I'm yet to meet one single person who knows how to pronounce Geberit! A fiver for the washer is a bargain, it's 30 quid for the charcoal filter (or a tenner for a big bag of fish tank active charcoal) and the cleaning solutions that they insist you *_MUST_* (yeah, right) use are extortionately priced. Now I know what to do if I ever have a blistered ring, too. 😳 Apart from that, we've been happy with our -sherberit- Geberit in the few years we've had it, especially during lockdowns when we got to say "oh, there's a loo-roll shortage, is there? We couldn't know, we no longer poop in the stone-age" /Mrs -Bucket- Bouquet. This video deserves eight hundred and eleventynine bonus likes for the sheer amount of innuendo it contains. 👍👍👍

It is a weird thing that happens to the ring. Sorry I kind of know that I'm not supposed to entertain my self but I couldn't help it... Thanlks for watching.

Mate, you seriously don't know how much I appreciate this. I didn't know what the problem was, I was about to call a plumber and my water bill pretty much doubled last quarter because of the leak. I really appreciate you taking the time to upload this, you have genuinely saved me.

This video just sorted a very annoying ongoing leak. Saved me a fair few quid on a callout or new flush valve! Thought I’d give this a go first, and the seal was full of water blisters. All popped, seems to be holding a seal. Thanks for making this video 👍

You are welcome. They do seem OK after the outer skin of the washer is punctured. I bought a few spares but haven't been called in to fit any of them yet.

Thanks mate, exactly the problem I was having with my toilet cistern here, very slowly leak and a high water bill. Solved and saved me buying the slightly overpriced part and a 20 km return drive to the plumbing shop...

Great job.. Shouldn't be necessary if they just made a simple silicone washer... It is made from the wrong material -- one has to wonder if it is deliberate to generate more sales....

Overhauled the my whole damn Geberit, removed both float and cistern mechanism. Looked at that seal and it looked ok but I didn't see the tiny blisters. Finally removed AGAIN and fixed. Thank you for video. Gerebit 816.418.00.1 is part if you need new ones.

Interesting, sure as ...sugar, honey, ice and tea, for the last couple of weeks I'd be getting little dribbles and the refill valve going off now and then at all hours. Drove me batty in my apartment. In my case, the seal was bowed out rather than flat, there was one tiny blister but for now I settled on cleaning it all down along with the cistern seal face and inverted the seal ring so it presses down more firmly. Took me a while to find what kind of flusher it was outside of a Geberit, no branding / model stamped next to the various 'made from abs' this and 'complies with standards that' found all over the parts. Thumbs up for the tip.

@@razenby thus far, jobs a good'un. Dealt with leaky seals in the past at old apartment (old school hot/cold taps in shower) till flatmate wrenched taps off tight, tearing soft seal domes. More annoying is the loo has a basic shut off valve, but it literally does nothing. So glad apartment water mains uses an industrial ball valve, 90° and you KNOW it's locked out.

My bog has the dual flush double button, but there is no washer on it at all. I live in a council house, do you think they are short changing me by missing out the washer. When they fitted the loo it did trickle down the pan, i fondled the mechanism and i healed it lol. Or frightened it :-D

I prefer the old siphon pump type - higher flow rate to shift difficult customers and you occasionally got a good workout pumping the handle. This is definitely intended for a petite lady's boudoir..

@@razenby I liked the old cast iron bell type, pull the chain at a rapid pace and the bell vaccume lifted the water above the exit tube. An old idea but bloody reliable :-D And a "Ball Cock" Snigger :) to control the water fill level. Almost nothing to go wrong.

Hmm, I personally have nothing to complain about Geberit. They have worked flawlessly in both bathrooms for over 13 years to now and continue to work. No, I am not sponsored, I bought with my own money and installed myself.

Good job. I maintain 13 cisterns In Reading with this valve and they all get blisters. Maybe there is something in the water in that attacks silicone!!! Should we be alarmed?

That’s what happens if you’re promiscuous and running around on Friday night. You get blisters on your ring Maybe a bit of that thick dielectric silicone grease would keep those blisters sealed enough so that they don’t fill up again? Just an idea. My aunt got one of those two button toilets and I swear the mechanism has like 30 little plastic parts up in the tank and it’s a right pain in the ass if anything goes wrong. Not to mention if you plunge it too hard it sends shit up into the tank somehow. Not a fan I have to say.

Also by the time I realized what was happening and that the top tank was being corrupted it was so nasty I took it outside and hit it with the hose and ended up putting it in my ultrasonic bath normally use for cleaning parts, circuit boards, mechanical watches and stuff like that. I wasn’t about to take apart those 30 little plastic pieces and get shit all in my fingernails. So a quick bath in the ultrasonic got everything like new in the loud me to just pop it back in. Just hope and pray that your plumber doesn’t put the wax seal upside down like he did on her toilet. That was a lot of fun to fix. Jesus what’s this world coming to …..every time I take the lid off the tank I do the Catholic crucifix symbol on my chest because I never know when I’ll find Didn’t want clients complaining about smelly circuitboards that I had fixed for them after the weekend of fixing the pooper parts. So Was a good excuse to get a new ultrasonic solution. 😁

Yh those plastic valves are troublesome, especially in a hard water area like ours. I dump a cup of descaler in the cistern and let it sit every 9 months or so else they clagg up. They are supposed to save water but half the time the dribble water into the overflow or leak in the pan. Bring back the syphon valve..!!

I reckon that you may be correct. There must be some osmotic thing going on as there is only about 9 inches of head. Clearly the membrane was intact. All the loos that were fitted 10 years ago have the same blistered ring.. It is a curious thing.
