For an English speaker, hearing that the Russian Language has a relatively loose word order sounds good initially, until you find out that there's something in Russian called cases (six of them!). Cases makes the language extremely difficult to learn; all those special word endings everywhere. To the amusement of native speakers, you'll be saying things like, " the sandwich ate me", and worse.

77777774444 I always look at cases just like they're prepositions (to, from, by, for, etc)... It's just they're attached to the word. Is this wrong? Because I don't find it difficult that way

In Russian "Mice are eaten by cats". You can say "Cats eat mice" or "Mice are eaten by cats". The feature is in grammatical case.
I just recovered from the nightmare known as (cases) as I could finally master it in German, and now to find it also in Russian with even 6 cases😭 ..

We actually see the word order reversed in literature sometimes with punctuation. For example: mice, ate the cats
Double negatives, yes. Двойное отрицание -- это фича (feature) русского языка.

I've just started learning russian and the pronunciation is so much harder than any language I've learned (Spanish Chinese Indonesian) does the pronunciation get easier as time goes on because every word takes me 5 minutes just to sound out I think I may have to quit.

There are many sounds which are different from sounds in other languages, you should get used to it.
But how do we know if the speaker actually refers to "mice eat cats" rather than "cats eat mice"?
@user-hx6co1ud4z
7 жыл бұрын
Russian has the case system for that) "Cats eat mice"=Кошки едят мышей. "Mice eats cats"=Мыши едят кошек. Compare "мышей/мыши", "кошки/кошек". Also we can say "Кошки мышей едят", "Мышей кошки едят" etc. ("Едят кошки мышей"). But you not always can change the word order, of course ahahaha)
@k-tsov346

"cats eat mice" is "мышей едят кошки" "mice eat cats" is "мыши едят кошек" The endings are different. Object in Accusative case. Subject in Nominative case.

I want the cases in russian language..
So Russian grammar is almost same as Arabic grammar
Using word order to manipulate meaning is so much easier than a case system. Sad!
