are you saying the leaffilter system is not as good as advertised?

I have pine trees and was considering Leaffitter. My questions is this. I've never my seen roof this dirty with leaves and needles, with some maintenance do these work? To me it just looks like the homeowner should have also invested in a a gutter cleaner attachment and during the fall/spring cleaned off the top of the gutter. I would imagine nothing is maintenance free.

Whatever your roof manages to shed will get stuck on the "shelf" LeafFilter creates. If the guard isn't at the pitch of the roof, it will collect stuff.

It requires more maintenance than if the gutters were left open. Needles fall year round and they mat on top causing the water to run over all around.

Leaffilter is not as advertised Because it gets clogged it needs to be cleaned With the clogged gutters the rain water runs over the gutter rather than into the gutter therefore the water run towards the house If you don't want water running towards your home then don't purchase LEAFFILTER GUTTER PROTECTION

How much did that cost him?

I don't know, but throwing at all away was probably pretty painful. This home has fir trees, not leaves. The name says it's a Leaf Filter. Maybe it works better for those?
