    Great video. amongst WW2 fighters, how unusual was it to have landing gear controls on the left without any illumination ?

  • @RequiemsACTL

    @RequiemsACTL

    There is illumination on that landing gear and flaps panel nearby. When gear extends you'll see green and retracted is red. The airplane wasnt powered up when I wentn through the cockpit initially so you couldn't see that aspect.

    In D9 do I only turn on boost at 100% throttle or does it have effect below that? Could you do a tutorial on how to use the boost to get maximum effect in combat without blowing up engine?

  • @RequiemsACTL

    @RequiemsACTL

    5 жыл бұрын

    You can turn on boost whenever you want, but the idea behind the MW-50 system is to prevent engine detonation (and some cooling) at higher manifold pressures than normal. You could use it without maximum throttle but that would defeat the purpose of it as you would be wasting the volume of MW-50 you have by using in a power region that doesn't require detonation prevention. Long story short...if you're at full throttle and 1.7ATA and you need more power, add in the MW-50 boost.

    The H-stab trim, is it set at 1.5+ by default? I thought that over the 3 o'clock it's on a nose down attitude and bellow the 3 o'clock it's on nose up attitude (so on the + side)

  • @RequiemsACTL

    @RequiemsACTL

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yeah I believe that +1.5 is the default position when you load into the airplane and your thoughts regarding on the nose attitude are correct too. If you trim nose down the needle will go up into the + region (above 3 o'clock), while trimming nose up will go down into the - region (below 3 o'clock).

    @@RequiemsACTL I just started flying the Dora tonight, and so far I'm unable to adjust the trim at all... Any idea what I could be missing? The standard elevator trim axis control I have mapped to the trim hat on my joystick works for all other aircraft but doesn't work in the Dora. Is there a specific command for the horizontal stab trim I'm missing? Thanks!

    I have concerns about the power ratings. All power charts i have ever seen state 3000 RPM as combat power and 2700 RPM as max continuous for Jumo 213 A/C, even with improved manifold pressure setting as used in IL2. You can run the engine with 3250 RPM for half an hour(@1.5-1.7ata), which is the same crankshaft speed as take off and war emergency power setting. In my opinion it didn't make sense that the RPM level from combat up to war emergency power is always the same. I don't know any other piston engine which is able to do so. I think the Dev. Guy's make a mistake in misunderstanding the Jumo 213 power charts. Don't get me wrong, in my opinion IL 2 is the best air combat simulator, but such little things need to be improved.....
