This reading and writing lesson is one part of our complete Persian language course. Lessons 1-25 of reading and writing are available on our website (www.chaiandconversation.com/r.... By the end of the course, you will be able to read and write in the Persian language. We also have over 80 lessons that teach you conversational Persian (www.chaiandconversation.com/l.... In those lessons, we use phonetic English spelling, so you don't have to be able to read and write Persian before learning to speak it conversationally!
In this introductory Persian reading and writing lesson, we go over the Persian alphabet and what makes it unique. For instance, you may know that there are 32 letters in the Persian alphabet, but did you know that 4 of those letters exist in Persian ONLY, and don't appear in any other language alphabet? We'll also go over the 6 vowels of the Persian language. While 3 of those vowels appear as letters of the alphabet, 3 others are simply accents. When you're first learning to read and write Persian, the accents will be provided for you. However, as you become more familiar with written Persian, accents will no longer be provided- you will have to 'guess' which accents are associated with the letters based on the context of the word.

Not to interfere but I think you need to have be writing on a line at this stage. I can imagine many foreigners getting confused where the base line is and where the letters should be in relation to it

I'm Persian and my American boyfriend found this, I've been sitting and watching it from the very beginning till the end and I just can't get enough of it. It's everything I wish my first grade teacher had taught me

My wife is Persian and her parents and I sometimes struggle to speak. I found your channel wanting to learn Persian to better communicate with my wife’s family AND when we have kids be able to help pass the culture into them… won’t hurt being able to talk about stuff in front of others without them knowing what we are talking about!
I am fascinated by persian/farsi. I've learnt French and Spanish but I plan to spend some time with this amazing language.
im a filipina, got married to a british iranian husband, he has a moderate farsi and can't read persian alphabet either, so i decided to learn it myself and this video is awesome, been listening it whole day and i learned "aA" & "bB" in writing. shown it to my husband🤩 voila!! hopefully by the end of the month i will learn more
I started learning Farsi one month ago, and i was so stressed because i did not found a really compelling method for some time. But your guide with the guide created by the University of Austin are some of the best guides out there to learn farsi. Thank you, thank you very much!

she's so beautiful😍 thanks teacher❤️
This is how I quickly learned how to read Japanese. First I learned the main vowels, and after that it was a breeze repeating all the consonants with the vowels. I wish you had a workbook or something. Repetition is key to retaining the information. Repeat, the vowels until you have memorized them. Then repeat them with consonants aleph be or de and so on. I am Persian and Farsi was my first language, but I never learned how to read it or write it, and it is so mind-boggling now because on one hand, I am so familiar with the language on the other hand learning to read it feels like I am learning an alien language. It makes my brain hurt.😊

I've also married an Iranian. She can speak Persian but not like her parents. My wife was born in Iran but moved to Germany when she was 1-2 yrs old. Unfortunately, she can't help me with the alphabet because she can't read or write nor does she know the alphabet. I've decided recently to learn to read, write and speak but it's rather difficult to learn the alphabet and then the medial and the final form. To say in short, I'm heading a hard time right now.

Going to be trying out your program as a crash course to get me prepared for DLI, if it works well for me I'll be doing my best to let my supervisors know so that hopefully they can incorporate your program into an introductory phase for people awaiting classes like myself (have over a month before classes start). I'm not an expert linguist yet but I'm aiming to be and from what I've gathered so far, this seems to be a very beneficial program you have. Definitely appreciate the content.

Please help for accent َ how it is pronounced exactly
im confused as in most languages the name of the letter is the same as the sound of the letter in a way...doesn't learning the name of the letter help with sound learning down the road?

I'm learning persian and probably not. In Russian the i with a line in it is called I kratkoe. But you don't need to know that. I presume its the same here.
Is this similar to Dari? I am trying to find good videos on Dari, and I really like how you teach, but I don't know if it is similar to Dari.

سلام دوست عزیز.شما خیلی عالی هستین.من یک سوال دارم.
will you teach me?
Is it easy?
I am confused :( i am reading "complete persian (modern persian/farsi)" by Teach Yourself and they mention there are no capital letters ?

Farsi is very easy so you can learn it🥲💕 فارسی خیلی راحته پس میتونی یادش بگیری😄
Why do you type 'oo' instead of 'u' and 'ee' instead of 'i' ?
@chai_and_conversation

it aligns more with the phonetics
I’m confused because you pronounce Alef as ahhh but then when you say the word “ab” for water you pronounce it ahhb but you put an accent over the “A” as if it makes the sound of “A”
@sarasadr4904
2 жыл бұрын
Alef is one of the few letters in the alphabet that has has a name that differs in pronunciation from the way it is actually read in a word. Like the letter O in Pot or Undo or Other; the letter O in these words doesn't sound like the way its name is... I don't know if that explanation helps :)
احساس میکنم اومدم پیش دبستانی (:
Who else are also joining the boot camp?
You are not correct when you say that four letters in Persian do not occur anywhere else. Urdu has all letters from Farsi and more (a total of 39 letters)
I thought the 1st letter of the alphabet was "Alef" ?
