Leap the Dips POV | Lakemont Park - World's Oldest Operating Roller Coaster

Leap the Dips at Altoona, PA's Lakemont Park is the oldest operating roller coaster in the entire world! First opened in 1902, this side-friction coaster is the last of its kind, still standing and operating thanks to decades of support from enthusiasts and the local community. It might not look like much at first glance, but this coaster provides a truly unique ride experience that's absolutely worth visiting the park for, and it still manages to have a surprising amount of airtime! This piece of coaster history has a fascinating history of its own that's worth looking into, but for now, here's my POV of my first ride on Leap the Dips, as well as a few off-ride shots.

That ride could literally put me to sleep. It's like a Sunday drive. It's so relaxing I could go again and again by myself...just to get shut-eye.

It's such a cool piece of history. The park itself is more of a community entertainment center than an amusement park now, but thankfully they kept their main two coasters.

@@funcamp_ltd. Apparently Horseshoe Curve is around there and is historical for engineering to get trains through PA.

I believe this is the very first version of a wild mouse. I could sleep on this and that's a compliment. So much ASMR.

Um no you can't. That 10ft drop at the end is terrifying especially in the back

That's smart. Lakemont is known to close one or both of their main coasters randomly depending on the day. On the day this was recorded, Skyliner was closed, so I'll have to go back to ride that one.

@@RampagingRex Thanks. I live 5 hours away. I’ll totally go just for this classic coaster, but it’s just gotta be open when I go. Boulder Dash closed randomly on the day I drive up four hours to go.

If I was five and I went there and this was my very first real rollercoaster, I wouldn't complain. I'm autistic and this would have been perfect. It's light, it's gentle, it's classic. I still want to ride it.
