I’ve just bought this and the concepts have massively changed the game for me - yes I’m not taking backs and subbing, but I’m getting subbed nowhere near as much as im thinking about the right things. Thanks Jordan
Hang in there Glen! He looks exactly like me in the beginning: smiling and wondering what the hell is happening 😂

I’m 9 months in and I’m getting my ass kicked all the time. I’ve just decided that I’m going to stick with it and I stopped caring about how I feel or look and I just want to improve. This video is so YUGE, it’s everything I need to focus on.

@@senecaturnpike9179 Exactly, that's the right attitude to have. I used to be super competitive in sports, but I've really dialed back. I'm doing BJJ to learn self-defense, stay in shape, and socialize with people. Almost quit in the first month because I was getting wrecked all the time, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Each day I'm just going through the motions and focusing on the basics when I roll.

@@paprika5487 my cousin is one of the best bjj players on earth, and so I put way too much pressure on myself. I got my ass whooped about 100x and decided, ok no one expects anything from me, now I can just try to figure this out like everyone else lol. Sometimes when our worst fears happen, (at least for me) I thought, ok…. The world didn’t end, it wasn’t that bad. Then I was able to just focus on learning. I’m still getting beat up and I can’t see when that’s going to end and I’ve made peace with it. I’m 37 years old, and I leave a better man every time.

In 6yrs you'll be saying the same thing. Welcome to BJJ.😁
For being a new white belt Glen (sp?) is doing pretty good! No crazy spazzing or death grip+twist type of stuff. He's making the mistakes you'd expect to see but he has control and isn't panicking. Actually nice to see. I don't even know how many times I've had a white belt panic and grab two of my fingers and twist them to "just breaking your grips bro". Thanks for the video!
I love that you incorporate safety details in each video. Great work! A lot of Etiquette and good Jiu Jitsu Manner has been learned from these types of videos and podcast

Thank you, I really appreciate that! Ya, I always try to share more than "just" the technique. I want people to become the best that they can be at BJJ and that takes more than just knowing how to apply techniques 🙂

That's the plan! 3 more months and I will :)
You gave some advice around the two minute 30 second mark, and I think it’s really important advice that is, unfortunately, ignored or unknown by so many people in the jiujitsu community. Don’t start on your knees. I don’t know how it came to be a thing in jiujitsu, but it’s so silly. Maybe it’s because BJJ practitioners are often unfamiliar with takedowns and operate under the incorrect belief that there’s no way to safely practice takedowns. As always, excellent instruction and content. Thanks for taking the time.

These videos are so helpful! It really gives us beginners a clear idea of what we tend to do wrong and how to address our bad habits. Great work!

These have been very reassuring. It's hard to not get in your head, especially after eating lots of armbars. These videos help to stay positive and realize that I'm going through a lot of the same mistakes as other white belts. Thanks for sharing these!

I many times get submitted with kimuras although initially, I kept my elbows tucked in and close to my chest but my training partner is somehow always able to isolate my arm with both his hands. I don't know if it's due to my weak brachialis muscles or something fundamentally wrong with my defense. I like to hear some advice/critique on this.
