i subbed!& I have to say after watching several shows is: Grandpa is one the best fed and loved Grandpas on the planet. Grandma and Grandpa are a National Treasure. My parents and my husband’s parents grew up in the Great Depression. It is good to keep their stories and memories alive and pass them on to the younger generation. i have been enjoying the recipes,and stories here. Thank you. . This show about Lazy Pierogi is an eyeopener, i love to eat perogi when I can get them,if someone else makes them, which isn’t very often. Farmer’s cheese is hard to find, but mexican Queso, is available and delicious, I will try the recipe that way. . ❤

I make something similar will cottage cheese and a bit of sour cream, and a bit of pepper. Mostly make it in the summer. Looks good.

I use more butter and use yellow onions fried until they begin to brown, combine with large curd cottage cheese and some fresh ground pepper. I also use the larger goulash noodles instead. It’s the way my mom made it for us,

This is very interesting Grandma. So I recently made Pierogies from scratch and froze them. I just blanch them and then let them cool and put them in the freezer and then when I’m ready to serve them , I thaw out , layer them with fried cabbage and onions and butter in a casserole dish and then I bake them to completely cook them. Actually I got the dough recipe from you. Anyway, this is something I think I will try. However I never see the farmers cheese in Publix but maybe Walmart has it. If I can find it I will make this….Thank you! Brian

the closest would be cottage cheese which you would drain the liquid from. ricotta would be okay also but taste slightly different.

Looks like a main dish. Nobody would stop eating it and I would have to double it. Be good with a salad. A heaping mound of this next to one piece of lettuce! Now I got to find farmers cheese.

Farmers cheese is pressed (pressing out all the moisture) cottage cheese. Its cheese curds befor they are pressed into a solid block of cheese. Farmers who made cheese (cheese was a more shelf stable food when made the old fashioned way often sealed with wax) would somtimes eat fresh cheese curds ie farmers cheese
