In this video, Levy Rosman did not, in fact, neglect the stare. He purposefully removed it to make the statement that all things are finite in this universe, and we should treasure the things we have and the people we love dearly. I give this statement a 10/10 in lieu of the usual stare score

You probably won't see this Levy, but I'm a huge fan of your videos! I'm actually the head instructor at my school's chess club, and my students love you. If you ever have the time, or need an opponent for a video like this, I'd be happy to play! My kids would go berserk and I think they would all pay attention for once, lol. True. This line shouldn't be played if your opponent has studied it. And which you can't know before getting a game, so these lines shouldn't be played at all beyond a level of 1000-1100. Ofcourse you can play it if you want to stay noobie forever

I use the vienna as well and thought the same thing. Only difference is when I play with black I usually do a queens side gambit instead but I'm going to try this instead.

Very cool. Good to see some live games with this. I have been watching Igor Smirnov's videos on this opening for the past two days on repeat. There are some nasty nasty traps beyond what you covered here. Very happy to find this gambit for both the italian, and the ruy lopez.
Love your Content Levy! You have helped me so much with learning chess !
I've been playing the Rousseau gambit for a while now and it is by far my favorite one
Again, I love when you do these videos. Glad you started doing them again. Your teaching style is great!
This video is perfectly timed, I wanted to prep this a couple of days ago and now we have the perfect video!
I seriously can't thank you enough for this video. I've been looking for an opening for the black side for like a week now since I saw that I always win in white but rarely win when I'm black. Good thing you made this video and I'll be happy to memorize the lines 😂

Great information Levy! Thank you!
Thank you very much for making another educational chess video - I love it!
I really like the structure of this video in particular. The intro, the breakdown, and seeing it in action. GC is a boss.
I started playing chess few months ago, knew how pieces move since I was a kid, but never really got into it. I started just playing and it was terrible. And just when I was about to give up thinking it’s just impossible to win Levy just pops out in youtube. And here I am, going from 300 elo to 580 in last two weeks. Thank you Levy for theese incredible lessons!

Fifty years ago I earned a USCF rating of 1650, but haven't played tournament chess since. I really enjoy your videos and your humor. Learned a lot from you and scraped off some rust. THANX👍
You solved a centuries old game that couldn't be solved for hundreds of years, I clicked on a Gotham Chess video at under 10k views, so I think we are in the same league.
OG fans will recognize this opening where we saw it for the first time. It was on a guess the elo episode where black was playing a reverse Vienna Gambit and Levy was pretty mad at that saying “chess doesnt work like that” 😭😂😂

Man next video like this include the Goring Gambit for white. It’s a dynamic opening that’s very high risk high reward and has lots of traps. Great video btw
In case anyone wants to play something similar against the Spanish, that f5 variation is called the Schliemann and it's what IM Andras Toth recommends in his beginner's E4-E5 repertoire on Chessable. There's also an Eric Rosen youtube video on it. Pretty spicy stuff.

The great thing about the Schliemann is it's straightforward. I once tried it in an online simul vs an IM. Like move 9 he says something like "I think Qe2 is good for White here but I don't remember why", which I took as a validation of my opening play having been out of book since move 4.

Very nice to finally have this covered. I was suprised though that you didn't mention all the fun you can achieve by playing 4 ... Bc5, an actually achievable way of getting into the very fun lucchini gambit position. (see eric rosen's video for example: sac everything and still win)

Wow, I can't believe it! On this historic day, the 9th of February 2023, Levy Rosman (GothamChess) solved chess. What an accomplishment!
I saw this opening once somewhere, and I immediately loved it

Love title, Solved Chess, computational science thanks you! Looks a bit like the lesser known: n = n p ... now for that OTHER computation question ;-) Thanks for the vids and hard work Levy!!!
You should do a video on the nimzowitsch larsen attack, I discovered it while trying an opposite King's Indian hitting the castled king (if they do castle short) and simply fianchetto the other bishop hitting the rook
I littaraly figured this out and started playing this at school today right before this came out
Can you make a video on the Pirc defence. Been watching your vids for a while and want to see your analysis
Been playing this opening all day its definitely good fun.. got me alot of points
It really was an amazing opening for black for a play I might try it if I happen to encounter them.
This is one of my favorite openings against 1e4! I win most of my games against lower and higher rated players. There is a phenomenal line that ends the game quickly with this if they move queen to D2 to pin the pawn. You're spot on - first is black queen to e2 blocking the pin, wht knight goes back to g1, then black moves knight to f3 to protect the check....then if they try to attack the pawn on e4 by going pawn to d3, move the other knight to D5 attacking the queen, queen will move back to d8 and you just sac the knight and take the pawn on f7, if they take it with the queen, they lose the queen and the game in 2. :) Great vid! Thx for covering this opening - you showed me a cool variation I never saw (pawn to b5). Going to give it a go next time I can.
I like how levy is so chill when the bar shows that the position is -3 for black :D
I’m a fairly new chess student, but want to make a point about bishop to G5. Pinning knights and taking is a (slight) sac for the sake of disrupting pawns. Blacks king side pawns were whacked at the open by pawn to F5 so the bishop sac is not necessary. Maybe the bishop would have been more useful on E3? Or a fianchetto since the light square bishop is also aimed at black’s king side and it’s really up to white whether the center gets opened. Idk.
I played this opening couple of times based on a previous video tht you made.....its a good opening only if black knows what he's doing...some off beat moves by white can split black apart......also i remember a game of Aronian vs awonder....i loved tht recap...and sometimes i use it as white.......
Levy taking gambits that I play and no one knows make my prep completely unusual
Bro, i am not subscribed for that long, but you are like a quality Video machine. Everyday you post a new Video with interesting Topics. Just amazed how deep you can loose yourself in Chess. Thanks for your Videos. Big Fan
I used to play the Rousseau gambit a lot and after doing some analysis I found a variation where white is fine after taking The maves are e4 e5, Nf3 Nc6, Bc4 f5, exf5 e4, Nd4!! If you take the knight ...Nxd4, Qh5+ if ...kh2, Qf7+ and you are losing if g6 then ... fxg6, Nf6 g7+, Nxh5 gxh8=Q and you are down an exchange
Thanks for another solid opening with black.
