Learn Trumpet Lip Slurs - 5 Tips To Help You Learn To Play Trumpet Easier

Learn trumpet lip slurs the simple way. In this video I'll share 5 tips to help you learn to play trumpet easier.
Lip slurs can be one of the more challenging concepts to learn on trumpet but they don't need to be that way. I believe one reason that trumpet players have a hard time with slurs, at first, is because they are focused too much on the trumpet itself. One thing that I like to remind people about is the fact that when we learn to control our bodies better, in regard to playing trumpet, then the trumpet will sound better and do the things we want it to do. Learning to play lip slurs is no exception.
One tip that I want to share with you is to keep things natural. When you inhale and exhale, keep it natural. In other words, don't force the issue. It's okay to be deliberate but it's not okay to force the issue. The trumpet tends to shut down when we force the issue. So if you want to play lip slurs easier then focus on the body and keep things natural.

Playing trumpet is all about controlling your wind, tongue, and coordinating movement between the two. Be patient and keep things natural as possible.

Another great video, awesome tips. One thing that has helped me a lot is to take it easy with my air. Like most people, I used to over blow and then wonder why my endurance was so poor. Then I discovered that less is more and quickly gained notes in the upper register I could only dream of before. Cheers!

Great video thanks. It made me stop and think about what's going on inside my mouth and I love the concept.... Your body is the instrument....control your body and the trumpet will sound like you want it to. I'm almost playing the trumpet secondary... As a singer also that makes perfect sense. Happy Christmas!

Hi Martin! Yes, I am the instrument! The trumpet should magnify what we have in our heart and hear in our head. I'm glad that you are a singer because singers make the best musicians! Merry Christmas!
