Learn Persian / Farsi: 1 - How to Greet People and Ask How They're Doing (Conversational Lesson)
Lesson guide available at: www.chaiandconversation.com/s...
Learn how to greet people and ask how they're doing, in Persian! You will also learn how to answer back when asked how you're doing.
The first thing you learn when learning any language is how to say hello.
In Persian, 'hello' is “Salam.”
And, 'how are you' is “chetor-ee.”
I would like to note here that in Persian, as in French, Spanish and many other languages, there is an informal and formal way of speaking. Formal is used only when speaking to people you don’t know very well, or people who are older than you. Because we’re trying to learn conversational and casual speaking, for today we’re going to be using informal speech.
The lesson follows lesson 1 of Chai and Conversation- check out the free podcast and all the supplemental learning materials on the website.

That’s cool! I’m interested in learning Farsi. I know a little bit of Arabic, and people, especially if they’re from the Middle East, are amazed that I know even just a few greetings & expressions.
I am SO glad I found you! I was just about to give up on Farsi, You've answered my prayers and encouraged me to keep going. I like how Matt Is learning along with us too. Ugh this is so good.
