LCN QUEST - the shortest lived door closer ever
In this video we are going to take a look at some actual footage of the initial introduction of the LCN Quest 1370 Series (1371/1372) of Door Closers and then chat about the closer
I’m glad I knew better than to jump on the Quest bandwagon :)
These were introduced in 1998 and officially discontinued in 2008 but many distributors had already stopped ordering them long before that due to the problems with them :)

Great video!! I’ve not ran into one yet in the field (and somehow I’ve became the “closer guy” lol), but now I know what I’m running into if I ever do! (Also, a former IR CEO has been a customer of mine. Can’t see him wearing a leather jacket lol)
Installed a bunch of them back when they came out. Have a good customer that has a few and are some are still working.

I Have sat in board meetings like that.
I liked the quest!,until the one screw holding the closer on the plate strips out! I was told it was stopped in production because it fell off the door from the one set screw either coming loose or breaking off?? NOT sure if that is truth or closer hearsay?

The corporate meeting is totally unrealistic: No PowerPoint The presenter said more than just read the words on the slides Nobody coming in late No colleagues of the presenter interrupting and trying to score points with the big boss with their own ideas and nonconstructive criticisms of the presentation. No laptops for everyone to play with. Nobody calling remotely on the phone and complaining that they cannot hear. The boss ended the meeting without assigning worthless tasks to prove he is still in charge.

@@selock Oh, and I forgot, back in that late 90s era the presenter would have a laser pointer to point at the words as he read them. He who held the laser pointer (or whiteboard marker in team meetings) had power. Bringing your own laser pointer was the wonder of management, and when green ones came out…
