying to follow the movement and then you interrumpt yourself by talking and I have to stop too. It would be helpful to see the movement you are proposing us to try at least once so we can practice while you talk. Thank you very much.

Hi Ana, thank you for your feedback. I usually try to talk first, and then chime in with the movements - it's an important part of this method (part of the pedagogy) that students find the movements within themselves, rather than copying from a visual. In my videos it happens quite a bit that this process is not very clear or gets mixed up… too many things to watch at once (audio recording, is camera in focus, filming angle, lighting + outside noises, getting the movement sequence in the right order, my verbal phrasing and articulation, pacing, pauses, my own movements...)

  • @ThePrincesafania

    @ThePrincesafania

Thank you. I understand how the method works. I don't mean doing the movement before explaining it. I meant the times you interrumpt yourself while thinking out loud that stops the continuity of the movement in the midddle of the explanation. Any way is just an observation I don't mean to be obseting. I just thought it would help me in the process of following your lead. Grat video any way, thank you very much for your answer.
